Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Am I naive in thinking that in a couple of years, if not sooner, this will all be behind us? A few court cases, people clear about the law, women's rights protected again??

I think it will take a very, very long time to die down.
What many older people don’t fully realise is that there is now a whole generation of young adults who have been “educated” in this ideology by their schools, social media, the BBC, the NHS, universities, everywhere. They haven’t known a world in which nobody was called “cis”, sex was observed at birth not assigned, there were two sexes, transsexual people and cross dressers weren’t believed to have actually changed sex, and women’s sports were for women. To them, gender ideology is normal and true, because it’s all they know, and they’ve been taught that anyone who says otherwise is wrong and bad. They won’t easily let go of that.

It's funny to watch this in real time.

Going after one of the most level headed, to the point, clear and unfailingly polite posters on the forum - Datun - really isn't going to win friends.

I can be blunt and to the point and not everyones cup of tea. But Datun? DATUN.

And then following it up two minutes later comparing yourself to the persecuted during WWII in a gross act of Holocaust appropriation.

Pantomime levels of childish contrarianism?

Priceless.

And you WANT us to respect you?

You really are that detached from reality.

It's a sight to behold.

A good friend of mine who is a longstanding poster on this board resoundingly disagrees with your assessment of Datun's discussion style, as she has told me many times over the years.

Pleased to say that I know Datun IRL (based on meet ups going back years) and she is indeed awesome offscreen as well, and so much more patient than me, but also impervious to being duped by nonsense or persuaded by whiny emotional blackmail. Kyrptonite for TRAs.

My Maternal Grandfather bombed Germany. His brother was also in the army.

My Paternal Grandfather was a Royal Marine. His two older brothers were also in the army.

Five of my Maternal Grandmother's brothers fought in WWII.

Six of my Maternal Grandmother's brothers fought in WWII. One was a POW in the far East.

That makes a total of 16 young men in my immediate family who were old enough to serve who did. Out of 16.

I have a special interest in history of my family around their actions in both WWI and WWII. I have also done a fair amount on my husbands family. And I'm currently researching what happened to a friend's grandfather in WWI (he lost a leg).

So please, stop it. It's vile.

I suspect so. It’s already on its way out, public opinion has very much turned, the reality of TRA activity is out there plus what happened at GIDS, men in women’s prisons/sports etc. I’ve seen mention of the next generation coming through not agreeing with gender ideology. Nothing makes something uncool faster than it being out of date.

On top of all that, gender critical views are more accepted, both societally and legally, and I imagine the medical scandal of PBs and cross sex hormones will be a chicken that comes home to roost relatively soon. And there will only need to be a few big, high-profile court cases on single sex spaces for companies and organisations to realise the jig is up.

I'm sure there will be pockets of ideology spluttering on, still bleating “be kind!” like a broken toy, but this will come to be seen as a temporary madness. Like PIE.

"gender critical views are more accepted, "

Optimistic viewpoints here. Is it worth a reminder most gender critical views are held by the older generations? Look at any KJK or LGBAlliance rally and observe the age of the people who turn up in support (old). Then observe the age of the counter protestors (young).

At the moment the boomer and older generations are in charge of politics and the media (look at how most British tabloids are in support of gender critical views). Give it a little time and that will change. Before long all the youngsters of Uni age who are overwhelmingly in support of LGBT rights will be the politicians and tabloid editors. When that time comes there will be far less people with gender critical views and the few that exist will be retired with little to no power.
Similar to how the church in Britain and the hardcore Christians have little power compared to decades ago. Times change.

Well quite a few young people identify as trans now (60% women/girls 40% men/boys in the ‘young person’ age range) so I don’t imagine it will go away….

If those young people are allowed to go through puberty without medical intervention, most will outgrow identifying as the opposite sex.

Not sure you have talked to any teenagers lately.
It's weird this glorification of youth, the Nazis (the original ones) where strongly supported by the youth of the time and look where it all ended up.

Just because currently a proportion of young people accept the obviously untrue claim that humans can change sex and TWAW doesn't mean that they won't revise their unfounded opinions later.

Young people grow up. We all do. And people often look back on things they believed in when they were young with an eye-roll.

