Pedro Pascal has called JK Rowling a 'heinous loser' - lovely. She can add that to 'bitch', 'fascist' and all the other offensive thoughtless nonsense that has been thrown at her

He was recently photographed wearing a t shirt that says 'Protect The Dolls'. Apparently 'dolls' is an 'affectionate' term for men who identify as trans within some parts of the LGBTQetc community

If ever we had any doubt that trans women were a sexualized fantasy version of what a woman actually is, doubt no more. How utterly grim

It’s a shame, he’s an extremely charismatic actor and is excellent in a number of things I’ve seen him in.

It’s nice that he loves and supports his half brother. It’s shit that he has to be misogynistic while he does do.

If you want to support Luz, Pedro, ask the blokes to budge up. Broaden the bandwidth of what’s acceptable for them to be.

Yes I wish men would stop fucking demanding accommodations from women while expecting so little of their own sex class. 'Ohhhh we couldn't expect MEN to be more inclusive of other men!'

needmoresheep · 26/04/2025 09:11

Protect the dolls but not women🙄

Reads more like women being told to be kind again to trans women and to stop rocking the boat, after all these ‘dolls’ are far more pretty than you ugly hags. Media lovies preaching to normal people again.

Are we meant to protect all dolls or just the very pretty ones? What about the ones that even with a huge amount of surgery will never pass?

NeverOneBiscuit · 26/04/2025 09:16

So Pedro gets a t-shirt that says the quiet part out loud.

BabyOrca · 26/04/2025 09:27

Dolls is a weird word for them to use. Dolls are fakes of real girls and women

Tilda Swinton as well FFS

This is upsetting. She was denouncing pronoun nonsense before…

UrsulasHerbBag · 26/04/2025 09:34

Protect the dolls is about TiMs. He doesn’t want to protect the TiFs? Where’s his protect the G.I Joe Tshirts?

Exactly. I think blow up dolls, Valley of the Dolls, Andrea Long Chu quotes etc

Chrysanthemum5 · 26/04/2025 09:56

Ah yes Pedro who has anxiety at events such as promoting his films - which is apparently helped by close physical contact with his young female co stars. How fortunate for him that women are conditioned to accept being pawed at

RethinkingLife · 26/04/2025 09:57

The slogan gives me the creeps.

Not because of the decades of referring to women as dollybirds to justify the post WW2 ‘back to the home and leave your jobs for the men’. Not even the way that it shored up different pay scales for the same job.

My immediate association is with PD James’ Children of Men. I had a visceral reaction to the scenes where the childless women cared for dolls, taking them out for walks in prams, celebrating their birthdays. It was a large scale immersive fiction to cope with the global catastrophic collapse in fertility and the imminent end of humans as a species.

Bella Ramsay (or to me, she will always be Lyanna Mormont 😍).

Bella has been getting relentlessly trolled and bullied for not looking enough like the video game version of the character she plays in The Last Of Us - mainly by creepy men who clearly have something going on there as the character is 14 years old in the first game/series.

It always seemed to me like Pascal took on a very fucking bizarre 'role model' position but as an older man and a vulnerable young woman being subject to an immense pile on, it always seemed a bit off. That nobody questioned this dynamic is also off.

This is what I’ve been thinking. I was really concerned about her anyway, and realising that he was part of it- makes it extra awful. Poor kid.

His dad was a fertility specialist that stole women’s eggs.

Wow, I didn't know that, just looked it up. Runs in the family then.

This in the Guardian today 🙄

https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2025/apr/25/protect-the-dolls-t-shirt-fashion-symbol-trans-rights

I can’t tell you the rage all this utter performative bollocks this creates in me.

My LinkedIn is full of fucking “male allies” and clueless women with pictures of themselves holding cards up saying “trans women welcome in my space” or some such shit.

I know it is a cheap insult but seriously how can such seemly smart people be so dim witted?

You have to ask why the male allies aren’t holding up the signs about welcoming transwomen in their spaces.

bathofbeans · 26/04/2025 10:08

Calling a human a 'doll' objectifies, full stop.

