Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Am I naive in thinking that in a couple of years, if not sooner, this will all be behind us? A few court cases, people clear about the law, women's rights protected again??

I think there's a game of 'let's pretend' going on, surely nobody with a grain of common sense really believes that TWAW or that GC women want to ex-ter-min-aaate all transpeople, or that having to use a toilet that you'd rather not use is akin to genocide.
I mean, c'mon!

Some people love taking an extreme position and showing off their cleverness by defending the indefensible for as long as they can, by any means they can, often twisting meanings or picking up on slight errors or ambiguities to 'crush' their interlocutor.

I've seen it done. By men, in my experience, but that's just my experience.

It is impossible to reason against it, because it's not about rationality and facts and that kind of thing, it's a look-at-me-and-how-clever-I-am domination thing.

It's annoying when teenagers are going through that I-know-everything phase; when people continue it into adulthood, it's a bit sad as well as irritating.

Nailed it.

It mystifies me as well. For a laugh, I asked an older lesbian couple who have been family friends for years and they said 'ohhh no, this is very familiar. When this happens it's usually because they fancy you and hate you because of it. It's like upside down straight panic! run away!!!'

No lesbian finds you attractive, and never will. I don't think I've read a thread you've been posting on before, but all I can say is you manage to combine a real persecution complex with an incredibly high opinion of yourself.

ButterflyHatched · 27/05/2025 15:16

@raregoalsverge Nazi ideology holds (among other things) that sexist stereotypes are correct and true and that everyone must fulfil the expectations of the stereotypes for their birth-sex.

Nazis were obsessed with maintaining the 'purity' of a sex class defined by a biological essentialist view of them as womb bearers who had to be protected at all costs, and much of their propaganda revolved around the idea of the monstrous, degenerate Other invading and defiling this fragile, precious and sacred breeding resource.

They viciously punished people who dared to defy the sex classification placed upon them at birth. A sizeable contributing factor to this reactionary clampdown was the relatively permissive attitude of the preceding Weimar Republic under which the LGBT community had flourished. The Weimar government even issued people a rudimentary form of gender recognition certificate to stop them from being arrested for wearing clothing that defied stereotypical norms.

The Nazis stoked up hate amongst the student population of Berlin who raided and then burned the library of the Institute of Sexology which had been attempting to research, understand and help people who defied these norms.

That famous photo of books being flung on the fire at the plaza in Berlin during the first book burning ceremony? That's the library being burned there.

Glad to hear she's lovely in person.

I must confess, I would be deathly afraid of meeting in person any of the no-doubt otherwise lovely people on this board who have repeatedly insulted, interrogated and misgendered me here as a matter of course for years. These posters have called my desperate pleas to spare trans kids from further harm, to stop banning healthcare and driving trans people from public life 'childish tantrums' more times than I can count; they have shouted me down and dogpiled me on thread after thread after thread with astonishingly hostility and vicious circular arguments attacking my mental health, physical health, choice of attire, dating practices, familial relationships and personal integrity.

Perhaps it's unreasonable to be afraid of people who seem to spend a terrifying amount of their time poring over every aspect of your life in minute detail looking for ways to undermine and abuse you and further reduce your quality of life. Perhaps I should just get over it and pretend it doesn't happen, eh?

Whenever I bite back or challenge this behaviour, we go through a cycle of performative outrage like the one happening on this thread right now.

I don't need to put that on a t-shirt. It's all available through the search function for anyone who wishes to see for themselves.

I find it very hard to believe you’d be “deathly afraid” of meeting anyone here, or, indeed, any sex realist. Indeed, you might well have met some and not realised because - contrary to your oft-repeated belief - nobody here wants you to not exist, and nobody here disagrees with the fact that you should be able to live your life free from discrimination.

You know that.

"gender critical views are more accepted, "

Optimistic viewpoints here. Is it worth a reminder most gender critical views are held by the older generations? Look at any KJK or LGBAlliance rally and observe the age of the people who turn up in support (old). Then observe the age of the counter protestors (young).

At the moment the boomer and older generations are in charge of politics and the media (look at how most British tabloids are in support of gender critical views). Give it a little time and that will change. Before long all the youngsters of Uni age who are overwhelmingly in support of LGBT rights will be the politicians and tabloid editors. When that time comes there will be far less people with gender critical views and the few that exist will be retired with little to no power.
Similar to how the church in Britain and the hardcore Christians have little power compared to decades ago. Times change.

Hahaha you’re hilarious. I’m from a very large family and I can promise you none of the youngsters below 25 believe in this nonsense, they find it totally cringey and embarrassing. It was a social contagion spread on SM, and now all you TRA’s have been out pissing in the streets and showing people your moobs, the youngsters won’t touch it with a barge pole, they don’t want to be associated with middle aged men with a fetish, because don’t kid yourself that they can’t see you for exactly what you are. In short, you’ve done our job for us.

And once the NHS has had to concede, and JKR’s fund has financed and won some high profile cases, they’ll be nothing left. If businesses don’t comply with the law they’ll be unable to obtain public liability insurance, so employers will toe the line, and people will once again be able to protect their children from this insidious, homophobic, misogynistic and regressive ideology.

I wasn't denying that nazis are bad. Yes nazis are bad, and transphobic, and horrible people.

What they really are not is "gender critical" - your description here is the opposite of what gender critical people believe.

That doesn't mean the sex class didn't exist. How did the Nazis know which people to oppress in this way? Are you saying that if you walked into a room while the Nazis were coming, you wouldn't know which people to try to save from that fate? That instead you'd start telling the Nazis these people didn't exist, or that you'd become one of them if you wore a skirt, and that would somehow bamboozle them into leaving them alone out of confusion?

The oppression is precisely because women exist as a sex class, and when oppression is sex based, protections must be sex based too. Schindler and Hitler both knew what a Jew was, doesn't mean they were the same as each other.

As for the rest of it, with all the violence against people who dissented from the authoritarianism, I can't believe you don't see that mirrored in all the threats to rape, hang, stab, shoot and immolate people who refuse to say men are women. And did you notice these guys also seem to always know at which class of people to direct these threats?

My extended family didn't teach the youngest generation to hold trans-negative views, so the under 25's are very chill and extremely supportive toward trans people.

We're a little worried about one young lad who is quite impressionable and vulnerable to incel/alt-right culture which goes hand in hand with transphobia, and which some of the people he knows at school occasionally veer concerningly towards. Hopefully he'll find better friends who don't have parents that imprint that kind of awfulness on their children!

Imagine the fireworks if I said that about a non-trans lesbian poster on this board.

A "non trans lesbian" (fuck me sideways) is a woman solely attracted to women. In other words, just a lesbian.

That poster was saying that no lesbian would be attracted to you, because by definition, a lesbian is not attracted to any man.

You'd be saying this person was incapable of attracting anyone. That poster was saying that you are incapable of attracting anyone who is attracted only to women, because you're a man.

You've got to stop thinking that we can't see through this kind of ridiculous Newspeak, or that we can't articulate what's wrong with it.

I decry any incitement to violence regardless of the inciter's sex at birth or gender identity.

I can't speak for those people any more than you can speak for the actions of Nicola Murray or Neo-Nazis who have been documented in the press as being present at GC rallies.
