Greens internal drama warms up

New long article looking at the drama inside the Greens over biology suddenly existing again despite their best efforts.

How the Green Party forgot the environment and was torn apart by trans rows
It was a party united by a single mission – to save the planet. But now the gender identity debate has left it divided and in chaos

https://archive.is/TOlNx

The article is already out of date as Zack Polanski of hypnotic breasts fame has just launched a leadership bid against Deyner and Ramsey.

Emma Bateman
It's no secret that big boobs Polanski wants the top job. He is a student politics slogan churner, a self server who distains women and wants misgendering misdemeanours to be grounds for expulsion from the Greens.
He is "LGB with the T"
Still NO DEBATE!

Pro-women Greens article on his background:;
https://concernedgreens.uk/watchlist/zack-polanski/

The existence of biology is likely to be a significant part of the leadership contest for sure so interesting to watch .

Ali Shahrar has launched another legal challenge against the Greens. Gardening needed.

May 27th is the date for Emma Bateman's legal hearing against the Greens.

On May 27th I am in court against Green Party in a case which will expose the contorted lengths the Greens go to in order to shut women up.

It isn't going to go well for the Greens given the Supreme Court ruling. This could be key moment in seeing the ruling's effect on politics and directly impact the leadership contest. It will also be probably be infuriating and hilarious in equal measure.

GWD were outside the Green conference today having fun and have issued a statement on being cancelled:

(the official special interest group for women) have been inside with postcards, badges and the occasional visit from a Peer of the Realm.

Greens in trouble:

Green deputy leader defends comments on Leeds rabbi

ZP on the radio today interview over various antisemitic elements inside the Greens goes wrong good examination from Shahrar.

Shahrar Ali

Simply world class journalism from Justinonweb on BBCr4today - even better with the visual. Justin incredibly incisive in this segment & simply won't let Polanski get away with his evasiveness (a favourite technique of his being to reframe everything).
From
BBC Radio 4 Today

Once was a time when Green Party genuinely believed in answering questions faithfully & upholding the accountability that comes with transparency. But nowadays you will see hostility towards inquisitive interviewers seeking candour - as if we need to conceal what we really think.
Reason Zack looks and sounds so apprehensive throughout is because he's been schooled on no debate.
He hates debate and it's clear they will never put Mothin up for interview. Either they do not trust him to deliver a good interview or they are genuinely terrified of what he might say.

Shahrar Ali

Knowing how press office works, this is all about trying to create an alternative headline to neutralise the story they don't want to talk about.
Our drugs policy isn't new and was always regarded as something of a liability.
All about media manipulation.

I noticed in his radio interview ZP referred to himself more than once as “a Jewish man”. I would have expected “person” from such a genderist, and was a little surprised. JW was indeed very good, ZP both belligerent and evasive.

The cynic in me wonders whether Zach's charisma and superficial appeal has the Conservatives and Reform worried. Labour is bleeding support. They won't want that support ending up with the Greens. But are aware that many people don't know much about them other than they 'care about the environment'. As seen in Scotland, an alliance involving the Greens would be a nightmare.

I think his superficial charm and charisma has all parties worried. The media are bored with current politicians even Farage now because he's been around so long and they're looking for someone new to plaster everywhere. As we know from Farage it won't really matter what he says so much as how he's perceived. For a lot of ppl who are anti reform/tories and also anti labour, all they're seeing and hearing atm is sound bites of a man saying what they think labour should have been saying.

borntobequiet · 04/10/2025 08:18

From the article above, Polanski appears to be an entirely self-madeup person. He seems to be a compulsive fantasist and liar. He almost makes Farage look respectable.

SionnachRuadh · 04/10/2025 09:53

Well, as we know from Scotland, the Greens don't get nearly enough scrutiny, and even many Green voters don't seem to be much aware of them except they have a vague idea of them caring for the environment. Polanski as a superficially charismatic man who says the things lots of Labour voters wish Labour would say is something that should worry Labour, especially when they've got Ron Manager as PM.

There was an article in the Sunday Times a few months ago about Labour's polling woes where a highly placed source was saying "we're lucky the Greens are so shit, if they ever got a charismatic leader we'd be another ten points down." I think now we'll get to test that.

The thing about the realignment is, it's clear the Tories are being replaced, but there isn't yet an obvious force to replace Labour. My money is on the shapeshifting Lib Dems because of their natural gift for shameless opportunism, but Zack will give it a fair old go.

Lalgarh · 04/10/2025 09:58

I heard a bit of his speech on news. You can tell he's had speechifying training probably at drama school.

Started calm the gradually rose in intensity and anger at (Farage) UNTIL A GREAT CRESCENDO AND ROUSING APPLAUSE!!!!

