You don't get it, do you Nic love? I don't have enough eye-rolls for the idea that trans-identified men are never predatory or abusive, especially in the face of so much evidence to the contrary.

What rights? The SC ruling clarified the law as it is and always has been, which is that trans people don't have the right to treated as if they were the opposite sex. Or does she just mean "It's really unfair that they're going to have to abide by the same rules as everyone else rather than demanding special privileges"?

You would think a former First Minister who was also a solicitor would know what the law had been all along. She destroyed Scotland, watched it crumble into the shitheap it has become, while she merrily tried to destroy women's rights, endanger children and isolate parents from their children. So much money was wasted on her ridiculous and dangerous Self ID law. The damage that's been done, the women and children affected by her arrogance, her gaslighting, her bitterness towards Westminster will never be righted. She should hang her head in shame instead of talking shit for whatever bit of publicity she can get. I think looking back we can see she always took the decision which would maximise opposition, while putting the Scottish government on ever weaker legal ground.

She knew that Scotland didn't have the legal power to pass the act and that it was possible the Tories would block it.

I mean the the incredible women who stood against her achieved this, but she through incompetence or fanaticism made it easier.

@fromorbit of course there's a theory that she wanted Westminster to block the bill, in order to boost support for independence.

I just can't stand her - and I used to be a fan. I was thinking of going to the How The Light Gets In festival, but I saw she was a speaker and that really put me off. I don't want to be in the same postcode as her!

To be fair, her career was trashed over a whole lot of other incompetence - ferries, missing donations, a motorhome bought and parked on her MIL's drive, deleting loads of emails during Covid - I could go on.

The Times has been, mostly, very good on this issue and for many years too.

And whether Bryson was "true trans" or just "at it", he was enabled in predatory behaviour at the beauty course where he was enrolled by claiming to be trans - the 16-year old girls who objected were told he was a woman and they were transphobic. 16-year-old girls were not allowed to say no to a predator.

It was coming face to face with the fact that a predatory and abusive man was identifying as a trans woman which pretty much ended Sturgeon's political career. How can she not realise that?

I think it must be infuriating for those like your friends who were working at grassroots level for what they believed in.

Although I was not for indy I can absolutely see how angry and hurt you must be...because of being involved in the Scottish fight against genderism I've met a lot of women like yourself on the indy side and their feelings very much echo yours.

I think that bringing women in Scotland together across the political divide on this issue has been a real positive in a sea of shite!

Despite the Isla Bryson leggings picture making her look insane she carried on giving car crash interviews. I don't like her or the SNP but she was certainly gifted at the game of politics and an excellent speaker. So if she couldn't make it sound reasonable (because it's so clearly not) then every other politician should have learned the lesson fast.

She's now wedded to this and thinks that the 'look how nice and understanding Scottish people are compared to the big bad Reform voters in England' spiel will work.

I cannot comprehend how a clearly intelligent woman does not understand this. I'm starting to think these people genuinely believe that when a man says he identifies as a woman he then becomes a woman. The amount of people who are saying "but men are the problem not trans women". THEY ARE FUCKING MEN!

I just don’t understand the logic. Predatory men are a danger for women. So we should let any and all men into female single sex spaces because they say they are women. Not that you are allowed to ask the question. You should just assume that a man in a single sex space is a woman. They may be of rapist gender or “at it” but that never happens or even if it does the most important thing is to respect a chosen gender identity with no question.

If you happen to be assaulted or raped by a predatory male who declares that he is a woman, it’s probably societies fault if they had been more accepting of his womanhood then he wouldn’t need to rape. It’s all right though he can now complete his metamorphosis to she and be absolved of any pesky misdemeanours like rape, new name, no criminal record.

You probably just need to check your cis privilege, reframe your trauma and understand who really are the most marginalised, victimised, misunderstood, just want to pee, people of all time.

She's standing down as a MSP at the next Scottish elections this time next year. She is positioning herself to take the helm at one of the big "equality" charities, either in the UK or overseas.
