Welcome all. The booze here is minimally intoxicating, the food is calorie free and the staff are warm and cuddly. And if the thread title sounds nonsensical, blame the guy Myrtle was listening to this evening!

Well, @Bannedontherun, may I just say that you are clearly a woman of impeccable taste 🤣.

Swashbuckled · 15/05/2025 22:27

I do like a bowl of crisps in the evening; thick, crunchy kettle-type crisps. I seem to go through phases with the flavours; maybe a few months of one. I’ve just switched to what used to be called ready salted, but is probably now lightly salted with whiskers of mountain salt ground by llamas flavour. Anyway, I’m enjoying the subtlety.

Ddog2 is much better now - pretty much back to normal,I’m think. She ate her tea with her usual gusto, and ds3 took them out for a walk.

That’s good, dogs can be very resilient. I’m sorry about your dilemma with your FiL.

Looking good, Swashy. You'll need to keep @MarieDeGournay at arm's length!

I'm being being very well-behaved around Swash these days, haven't you noticed? I'm not flirting with her any more, she never flirted back, did she?
Still think she's gorgeous but she's just not that into me - she obviously prefers crispsGrin

I love you Marie your posts elsewhere are always excellent.

Good morning all denizens of the Bluestocking! I know it's early but I fancied meeting up with Fuzzy and going outside, seeing if we could spot any hares. Had an exciting evening yesterday at the Eurovision Song contest semi finals, about which I know nothing, so need a bit of nature bathing today and some calm company.

Ah Inky isn't it a beautiful morning for a post Eurovision chill?
It's very comfy on your head too.

My thoughts exactly!

ErrolTheDragon · 16/05/2025 07:40

Trying not to take ‘nature bathing’ too literally. Blackbirds, willow warblers and a cuckoo more to my taste than Eurovision!

I'll second wot Banned said. I'm not very good at recognising MNers from their posts usually. If they name change they're completely new people afaic, but Marie has a certain elan that I can often recognise.

Which reminds me the Lotus Elan, lovely car, beautiful name. The Lotus Eclat, lovely car, but what you'd name your Elan after it had run into a wall.

MarieDeGournay · 16/05/2025 10:30

Oh wow, first Banned and now Cake ('Elan' - love it!) saying nice things about my posts elsewhere - the real me behind the username is genuinely pleased and grateful, and it's a lovely start to the day to feel validated like that, thank you Smile xx

The anonymity of MN has been very liberating for me - it's not that I have any specific need to be anonymous - I know some women fear reprisals at work or in their family - not me - I've just never liked being 'out there' on the internet, I've never joined any social media platforms etc.

I'm not good a arguing my point in real life, so it's great to have the time to think and reflect and check words and facts and figures before actually posting something.

Best of all though is being able to think of or read about something silly/witty/obscure/unlikely/fun/cute/outrageous/revealing/incredible/
and thinking
'I must share that with the Bluestockingers, they'll love it!'
which is something I don't have in real life - some people might get some of my references or jokes, but I'm more likely to get an eye-roll. Often an affectionate eye-roll, but nonetheless..

Whereas there is an eager audience for everything and anything, no matter how obscure or silly, in the Bluestocking and I love that💙

lcakethereforeIam · 16/05/2025 10:36

I had to Google 'elan' before I used it.

lcakethereforeIam · 16/05/2025 10:39

Perhaps I should name change? Icakethereforeelan?

.... <cautious twirl>

Nah!

We are evolving a plan for dh to go down to Exeter next Friday - if FIL will come up from Penzance, and if BIL and SIL can drive over - they can have a family meal, and it won't mean a night away for dh - it will be a long day, but no longer than the work days he goes to London or Birmingham.

Sounds like a good plan! It's nice to get these things in place. Copilot has a little story to tell which includes an unwanted feather boa and a surprise passenger - hello Fuzzy!

MarieDeGournay · 16/05/2025 12:36

Is Woley a wolf?? I've never understood your username but I reckoned it was probably a reference to something beyond my limited ken, and just stuck with 'Woley'.
Smile

It sounds like you have worked out a 'do-able' plan for FIL, and I hope it goes well. Having a nice shiny orange helicopter to bring you to Exeter and back will make things so much easier, won't it?Grin
If only, eh? wouldn't it be wonderful to be picked up from home by a helicopter [entirely environmentally friendly and carbon neutral, naturellement..] and then plonked down exactly where you need to be...

Inky - you said you wanted to see hares, and unfortunately just missed the Bluestocking's own hare, Hare, as she disappeared.
Well how's this for a coincidence - the post was delivered here shortly afterwards, and in it was a little thank-you from a peatland preservation group I support: a 'lepus timidus hibernicus' badge!

I'll give it to you next time I see you in the Bluestocking, Inky, that way you'll always be able to see a hare when you want toSmile

Well, i don't live a million miles from Exeter, so it is entirely possible Woley and I would have a day out!

FuzzyPuffling · 16/05/2025 12:45

DH and I had a proper day out yesterday. It was very nice.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/05/2025 15:30

@MarieDeGournay - the Wolef thing comes from someone misspelling wolf, when discussing those fleeces with pictures of wolves on them. I found it funny, so I added it to my username. I also remember watching a cartoon, called It’s the Wolf, where one of the characters saw a wolf and called it a wolef. Way back in the last century, when I was a child! 😂😂😂