'I can't really believe we actually thought that biological males were women, and were entitled to use women's spaces! God we were stupid! Still, you can't put an old head on young shoulders, can you, and we eventually saw sense...'

edited to say: this post is continuing on from the quoted post, not arguing with it!

Not sure what that last statement is supposed to mean?

It's well established at this point that Neo-Nazis (Nazis of today) are on the gender critical side, we've seen that from KJK rallies.

BreatheAndFocus · 27/05/2025 14:07

BH, I genuinely don’t believe that you actually believe any of that hyperbolic stuff you wrote in your first post. It’s so silly, overwrought and nonsensical that it must be an act, surely?

Why do you do that? In all kindness, you’re not persuading anyone and, in fact, you’re just making any allies lose patience with you. Try this - they’ve recently introduced a 20mph limit in my street. I’m sure a number of people are annoyed about that. But, imagine if they didn’t actually put forward any counterpoints or explain their objections to the new limit, but, instead, sat in the middle of the road, wailing and tearing their clothing, asking “Why do you want all car-drivers to die?”. You’re doing the equivalent of that and it just makes you look at best very silly and at worst very deceptive and manipulative.

Clarifying that you can’t use spaces designated for the opposite sex to yours is NOT wishing you didn’t exist or persecuting you any more than you not being able to join a Reception class because you’re years too old is wishing you didn’t exist or equivalent to a holocaust. Stop with this ridiculous, self-defeating rhetoric!

To answer the OP, yes, I think the tide has turned. For those few years, a kind of madness gripped society, pushed by people with an agenda. Now people are aware of that agenda, the quiet majority has spoken up, and it’s dawning on young people that their cool new craze* isn’t so cool after all and is, in fact, regressive and sexist.

*I don’t include people with genuine gender dysphoria in that as that’s a MH condition not a social craze. But they should have nipped this crap in the bud because it’s harmed them with its stupidity and aggression.

You know that trying to suggest people who recognise biology are aligned with the far right and neo Nazis is an utterly batshit line to take.

Or are you proposing we arrest biology teachers and doctors and nurses across the country for their 'far right' extremist beliefs.

I'll get my popcorn on that one.

Notable in this most recent study – conducted in mid-December – is the growing resistance on transgender rights among those groups that are typically more permissive on the issue, like women and young people.

The more they hear from the TRAs the more people realise the truth.

The same institutions now pretending the Supreme Court doesn’t exist have spent years responding to anyone who questions gender ideology with one tired tactic, i.e. call them fascists. Parents worried about their daughters in school toilets? Fascists. Women asking for single-sex spaces? Fascists. People quoting the Equality Act? Fascists too. You could be clutching a cup of tea, a signed Ruth Davidson biography, and still get accused of orchestrating a coup...

They talk about fighting fascism with the moral superiority of a saint in need of confession, all while quietly lacing up its boots.

The law? That’s just a vibe now

The Supreme Court recently ruled, clearly and unanimously, that under the Equality Act 2010, “sex” means biological sex. So what did our brave public servants do in response? They ignored it.

Its a well established point that trans activists are trying to push their belief that Neo-Nazis (Nazis of today) are on the gender critical side.

But like so much of the trans lobbies ideology it doesn't stand up to the evidence.

Butters and Marg are rolling out a lot of the classics today aren't they? Far right, you'll all die out soon, all the cool youngsters are on our side ,just like being a Jew in Nazi Germany, conversion therapy, section 28, I think we're only missing Butters trying to convince us he's 'intersex' and possibly Jim Crow or apartheid we'd have a full set.

It's half term here, on an unrelated note.

It will never fail to amaze me (and by amaze, I mean appal and sicken) that you people will look at the horrors of Auschwitz and think it compares to asking men to use the gents'. Or that you think JKR, philanthropist, socialist and full tax payer who has spoken out against antisemitism, is a neo Nazi.

Except you don't, of course; it's just lazy Godwinism to hide the rank absurdity and stupidity of your position that men can be women. Nobody believes it, including you, but once you've decided women can have dicks and should be able to flash them around actual women and little girls, you have nothing left to lose, I guess.

Anyway, the Communist Party is GC, in line with Marxism (in which women are a distinct class from men), so go tell them they're Nazis.
