Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Am I naive in thinking that in a couple of years, if not sooner, this will all be behind us? A few court cases, people clear about the law, women's rights protected again??

And yes the noisy TRA far fewer in number and sidelined as the sad fringe that are left as others move on.....

Or do others think it will pan out differently??

I'm a size 38. I think.
Or 37.

Now you're all doing it! Exclusionary.

I'm a 32H if that helps. Do not recommend unless you enjoy back ache, though by Debbie Haytons system of female hierarchy that makes me some kind of alpha I believe.

I can't help but think of the poor woman who's getting a text tonight saying 'Hey mate, just FYI I'm talking about your massive feet on Mumsnet' 😂

She doesn't exist!

She's like the mythical "intersex friend" with the DSD that cannot ever be stated lest you tell that person which sex that DSD affects.

I'm a 30 back. I'm not telling you the rest but it's not a typical size.

Interesting. So when you see all the threads here hero worshiping Posie Parker / Kelly Jay Keen, who is advising everyone not to employ you or rent a room from them because you are trans, that doesn't worry you?

And when you read here that you are mentally ill and spending your life deceiving and lying to others, that doesn't bother you?

And when see the threads here linking to news articles where trans people are talking about leaving the country because they are frightened, and you see the posts here on FWR saying 'good riddance' and 'let me try to find my tiny violin' you don't feel any empathy for trans people like you?

Don’t people usually say they’re leaving the country when they don’t get their own way, for instance when we have an election? It’s just a tantrum, and an embarrassing one at that.

What you fail to understand is that we can think critically, unlike this insidious, regressive ideology, we find it possible to agree and disagree with someone at the same time, because we’re adults. We don’t need to be validated 100% of the time by 100% of people, and sadly it appears you do. I don’t believe that people change sex, because the facts tell me so, you choose to ignore facts that don’t suit your narrative.

You and I would almost certainly fundamentally disagree about a lot of things, but if you liked dogs, for example, we would agree about that, because I love dogs. It’s really that simple.

Not the point of the thread, but I was jokingly telling my DH that I felt bad about my big feet (size 7.5!) & he said that it is the Russian bots sowing discord 😂

BreatheAndFocus · 27/05/2025 19:43

Doesn't matter if not a single adult woman in your entire family has felt the need to try to squeeze herself into a size 8 item of clothing, but there are several with size 8 feet. Definitely clothing

You’re so desperate to cover up your mistake, you’re not thinking, BH. The poster who told you she was 5ft 2 and a Size 8 was explaining to you that she was small and slim and not “terrifying”. The descriptors she used were to illustrate her size. Her shoe size wasn’t mentioned because it was irrelevant. If someone was describing a large, scary man to you (6ft 5, 120kg), you’re hardly going to ask their shoe size and decide they’re not big and scary just because they have a shoe size of 7, are you?

And what on earth has whether your family can “squeeze themselves” into Size 8 clothing got to do with it?!! Size 8 was the clothing size of the poster replying to you. You’re not doing yourself any favours here.

Well you know, with all these public bodies collecting data on 'gender' instead of sex, the average shoe size of woman gender is going to be a lot bigger than the average shoe size of woman sex. So you may now have small feet for a woman. Silver linings.

DeanElderberry · 27/05/2025 19:44

I wonder what Butters would have thought if Red had said she was 5'2" and size 20?

Women can be. Queen Victoria was that sort of shape in old age.

DeanElderberry · 27/05/2025 19:46

Not very quick on the cornering, but needing an effort to move her from her chosen spot.

RedToothBrush · 27/05/2025 19:47

When referring to shoe size it can be a reference to trampling on someone or hurting them in some way.

Interesting to note.

Not if she’s five foot two, unless she’s also a clown 🤡 😂

Talking of clowns…….

Who wants some fascinating shoe size facts?

https://www.shoezone.com/Blog/shoe-knew-it-the-biggest-and-smallest-feet-in-the-uk-and-ireland-revealed

English women have the biggest feet in the UK. That's what our research suggests - 4.4% of our shoe sales in England are for size 9 footwear, more than anywhere else in the UK and Ireland. Meanwhile, Ireland's women have tinier tootsies than anyone - 8.6% of sales are for size 3's.

Where Do People Have the Biggest Feet? | shoezone Blog

But some of the English women are transwomen, and some of the Irish women are Leprechauns, so the data are scientifically worthless. Just saying.

potpourree · 27/05/2025 19:57

@SerafinasGoose Thank you for your comprehensive post on essentialism. It was discussed on another thread, and I'm possibly guilty of simplifying it (to its essence? Does that make me an essentialist-squared?) but I thought I was going slightly mad to be told over and over that it meant the opposite of what everything says it does.

I have a significant Irish ancestry. I was doomed.

Interesting that the average woman's shoe size is 6 whilst it's 9 for a man.

You should see our social media inboxes.

Actually, you shouldn't - I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Pure cognitohazard.

You never really get used to the death threats and the variations on 'I can't wait until we can put you in the ovens, but you could save us the trouble right now.' and reading three or four of them before lunchtime can really sour your day. The majority of those seem to be from people with an interest in presenting themselves as male who seem to enjoy the whole Nazi-larping power fantasy thing but the really nasty, trying-to-get-under-your-skin stuff often comes from the obvious 'gender critical' sock-puppets that have an air of sweaty desperation to their feverish attempts to get a response.

The weirdest (and most heartbreaking) ones are by far the neggy lesbian chasers who seem to be working through their own stuff by instrumentalising more conventionally attractive trans women as emotional punchbags. Not fun at all.

If this were even remotely true there would be screenshots of these messages all over Twix and Reddit and the police would be in overdrive rounding up all those offensive TERFS for a "little chat"
So no. You jumped the shark there.

ButterflyHatched · 27/05/2025 19:58

Helleofabore · 27/05/2025 19:18

That is not even relevant to the point.

The point is you keep telling us stuff like

a constellation of statistically linked elements that together describe something almost intangible and linguistically elusive”

and

"I'm an adult human, and I recognise within myself a constellation of data points that I identify as female”.

But the reality is that have heavily used your family as a reference for womanhood. One who is invested in keeping you happy so may not be totally honest with you.

I'm not even sure what point you are trying to make here. You seem fixated on my family and keep bringing them up. Are you trying to make a No True Scotsman about having grown up with them as a frame of reference? It's a bit incoherent and unsettling, honestly.

My DD DOES NOT live in Milton Keynes! It's bad enough that she's a freakishly large-footed giantess, don't wish that on her too.

People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, no one has the least idea what point you’re trying to make, but you have succeeded in making g several of us lose the will to live. Every cloud and all that eh Butters?

potpourree · 27/05/2025 20:02

I know, I know, I shouldn't ask because it's just a random grab-bag of terms by this point but.... how is saying your view of women is shaped by your family and not by the 'data points' and 'linked elements' you previously claimed a 'no true scotsman' argument?
