Simone Biles attacks Riley Gaines

Simone Biles has come out in defence of males in women's sports, and has attacked Riley Gaines for fighting against it. She said on Twitter:

You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!"

So, so disappointing. Both my daughters do gymnastics and are huge SB fans, so it is awful for her to show such contempt towards RG, who is fighting for a level playing field for women and girls in sport. And to suggest a separate category as if nobody has ever thought of that and tried it 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thing is, if one party is telling you that men can be women and you are a bigot if you disagree then you can understand why some women might think they cannot be trusted on all the other stuff too. Plenty of life-long lefties on FWR considering what previously would have been unpalatable voting decisions.

Why should RG be doing this? RG is only concerned about the integrity of women's sport. Why is it RGs responsibility? Why isn't SB taking on this responsibility given her high profile. She could do something positive rather than trash RG.

What evidence is there for this? That's quite the accusation. That's potentially actionable in some places.

Probably the same number of all-around titles she'd have if it also required her to do rings and pommel horse.

I can understand Simone Biles not liking Riley Gaines’ political allegiances but, if that’s the real reason behind this, then the sensible thing would be to say so. Calling RG a sore loser and comparing her to a man discredits only of them, and it’s not Riley Gaines who comes out of it badly.

But then I’ve not got a Netflix doc about me coming up so maybe I’m just behind the times.

But am saying SB isn't saying transwomen should be in women's sport but is supporting solutions like a transwomen category (and yes I know many in the trans community don't want this bit it's still what SB is suggesting here).

Since Simone Biles is now a retired athlete, perhaps she can take on the task of creating transgender sporting categories herself, since female athletes who are still competing have got enough on their plates.

I'd like to see whether she changes her tune when she realises that trans people don't actually seem to want their own categories, and that using women's sports to validate their gender identities is the point.

Riley Gaines is allowed to hold whatever political opinions she chooses.

I disagree with her about most things but that doesn't mean she isn't right about fairness in women's sports.

I wonder if she has seen the clip of male gymnasts doing the female routines and how easily they perform moves female people can’t.

If anyone I know wants to know the arguments about women's sports, I send them the long interview Riley did with Megyn Kelly. It's the best single breakdown of the issue that I know.

My patience with left wing women imposing purity tests and saying we can't speak with right wing women expired a long time ago. Especially given many of them have a record of covering for the scummy behaviour of left wing men.
