Just watched KJK talking about all things trans on a Tanya De Grunwald podcast ( great podcast) - she says she is banned from mumsnet? I just wondered why she was banned.

My answer is only one of many...

Because, despite mumsnet being an heroic and brave bastion of free speech on the matter of women's rights, the TQ+ movement gained so much power that even on a site which is a bastion of free speech, free speech is still not as good as I would like, and use to be worse when the TQ+ had even more power than they do now.

The "report post" system got weaponized by TRA who targeted many thoughtful, truthful, funny and intelligent women on here for a long while, especially if they were "prominent" members of the community. I think HQ couldn't be arsed with it all (all the reports) so took the path of banning all these women to reduce the workload.

They then had to change the talk guidelines and actually introduced a policy that you can be banned for reporting posts without contributing to the talk which still exists now.

They've now said all these banned feminists can come back if they ask! As if they would. What an insult.

KJK pulls no punches, takes no shit and says it like it is.

That was more than enough.

Lang was axed for very politely saying inconvenient truths about safeguarding.

Floisme · 18/05/2025 11:33

If I remember correctly, her final banning was when Stella Creasy was doing one of those Mumsnet Q&As and Posie said she’d drink a bottle of Prosecco through her nose if Stella gave a straight answer to a certain question… Happy days.

Circumferences · 18/05/2025 11:39

Stella Creasey 🙄 who still can't accept the SC ruling 😆

Let me guess, KJK did not need to drink a bottle of prosecco through her nose? But, due to the fact she's nails, she would have managed it if the incredible had happened and she was obliged to?

To be fair, I think PPs tend to be banned for arguing with admin, more than for anything else.

There was a time when admin was effectively captured and running with ‘be kind- thou shalt not say anything that upsets’ certain categories of people.

The current rules have evolved with careful, polite and persistent discussion. Along the way, that persistence and refusal to back down occasionally led to banning.

Without that persistence we would not be where we are now.

When talking about a swimmer, Posie’s ‘I’m not a vet but I know what a dog is!’, would not have survived around here.

She’s quite far right Christian aligned as well as being GC. Not the best advert for the cause of feminism!

Helleofabore · 18/05/2025 12:00

I see the guilt by alignment card has been played early on. Good to get it out early.

Since when is being a Christian a crime? I'm shocked and bet you wouldn't say that about any other religion. Also, she might be right wing (again, not a crime) but what makes her 'far right'?

IllustratedDictionaryOfTheDoldrums · 18/05/2025 12:04

I believe she's 'far right' for two reasons:

  1. She unashamedly talks to people on all political sides, left and right, and
  2. Calling her 'far right' means they get to dismiss her arguments without actually having to address them

That is absolute drivel. I know what you’re referring to and you’d do well to properly look into the single event you’re talking about.

A number of youtube clips of KJK were played as part of the Moira Deeming V John Pesutto defamation trial. One showed her talking to a woman from a Christian channel, and KJK mentioned one of the things they would disagree on is religion, as KJK is and atheist and the interviewer was a theist. The judge concluded KJK talks to a lot of people she doesn't align with but is willing to converse with.

IllustratedDictionaryOfTheDoldrums · 18/05/2025 12:07

I disagree with her on a few things, and agree strongly on others, but by fuck has she got her finger on the pulse with 'Let women speak'. It's such a simple concept. Any woman can speak and the absolute fury that brings is a great shining spotlight on what has gone wrong.

If the GC debate has taught me anything over the years, it’s that this issue crosses all political divides.

KJK is articulate and admirably calm when debating with TRAs. But, whether you like it or not, she has faced criticism relating to allegations of racism, white supremacy, and ties to far-right anti-LGBT groups.

The Christian Far Right are NOT people I want to be associated with. Thinking MN probably don’t either. Hence my explanation to the OP - just “telling it like it is” 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree with this and I think the GC movement would have far, far more vocal supporters if it looked at who it is standing with. Kellie and Glinner are very bad advertisements for the movement, and for reasons that are nothing to do with GC, I could never ever back them. It's a real shame for women's rights.

What’s up with Glinner @TasWair? Hadn’t heard anything negative about him…

Fundamentally religious people of all faiths are often extremely un-feminist. I would say that about any of them.

IllustratedDictionaryOfTheDoldrums · 18/05/2025 12:17

Nope. Getting into social, political smd media bubbles is one of the reasons we are in this mess.
The early days of the gender wars pretty much consisted of women speaking up, being accused of not doing so politely enough and dismissed. Repeat ad infinitum. It's why such a strongly anti-woman movement got so far.
We need to debate people on what they are actually saying and in good faith, instead of dismissing them because they sometimes talk to people we disagree with.

Glinner tweet:
"They're fighting the men who killed little girls in Manchester, concert goers in Paris, thousands on 9/11 and countless numbers of their own people. Israel is fighting for all of us."

I know that this isn't really connected to KJK, but there is a correlation between Islamophobia and the far right, and I find the above tweet disgusting for many reasons.

I'm very fed up with the constant association of Christian with Far Right. There are a very large number of people in the world who call themselves Christians. How many are Far Right, and how many are to the left of that? I know many Christians who have never voted for any right of centre party, and who align with most left wing policies.

I wholeheartedly agree with this (I think Christ was one of the biggest leftists in history!) But the point about KJK associating with the far-right still stands...

Nonsense. This is not Islamophobia. These were real attacks in which real people died. Glinner is free to speak about this as is anyone else. This is a thread about KJK and trying shoehorn in Islamophobia on the basis of Glinner condemning actual terrorist attacks is an absolute reach and completely inappropriate.

illinivich · 18/05/2025 12:25

There was a time when any suggestions around trans ideology and safeguarding, especially child safeguarding, was deleted pretty quickly.

And because there are a lot of safeguarding compromises in gender ideology, a lot of women ended up with a lot of deletions. Then mn banned posters for having multiple deleted post.

Some people want to dismiss safeguarding as an 'ism' and use gender ideology in the same way.
