a list of men or companies who have stood up for us

Like so many here, I have been disheartened by the lack of support from so many famous men, those I liked and or admired are now and will forever be in my blacklist. Same for companies.
This whole experience has been so hard and I thank all the incredible women who carried on and spoke for us...
However, who are the men who were on our side? Andrew Neil? Piers Morgan? There aren't many but would love to hear some names of those who put women first...

Its a bit tenuous but at least we don't have to boycott them 😂

That would be so sad. Imagine a world without Tunnocks.

Yes I think their response to the request was "potato".

Edited

Yes, it was hilarious. The Birds Eye sm person just kept on replying ‘potato ‘ to the demands to cancel mumsnet. To this day I make sure to buy their peas and fish fingers etc.

Doesn't surprise me at all. The man's a diamond who doesn't get half the respect or appreciation he should.

I love the interview when he's praised for being the 'first person ever to win two Olympic tennis gold medals' and he pointed out that Serena and Venus Williams had already got 'about 4 gold medals each' and another interview when another tennis player was praised for being 'the first US player to reach a major semi final since 2009' and Andy said 'first male'.

Yes! I’d forgotten this scandal. The transactivists put heavy pressure on companies to stop advertising on Mumsnet.

So, big shout-out to Justine and co, and also to Bird’s Eye and all the advertisers who resisted. Does anyone remember the other brands who stood up to the TAs? They’re going on my shopping list.

And to all the men and women named or not named on this thread, who stood up for women during this time of madness.

Thank you all! And we will undoubtedly still have need of each other as the misogynists settle in to claw back some of the privileges they’ve lost.

Not the point of the thread at all but I stopped buying any Flora products when they stopped advertising on MN because of pressure from TRAs. This was in 2019 but I remember them pulling their ads. I bought my first Flora product again recently but only out of desperation because my usual vegan butter wasn't available in the supermarket and I needed it for baking. But I would usually go for another brand if I can.

Flora ended its advertising partnership with Mumsnet in 2019 due to complaints about transphobia on the parenting website. Stop Funding Hate and other campaigners raised concerns that Mumsnet "platforms nasty attitudes and isn't doing enough to protect its members," according to the Stop Funding Hate website. Following the decision, The Independent reported that Mumsnet users declared a boycott of Flora margarine.

The decision to end the advertising partnership was made by Upfield, the parent company of Flora. The company stated that they are "wholly committed to our values, which include treating everyone equally, so have made the decision to no longer work with Mumsnet," according to Campaign Live.

Fred Sargeant, 74, founder member of the 1969 Stonewall riots, who was attacked by TRAs at the 39th Burlington Pride Parade in Vermont in 2022.

Love James Dreyfus
and Robert webb
and John Boynes apology was a masterclass on how to really see the problem and make a proper apology.

lineham has done so much and lost so much. I hope that his private life brings him some joy soon.

I don't think Richard Dawkins has been mentioned yet. He's been very strong on this.

So many scientists and atheists/professional sceptics have either been silent or have some kind of massive cognitive dissonance which enables them to pretend TWAW so it's been really great that he speaks out.

NoFineBalance · 20/04/2025 21:20

Andrew Doyle and all the other fellows on Free Speech Nation.

Kocduw · 20/04/2025 21:20

Andy Murray

NextRinny · 20/04/2025 21:21

What a lovely thread. I'd forgotten some of the battles lost and won.
I tried tunnocks because of the hoo-ha. Unfortunately I detest them.

AzurePanda · 20/04/2025 21:23

Sorry if I’ve missed it but can’t believe Joe Rogan hasn’t been mentioned. He’s been absolutely steadfast and has given a huge platform to a wide variety of GC voices.

That would be so sad. Imagine a world without Tunnocks.

Omg. Then we really would be in trouble. Let’s not even think about it.

Andy Murray

I love Andy Murray more than anyone and he's stood up for women's sports but I'm not sure he's ever stood up and said TWANW. The surgeon who did his hip resurfacing is a TW.

Wes Streeting

No he is a very very recent u turn. He was appalling back in the day. His tweets were awful on this. He was very much part of the group within labour to out and ostracise gc women, including rose duffield.
