Nursery Pride face painting

insomniaclife · 26/04/2025 12:55

Went to pick up three year old from nursery.
Staff and all kids in her class had rainbows painted on their faces.
“nice rainbows” I said. Staff said “we’re celebrating Pride”.

Is this normal? The timing seems odd - it’s not Pride week is it?

OP posts:

Which specific ones?

Look yourself. LGB people are part of LGBTQ.

Rainbow face paint is completely harmless.

This is absolutely untrue. My DC reacted to face paints - it would cause days of nasty eczema. I would be absolutely furious if nursery caused harm to my child like that.

Pride is a political organisation and therefore has no place in nursery.

The OP didn't start this thread to raise concerns about eczema and you know it.
But I'll rephrase if it helps you to stay on topic: "The concept of using face paint on children who were in attendance that day and had correct permissions is not harmful in itself."

Picking apart simple facts with "yeah, buts" to confuse reality is what the other side do. "Yeah it's nursery face paint and we don't actually know the context in which it was talked about with the children, but Pride is political and rainbows are also used by Trans people Angry" is the same argument style as, "yeah but some women don't have wombs, yeah but some amphibians change sex Angry."

Yeah, this thread and the response to some harmless face painting for one

My child’s painful eczema means nothing to you?

Well that is definitely homophobic

What about it/them are specifically anti LGB?

I can think of maybe 2 comments/posters, but that’s not a while thread/rhetoric.

LOL, how is that homophobic? What do you think the LGB in LGBTQ stands for?

I’m enjoying the ironic juxtaposition of posts on here saying there is no need for pride because being LGB is mainstream and nobody is homophobic, and the posts insinuating that being LGBT basically makes you a pedophile. Good work team.

pride (although has become politicized)

Pride hasn’t become politicised, it has always been a political protest movement.

Yes it has, apologies, I meant in terms of the Trans movement and the TQ+ element.

RapidOnsetGenderCritic · 27/04/2025 09:09

I have already admitted that I misread it. Do I have to apologise as well? I'm sorry I got this wrong, and I will wear sackcloth and ashes for the next half hour for my sin of passive aggressive scepticism.

No, I genuinely find it really intriguing when people can be bothered to make passive aggressive accusations at other posters (twice, in this case) but haven’t bothered to read the thread and check they are right. I’m intrigued by the thought process.

I don’t think the point was about reactions to the physical effects of face paint! I’m sure the nursery would know about allergies in advance and known which children to avoid

CleaningSilverCandlesticks · 27/04/2025 09:44

Come on - nurseries will have to get permission for face painting which you would have denied. This thread wasn't about skin conditions in children.

Lesbian and Gay

But what do you think those words mean? That if a lesbian if not attracted to a man who identifies as a woman then they are a sexual racist? That they are prejudiced and need to be re-educated? That they must be taken to court and punished if men are not allowed on lesbian dating apps? Or that gay men must include women in their dating pool and at their clubs and saunas if that woman identifies as a man?

Do you think lesbians are attracted to certificates?

I think it's for individual gay and lesbian people to decide whether they're attracted to trans people or not. Some will be, some won't be and that's fine.

Cailleach1 · 27/04/2025 10:17

Maybe start young. Indoctrinate any potential, future Lesbians that they have no right to deny men access to their spaces, and should repress any thinking they have a right to organise as a group. They uniquely should override their sexual orientation and accept the doctrine. Otherwise, make them believe they are truly following the god of ‘hate’.

Some ideologues think lesbians now have deny their rights to their sexual orientation and open their groups to be playthings of men (in whatever guise they present themselves). As mentioned above, lesbians who won’t do this were called ‘sexual racists’ by some very ‘progressive’ men’s entitlements (sorry, meant trans positive) proponent. A giant step in progress for man, indeed.

Lesbian is the only exclusively female group in the rainbow. Why is everyone promoting trampling on lesbians? Oh, maybe the answer is in the question.

Cailleach1 · 27/04/2025 10:22

I’m not sure I believe that some women are lesbians because they haven’t met the right variety of man. I thought it was about same sex attracted sexual orientation.

It is bisexual when someone is sexually attracted to both men and women.

And if it really was for Lesbian Visibility week and “celebrating rainbow families” to have it reduced/obscured to Pride, makes what happened at the OP’s nursery even worse.

You’ve just rightly made a stand for engaging with what’s actually been written in the thread.

I don’t think anyone has said that being LGBT basically makes you a pedophile. If anyone has, I vehemently disagree with them.

Some people have said that the foundational queer theorists thought the project they were engaged in included breaking down boundaries that stood between adult-child sexual relations.

That’s just true. The stigma should not attach to those pointing it out.

That’s very different from saying all people who use that term are abusers, any more than all Catholics, etc are.

Just do we want to paint nursery children in Catholic pride? I’d say not. Older children who can form a view on what these symbols mean to them and what they do or don’t endorse, fair enough.

TRAs object strongly to that view. They’d call you a bigot and consider your view as anti LGBTQ rhetoric.

Trans people I know in real life don't and unlike many on here I don't conflate a minority of people with more extreme views for an entire community. That's always what is done to minority groups.

You were dredging up quotes from 30 or 40 odd years ago that have no relevance to today to try and conflate those things. Stop playing innocent please, you know what you were doing.