Got the green audience chanting Refugees Are Welcome Here as the punchline. Whether he can lead a functioning party is another matter altogether. He said there should be more pylons, which paradoxically the greens in east Anglia under Adrian Ramsay were campaigning against

He's not got Green principles. Im not sure if he has principles at all, tbh. Hes a conman - manipulative, mendacious, and nasty.

I should be aghast that people fall for it, but then conmen are charming, and sometimes supposedly charismatic.

People are and will fall for it, that's the problem and the only ppl who can point this out are the media - but they've already collectively decided to promote him at all times

ArabellaScott · 04/10/2025 10:37

I find it a bit bewildering because to me he seems fairly obviously a serial misrepresenter. But maybe thats because I witnessed him in action when a member of the Greens.

ArabellaScott · 04/10/2025 10:38

And the way he acted towards women with views he didnt like was eye opening.

MarieDeGournay · 04/10/2025 10:53

I haven't been following the Green's 'internal drama' to be honest - I'm not a UK subject so fortunately will never have to decide who to vote for, god knows it's hard enough deciding who to vote for in Irish elections!😬

But I'm glad I clicked on one of the links provided by fromorbit and found this:
Conference25 — Green Women's Declaration

I'm impressed at the level of detail, and the emphasis on the link between 'Green' issues+ women's rights. The section that starts

  1. SEX IS REAL...
is brilliantly clear, to-the-point and succinct, and every politician or candidate everywhere - starting with ZPWink- should be forced to state what it is they think is wrong with each of the eight points!
Lalgarh · 04/10/2025 10:57

Sky just had a bit of Mothin Ali as Deputy. Main thing was genocide in Gaza, which he is insisting on pronouncing "authentically" as"guzzZA" unlike the mainstream media (round of titters from audience).

Now they're switching back to a report on the cocaine trade in Columbia. Interesting and had tangential relevance as Polanski says he wants to legalise all drugs. So. 30kg of coca leaves is needed for 70g of Gak. The plants take more than 2 years to grow to maturity in areas of cleared rainforest, and the farmers are paid a pittance.

Will Polanski insist on fair trade cocaine grown from sustainable sources? What the carbon footprint of this?

MarieDeGournay · 04/10/2025 11:21

There's nothing funny about people pronouncing a placename 'authentically'.
If you speak the local language, it is actually quite difficult to pronounce placenames in any other way.

For instance, if you are a fluent French speaker, it feels funny to pronounce Dordogne as 'Dore-doyne' like 'the mainstream media' tend to pronounce it.
Or Marseille as 'Mah-say'.

If you are a fluent Irish speaker, it would feel funny to pronounce the title of our Prime Minister, the Taoiseach, as the commonly heard in the media 'Tee-shock'.

If you speak the local language of Gaza, even if you are not from Gaza, I can easily understand that you would automatically pronounce it like the locals do.

NasturtiumsAreUnderrated · 04/10/2025 11:22

@ArabellaScott it's so frustrating that when a 'Green' leader finally gets some media coverage he isn't actually green and therefore doesn't argue for a green approach to political problems.

The problem is compounded by media ignorance. They don't know how to feed him questions to facilitate exposition of a green position, nor how to challenge green or pseudo-green arguments. They conspire with him to propagate the idea that green politics is primarily about social justice, with a dollop of tree-hugging nimbyism.

During the GE I realised that we're really hampered by the all but ubiquitous ignorance about what the climate and biodiversity crises actually amount to, what the policy trade-offs are and what a serious commitment to tackling the unfolding catastrophes would entail. Voters on Q and A programmes who clearly cared about green issues didn't have the knowledge to ask penetrating questions, so politicians got away with vague, general answers that signalled a sort of tribal or tonal position, but were almost totally free of informational content. I tried submitting better questions, but they were never selected.

I guess it will come down to whether there are more younger, radicalised, 'progressive' identitarians than there are working class ex Labour party demographics and all the others who are currently drawn to Reform. My guess is the second group is considerably larger.

Yes, Woody Allen's 'Zelig' character comes to mind. He's so far shape shifted from hypnotist to Lib Dem candidate and now to a radical Green activist.

And also having been an actor, where he's got the communication skills - which he is good at - and the ability to play a character. From the hypnotism I think he takes a belief in the power of positive thinking.

I think it might be the inauthenticity that gets him in the end. If you're going to position yourself as an anti-establishment figure you have to be at least a bit authentic.

He's obviously very ambitious and driven. The comments, in an above post, suggest, interestingly, that he seems to be trying to avoid having his actual unrehearsed thoughts exposed by continually re-framing questions to suit the script he has practised. But I guess this is what all career politicians do.