They are male names for women they are objectifying: baby doll, blow up doll, sex doll. Dolls are plastic, fake, to be dressed up how you wish.

It speaks volumes that men who dress as women do it as a play thing, to objectify, and make themselves into the doll of what they think a woman should be.

YRGAM · 26/04/2025 10:15

Campinthe50s · 26/04/2025 08:18

What a spitefully stupid post. Most of us don’t rise to the very top of our respective fields. Most of us are therefore in ‘supporting’ roles. So presumably you think 99% of the population are ‘losers’.

I’m 100% GC and I can’t agree at all that slagging people for not rising to be in the top 1% is anything to do with feminism.

Huh? The point is that if you're going to call someone a loser, you need to be less of a loser than the person you're calling a loser. That's not the case here

Rightsraptor · 26/04/2025 10:24

All anyone needs to do to scotch the idea of 'dolls' is to make a montage of the 6' beardies, with their jutting jaws & brows and shovels-for-hands, dressed in their baby doll pyjamas.

Then everyone would know who we're talking about.

BunnyLake · 26/04/2025 10:30

OuterSpaceCadet · 25/04/2025 19:49

Why can't this dude protect his brother and others like him by helping men's spaces become more inclusive?

His t-shirt is simply ordering women to do the work.

And "dolls" eh. I'm pretty sure there's quite a lot a transwomen out there who wouldn't get called this. But it's ok let's still continue to sell them an utterly unobtainable dream.

But women - who were the subjects of the term “doll” - aren’t reclaiming it, are they? Someone else is.

If straight men started calling each other the word “faggot” affectionately, they’d just be using an offensive word that gay people found objectionable, wouldn’t they? They wouldn’t be “reclaiming” it. It was never applied to them in the first place.

Men making use of - not “reclaiming” - a sexist term about women is just men appropriating a sexist term.

Exactly. You could say the same about “bitch”.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 26/04/2025 10:40

I know he's very famous, but this just smacks of him being a bit desperate to stay cool and relevant as he's getting older, and being willing to put other people down in order to do so. Not a good look really.

Ah thanks both, she was great in Game of Thrones. That's a shame she's been bullied and abused online. That would be a whole other thread though; about the misogynistic, sexist and frankly, creepy behaviour of male gamers and the gaming "community" as a whole.

It's not a surprise then that's she struggling with her identity and also autistic. Seems to go hand in hand; something Hilary Cass discusses at length in her Cass report. This movement is so sexist and awful but also harmful to vulnerable young people.

Someone up thread got it right; he can support his younger sibling without attacking women's rights. That he is choosing to do so is very telling and also disappointing. Men need to accept a wider spectrum of manhood and masculinity, not push it onto women. Dress, wear, be whatever you like but don't force others to have to do something they aren't comfortable with.

Pedro seems to have been quite disturbed by the whole situation. "It was a period of great fear,” he said in Spanish. “I grew up with my family in the U.S., and one day to the next, there was no longer a home to return to. Suddenly, the idea of the safe nest had disappeared. It was shocking because, in the previous years, I took for granted the privileged life we had in California.” https://people.com/all-about-pedro-pascal-parents-8422849

Pedro Pascal voices and often acts as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian.

I'd rather lose the Potterverse than Star Wars if forced to pick.

I don't know why people in the creative arts are so involved in politics nowadays.

Blame Elvis, he probably started it.
Star Wars vs Potter, please.

Imagine if women started going around wearing t shirts saying 'protect women' in the context of this conversation. There was a near collective combustion at 'adult human female'.

Thank you, I needed some levity. I really try not to comment on peoples appearance because one should treat others how they wish to be treated. I just wish there was greater self-awareness and self deprecation in this whole situation. I think the trans people wouldn’t come off as so ‘mentally I’ll’ and ‘unreasonable’ if they could laugh at themselves a little.

I'm adding this image which I first saw on MN a few days ago and think it needs another airing here
