For some reasons the House of Commons Petitions Committee have not listed this on the official web site of forthcoming Westminister Hall debates.

But seem to think a short tweet is enough notice! https://x.com/HoCpetitions/status/1922663793403855330

Again haven't listed petition url but can be found on https://petition.parliament.uk

And should be available to watch via https://www.parliamentlive.tv/Guide

Just in case anyone wants to lobby their MP to attend.

Man speaking now. Transpeople simply want to live in peace. There is a growing narrative that trans rights threaten women's rights. He does acknowledge that in the prison service there have been 'some troubling cases'.

Petition is routed in 'compassion and mutual respect'.

Summary - everyone must be nice.

DuchessofReality · 19/05/2025 16:54

Kirsty Blackman now:

Lists all the things you don't need a GRC for.
GRC is to allow you the right of privacy.
Allows 'correct gender' on marriage certificate and death certificate. 'Can you imagine if your father [and other relatives] dies and they have the wrong gender on their death certificate'.

This is the first person I have heard talking actual facts.

However, she seems to think it is a good thing that people don't need to have a gender dysphoria diagnosis.

Agrees that Ireland has had this for 10 years without a problem.

DuchessofReality · 19/05/2025 16:55

I can't take this any more. Talking about how difficult ' 2 years of evidence is'.

I mean seriously. Change your name at your bank. Show 2 years of bank certificates. It is just laughable that she thinks this is sufficient.

DuchessofReality · 19/05/2025 16:56

I think there are some observers at the back?

DuchessofReality · 19/05/2025 16:57

Urgh. Court cases are so much better when you can force people to address proper issues.

'The government may need to step in and change the law'.

IwantToRetire · 19/05/2025 17:04

Only half listening but just thought I heard someone totally misdescribe the Equality Act!

But see that they are all clear it is feminist who are the problem.

And they dont care. They haven't turned up to the debate.

And to my shame have just seen my MP is there. Blush

And talking rubbish.

Really good speaker from SNP(?!!)

Pointing out the impact on the protected charateristic of sex.

And is using how this was debated in Scotland to say it isn't as easy as previous speakers have implied.

Finished by saying sex and gender are not the same thing!

If anyone is interested this case went to appeal when a GRC was initially turned down. It shows some of the paperwork that the person presented to say they were ‘living as female’.

WomenShouldStillWinWomensSportsIsBack · 19/05/2025 17:28

Interesting that this petition got bumped up ahead of older petitions with more signatures for a debate. 🤔

IwantToRetire · 19/05/2025 17:31

Another Scottish women making the points about women's sex based rights. And it is because these have been ignored that has caused the problem.

But doesn't seem anyone else wants to talk about women's sex based rights.

They are just all about how trans are the most oppressed.

The Supreme Court ruling should be challenged.

The EHRC is biased against trans people.

And feminists have just stirred up transphobia.

If they or their political sponsors really cared they would be at this meeting but aren't.

So along with last week's briefing this will be used against women, women's sex based rights.

The Scottish lady in the polka dot blouse was excellent.

Hope this link works. Or not they're mostly very disappointing. The bloke before the Scottish woman who thought GI challenged stereotypes. The old lady before him who was concerned about 'women'. Confused me no end, for a moment. She meant 'men'.

Sounds like a frustrating debate. I expected as much.

lcakethereforeIam · 19/05/2025 17:38

Ffs some woman's quoting the GLP now!

Does anyone know who the minister is?

IwantToRetire · 19/05/2025 17:40

Bit of an eye opener, but shows that actual experience is more important.

ie 2 women from Scotland who have seen how self identity doesn't work are the only ones speaking out in Westminster.

Do none of the others speakers have no awareness of the shambles that happened north of the border?

And I think it is very telling that no one from the Government which has apparently said it will not be making any changes to the GRA, getting a GRC, is willing to come to this meeting and explain their position.

I have no doubt that if Starmer thought it would improve his ratings that Labour would push this through in this Parliament.

Particularly when it seems supporters of sex based rights are committed enough to turn up to discuss the issue.

OP posts:
TheOtherRaven · 19/05/2025 17:40

It sounds to be honest like the normal anti-reality/anti-women squad having a group prayer meeting.

IwantToRetire · 19/05/2025 17:41

Again mention of how insulting spousal refusal is.

@TinselAngel

OP posts:
lcakethereforeIam · 19/05/2025 17:45

The woman who mentioned the spousal exit! I'll generously assume she doesn't know wtf fuck she's talking about. Wilful ignorance. She should be ashamed.

lcakethereforeIam · 19/05/2025 17:47

The sky's holding up quite well here in the UK too.

IwantToRetire · 19/05/2025 17:53

What none of them are explaining is that if being trans isn't a medical condition why does anyone need a certificate.

Why should this life style need a certificate.

Earliere speakers have said primarily most trans people are people who have no intention of getting any medical intervention.

I had a private bet with myself that someone would cry.

And now it has happened, rather later than I expected.

OP posts:
IwantToRetire · 19/05/2025 17:58

ooops! typo has mangled meaning.

Particularly when it seems supporters of sex based rights are committed enough to turn up to discuss the issue.

Particularly when it seems supporters of sex based rights are NOT committed enough to turn up to discuss the issue.

This is so depressing. Where are the supporters of women’s sex-based rights?

GreenwichPips · 19/05/2025 18:04

Who is the woman with brown curly hair in the dark red blouse?

Edited

What's that court case going on today... The trans MP up on a harassment charge because he wanted his ex wife to continue being his emotional support doormat?

Ironic timing.
