Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

a list of men or companies who have stood up for us

Like so many here, I have been disheartened by the lack of support from so many famous men, those I liked and or admired are now and will forever be in my blacklist. Same for companies.
This whole experience has been so hard and I thank all the incredible women who carried on and spoke for us...
However, who are the men who were on our side? Andrew Neil? Piers Morgan? There aren't many but would love to hear some names of those who put women first...

Oh, i had missed that. That's very funny! I'll have to buy some Birds Eye.

Children are into potato waffles for their weekly 'beige' tea, and I begrudge it even less now!!

Friartruckster · 20/04/2025 21:27

I hope Graham Linehan will now be ‘uncancelled’. His career ruined as a consequence of his position on biological sex is criminal.

Pudmyboy · 20/04/2025 21:29

I know it's repetition but wanted to say my favourites:
Graham Linehan, @glinner, has lost so much standing up for women and girls. I hope his new venture in America brings him success and joy and I look forward to crying with laughter at his new writing;
Mr Menno, fearless and funny;
James Dreyfus who has been buried by the leftie luvvies in the arts for supporting women.

I have a fond wish: that JKR works with Glinner to write something wonderful, well plotted and very funny (possibly even the new HP series), and it will star James Dreyfus and Mr Menno (unless he prefers a more behind the scenes role), with other supportive actors in other roles. But mainly starring James. He has been an early and ongoing supporter at great cost to his working life.

Gawd bless 'em, every one!

Spineless mentions;

Steve Coogan, Brian May and Steven King all dipped their toe in and totally backtracked and crumbled cowardly at the first bit of backlash.

Coogan has a lot of form for being a twat.

Scott Wortley

Steven Fry has also blotted hus copy book on this issue

Yes, James was marvellous.

He really does have a way with words!

MadeofCoffee · 20/04/2025 21:32

Ben Cooper was marvelous.

Justme56 · 20/04/2025 21:33

Oliver Brown - sports journalist at the Telegraph.

NoFineBalance · 20/04/2025 21:34

Didn't James T Kirk himself, William Shatner, stand up for women on the trans issue? I'm pretty sure he had a twitter spat with Mr Sulu over the matter.

WilfredsPies · 20/04/2025 21:34

Another odd political input came from Tony Blair who tried to warn Labour off this subject saying don’t have an argument with JkR

I firmly believe that a large part of the reason for this is there being nobody in Labour who is capable of taking her on without making themselves look like massive idiots. She’d wipe the floor with the lot of them.

The GB News men unpalatable as that is to many.

I was just about to write that, particularly the guys on Headliners who have really done their homework on this. (Except Eamon Holmes who doesn’t have a clue about anything)
And also Elon Musk who opened up Twitter to GC opinions.
This whole list seems a really random selection!

The McGann brothers.

Certainly not Paul’s wife or any of their family she was very upset this week on Facebook and included the rest of her family

NoFineBalance · 20/04/2025 21:34

Matthew Syed, sports writer at the Times, author and podcaster.

abracabarbara · 20/04/2025 21:35

Has Andrew Gilligan been mentioned?

Mmmnotsure · 20/04/2025 21:36

Ted Cruz (can hardly believe I'm typing that)

To people like them this is the only stance. You have to agree with them on this issue. Because otherwise you’re wrong.

He’s always hated women.

Everyone at Spiked; Tom Slater, Fraser Myers, Brendan O’Neill

Ooh interesting! I knew George Takei is very TWAW but not about Shatner having common sense on this...

Dmsandfloatydress · 20/04/2025 21:39

Wes streeting was my MP. Was definitely TWAW as i wrote and asked! Even when his constituency was full of Muslim women!

RhannionKPSS · 20/04/2025 21:40

No, George is a misogynist bawbag

SidewaysOtter · 20/04/2025 21:40

This is a brilliant thread! It's good to see those who stood up for us, even when they probably got a kicking for it, being recognised. Especially the amazing Ben Cooper KC.

As for those who stood quietly by - wilfully misunderstanding, wanting to signal your virtue or not giving a toss because this didn't affect you - we don't forget, you know.

Mmmnotsure · 20/04/2025 21:41

Sam Barber

Sorry if I’ve missed it but can’t believe Joe Rogan hasn’t been mentioned. He’s been absolutely steadfast and has given a huge platform to a wide variety of GC voices.

He hasn’t at all! He’s definitely come around, but he’s one of those that agrees with the person he’s speaking to. He was in full agreement with Eddie Izzard, and probably plenty of others too
