Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

a list of men or companies who have stood up for us

siucra · 20/04/2025 19:17

Like so many here, I have been disheartened by the lack of support from so many famous men, those I liked and or admired are now and will forever be in my blacklist. Same for companies.
This whole experience has been so hard and I thank all the incredible women who carried on and spoke for us...
However, who are the men who were on our side? Andrew Neil? Piers Morgan? There aren't many but would love to hear some names of those who put women first...

I have always been impressed by Debbie Hayton's articles, and he accepts that he can never be a woman. He has always seemed to me to be a supporter. But obviously others know more than me about the issues with transgenderism in schools. Janice Turner, who has always been quite open in her support met him and was quite positive.

In a way I think it strengthens the case by hearing trans women admit that there's a strong element of sexual fetish involved.

Just one case like this should be enough to convince anyone that women need single sex spaces surely?

Steven Fry has also blotted hus copy book on this issue

He did a quiet reverse ferret recently I think

I am sorry, I have not seen his guidance, I saw him being interviewed many times, guidance never mentioned. Struck me as massively supporting women against this madness.

I bought the copy of the TES where he wrote a full double page spread around 2018. I still have it.

at the time no one was saying anything so it felt that him saying a few sex realist things was ground breaking. But when you read it it’s clear how he lays down a sex realist argument to distract but goes on to describe how to fully affirm children within schools.

deception at it’s highest level.

I know! It was quite the eye opener.

Women defer to other women with big boobs.

It was almost laughable, especially when you consider that barely a day goes by on here without women moaning about boob size

Absolutely! If anything, it is men who do that!!!! Had no idea.

Exactly.

watching Hayton mansplain why it's important for transwomen to show off their boobs in strappy dresses was highly enlightening

QueenProtea · 21/04/2025 12:08

Cannot believe that some people still think David Hayton is a friend to women.

He’s a self-absorbed, manipulative mysogynist.

This was the case that first really peaked me. The gaslighting was off the wall. Staff so indoctrinated by this harmful ideology that they denied the possibility that this poor woman could have been raped.

Fair enough - have a look at his work before he became quite vocal in the media.

I'm just not convinced, sorry - but obviously others may see him differently.

LlynTegid · 21/04/2025 12:57

The late Pope Francis. Very clear about biological sex not gender identity. Whatever else you think of his other views and the Catholic church in general.

Zelle70 · 21/04/2025 13:11

These are not celebrities but all the men in the SEEN groups across the nation.
My seen group is a 50% men/women ratio.

Greyskybluesky · 21/04/2025 13:22

The male academics I know who believe in truth, rational thought, reality, biological fact and women's rights. One in particular who was at serious risk of losing his job for stating facts. If people want to pay nearly £10K a year for their kids to be taught in a woke echo chamber then that's up to them, but these guys refused to compromise their integrity.

Barbadossunset · 21/04/2025 13:33

but these guys refused to compromise their integrity.

They were very brave, considering the consequences they faced.
Will everyone who was sacked for gender critical views be a) reinstated (if they want to be) and b) receive financial compensation?

Dunkou · 21/04/2025 13:34

Interesting list. A lot of amazing men, and a fair share of deplorable. All mainly older. I guess older men have less to lose, they have made their careers, and were around in the 80s when being fluid with how you dressed was pretty ordinary and didn’t mean you thought you had changed sex. And the deplorable men generally wouldn’t give a shit about any controversy about their views and speaking the truth, so they are bound to be heavily represented on the list.

Grayson Perry. I don’t think he would be seen as quite such the loveable eccentric if he wasn’t in a long-lived marriage with an intelligent woman. If he was single and publicly indulging his fetish he wouldn’t be tolerated to much.

I don’t have any famous men to add to the list. Just my boss, who some years ago made a completely sensible comment on Twitter supporting women’s sports being female only. We don’t work for a related sector, and it was a personal tweet. He was high up in the company and told by the board that he had to publicly apologise and retract. He said he would resign rather than do that. They backed down, but I do believe he would have resigned.

I admit to not having read through the whole thread but just wanted to say - my husband and all the other husbands/partners/boyfriends who have stood up locally whilst not famous they also have an impact (although more limited.) There are many more who I think will be more willing to call this issue our from now on.

Dripping water shapes rock. It’s the grass root opinion, quietly, thoughtfully and persistently stated that gently enters into the madness and people can no longer ignore.

Greyskybluesky · 21/04/2025 13:43

England Hockey

Everythingwillbeokay · 21/04/2025 14:13

Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook have no truck with all the madness

siucra · 21/04/2025 14:19

It’s wonderful to hear so many names. And especially Dominic and Tom who I love completely. And Robert Webb. But all of you with good men in your lives, it’s wonderful. I wonder if there are any men who are now listening to women and are going to apologise? We got it wrong, we are such incredible fools and we realise that we are total mysoginists and we are ashamed. James O’Brien? Come on. You’re an intelligent man.

I heard BoJo unexpectedly speaking some sense on the matter in the HoC towards the end of his tenure.

During the local elections in 2022 I think, I had a local Conservative candidate come round canvassing - with Carrie Johnson (plus baby).

I went full terf on both of them. Of course she was regarded as in the tra camp but I hoped she would fill BoJo in on the "awful" woman she met. She was polite, didnt challenge me - her colleague was very interested.

TheaBrandt1 · 21/04/2025 14:27

My Dh couldn’t compute what I was telling him about people saying men were actually women until he read it in the Economist. He always thought it was absolutely mental.

He is also deeply suspicious of the motives of men he doesn’t know and automatically as a default believes women over men and as a father of dds was never going to get on board with self ID.

Seainasive · 21/04/2025 14:28

Very rarely mentioned here but The Economist has been consistently excellent on this issue.

TheaBrandt1 · 21/04/2025 14:29

Relieved about tom and dominic. I won’t listen to all male podcasts any more but they are the exception to my self imposed rule!

Don’t want to derail thread but when you find a man who is fully on board with being GC, you can relax. Often you wonder do they secretly hate us (or are just thick). With Dominic and Tom, you can just enjoy their company.
