Simone Biles attacks Riley Gaines

Simone Biles has come out in defence of males in women's sports, and has attacked Riley Gaines for fighting against it. She said on Twitter:

You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!"

So, so disappointing. Both my daughters do gymnastics and are huge SB fans, so it is awful for her to show such contempt towards RG, who is fighting for a level playing field for women and girls in sport. And to suggest a separate category as if nobody has ever thought of that and tried it 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nice try to undermine RG and her personal experience of being told not to complain about a fully intact male changing in the locker room with the girls. Thomas is a straight man. This would be unheard of if he didn't claim to be a woman.

The views of Gaines on abortion etc are completely irrelevant in the context of sport. Her views by the way are shared by many millions of Americans.

I might sum up a lot of this as "Riley Gaines votes for the party I don't approve of, therefore she deserves to share a locker room with a man walking around with his cock out."

Gaines and co being able to present their eminently sensible views on men in sport as naturally falling to the right is a direct consequence of enough of the American left being stupid enough to allow them that. I say this as one who is left of centre myself.

Newsom also recently had come out and declared he supported female only sport categories. Yet allowed male competitors such as Hernandez to qualify in the female sports category of the CIF competition.

It was only after protests at Hernandez’s inclusion (and the negative potential press when he would have won 3 events) that the CIF modified the policy so that no female would lose out. Too late for those girls who had already lost out in the preceding events.

So Newsom can be said to good for women and girls in some instances and not others. Like most politicians and political activists.

This isn’t really helping your argument. It’s not Riley’s fault that the Democrats were so horrifically bad they made Trump look like a viable option. California is a state that enthusiastically removed women’s rights and safeguarding and Gavin brought in legislation that undermined parental rights among other things. At least he is starting to listen now and finally gets the fact that men in women’s sport is not ok.

That aside, if you're doing political lobbying, you do what you can in the environment where you find yourself. That might mean trying to influence people who you don't entirely approve of. That might mean allying on one particular issue with people who you agree with on very little else. It's a tactical decision more than a moral one.

I can tell you from personal experience that lots of left wing Irish women think Richard Boyd Barrett is an ally. Personally, having extensive experience of RBB, I wouldn't go within a mile of him, but if you think he can help you win a policy goal, you do you. I only get angry when they feel they have to go further and talk about what a lovely man that evil little shit is.

In the American environment, where members of the Blue Tribe feel contaminated by any contact with the Red Tribe, I'm sure it's a lot more difficult.

No one has ever opposed categories for transgender sports. The issue is that no one wants them.

do you know what trans-identified females do about sport - they almost exclusively remain in women's sport, and apparently that's fine for them. It is only the males who seem to think they should be given access to the female category and that it would be crazy for them to compete against other males.

I think genderists work on the basis that if a woman isn’t stereotypically female looking, we think they’re not women. But that’s how they are more likely to think, rather. I don’t think gender non conforming women are manly, I think male people are. “Trans women” are not actually women, so I don’t compare any women to them.

@Skipthisbit Riley Gaines is 165cm which is five foot five. At least deal in facts.

And as to your other point about a third category, it isn’t what TIM want, they want to compete against women, because we are meant to accept them as women. Which they’re not, they’re men. It’s all about power and control.
