Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Am I naive in thinking that in a couple of years, if not sooner, this will all be behind us? A few court cases, people clear about the law, women's rights protected again??

Point taken :)

"gender critical views are more accepted, "

Optimistic viewpoints here. Is it worth a reminder most gender critical views are held by the older generations? Look at any KJK or LGBAlliance rally and observe the age of the people who turn up in support (old). Then observe the age of the counter protestors (young).

At the moment the boomer and older generations are in charge of politics and the media (look at how most British tabloids are in support of gender critical views). Give it a little time and that will change. Before long all the youngsters of Uni age who are overwhelmingly in support of LGBT rights will be the politicians and tabloid editors. When that time comes there will be far less people with gender critical views and the few that exist will be retired with little to no power.
Similar to how the church in Britain and the hardcore Christians have little power compared to decades ago. Times change.

It wasn't that long back when the whole of Glastonbury was singing Oh Jeremy Corbyn to the tune of seven nation army, with similar at festivals and events up and down the country. Do you think this means that we're heading for a far left government with a landslide majority as soon as enough old Conservatives die? Or do you think that just sometimes people, especially younger ones, get a bit caught up in a thing and then later forget all about it and move onto a new thing?

‘I’m size 8’
I don’t care how big your feet are

That amused me far more than it probably should have done!
Funny how all the women posters knew exactly what size 8 meant.

I don't think Seethlaw needs Butters' ridiculous patronising. As it's quite clear who is a happier person, and it ain't Butters.

I actually think that Seethlaw, like many female people, can see right into the heart of that ridiculous patronising that has been plonked onto this thread by a couple of male posters.

ButterflyHatched · 27/05/2025 18:12

Nameychangington · 27/05/2025 18:02

Size 8 is a women's clothes size. Honestly Butters you do find new ways to embarrass yourself.

And a women's shoe size.

My feet are size 4. They used to a size 3. Then I got pregnant.

I love how size 8 is viewed as remotely normal for a 5'2" woman 😂

JazzyJelly · 27/05/2025 18:12

Surely a man who claims to be a woman would wear 'women's' clothes? Have I been taken in by very dry satire?

So why do threads have to get enshitted like this? See it time after time in this folder. I'm sure many readers just get fed up with it. But perhaps that's the idea.

She told you she was 5'2". Who did you think was speaking, a miniature Yeti? God, no wonder you're terrified of women if you think that's a standard female proportion.

You would certainly have a strong grip on the world if you had size 8 feet as a 5' 2" woman.

And a women's shoe size.

A 5'2" woman would look like a clown with size 8 feet.

Very, very few women have size 8 feet.

Understanding this stuff is a whole aspect of female socialisation that I'd never considered!

But women don’t mention their shoe size like that. If a woman says they’re a Size 8, they mean clothes!! And a 5ft 2 woman is extremely unlikely to have Size 8 feet!

I admit to feeling secondhand embarrassment on your behalf there.

I was wondering that. It's possible we've been had. Hard to say; there are so many people who are serious when they say this that they've become impossible to satirise.

Oooh nice, I'm sending that one to a fiery short friend who has size 8 feet and a lifelong exasperation toward body policing just so she can see where we're up to on MN nowadays.

Good word that - 'enshitted'. I haven't heard it for a long time but it is highly relevant.

RedToothBrush · 27/05/2025 18:17

Being pro women's rights is not and never has been 'anti-trans' no matter how many times males suggest it is to get their own way.

Trying to ostracise or shame women by suggesting they are 'terrifying' for pointing out the actual law and actual material reality that men can never become women is just low.

Especially when that woman is teeny tiny petite with size 8 shoes. Allegedly.

Okiedokie123 · 27/05/2025 18:18

@ButterflyHatched as I see it none of us, literally no one is "trying to make life unbearable for trans people" - what I am seeing is people hoping that this stuff will stop asap so that fewer lives, fewer bodies are damaged. Hoping that you'll wake up to the lies that you've believed, the delusions you/other people that call themselves trans isnt in anyway "trying to make your life unbearable"

eta quoted wrong post! That’ll teach me to try to be a smart arse

No breathe.

If you mention anything about how female people think, you get told you are self-identifying as having expertise in how female people think... From a male person who keeps telling us that they are a 'woman' and think and act like a 'woman'. You really couldn't make this up.

Body policing? 😀 Presuming your friend is a biological female, she’s unusual to have size 8 feet at that height. Moreover, if I went shopping with her and we were looking around a department store and she asked me what size I was, I very much doubt she’d be asking my shoe size! A woman saying they’re 5ft 5 and a Size 10, or 5ft 2 and a Size 8 is referring to their height and clothing size!
