There have been so many issues over the last few years with trans rights clashing with women’s rights… its been fascinating, in a bad way.

some that come to mind:

A man photographed breastfeeding a newborn in a bus - and being used by the BBC to represent mothers for a story

A man running a rape crisis centre while saying he’s a women and telling women users of the service to ‘reframe their trauma’

a man saying he’s a women and being appointed to head a charity for endometriosis.

Male police officers who say they are women being allowed to strip search women.

What else…

It’s hard to believe all this is true, whoever said it reads like fever dreams / nightmares is right.

All those children who had their normal bodies mutilated by puberty blockers, who then changed their minds when they were older only to find they were infertile and parts of their anatomy had remained child sized and would never be normal again. Actually encouraged and egged on by the trans brigade. To then have their lives ruined.

My 72 year old DH being asked before getting an MRI on his knee if he could possibly be pregnant. The radiographer went pink and sort of mumbled; 'So sorry, but I have to ask this'.

The Green Party allowed him to attend events as a Green Party worker while awaiting trial for the rape and torture of the ten year old girl. Aimee then posted a picture of himself at the bottom of the stairs to the loft where the rape and torture took place in their tiny two up two down house. The Green Party knew and did an awful announcement when called out on it. They quickly took it down when people pointed out they had not said anything supportive of the victim. I could never vote Green as a result of this and the whole scandal was extremely shocking and upsetting.

One of the stories that stuck in my head were the threads here discussing the transidentified male SH (still not sure if I am allowed to write out his name) / golf clubs / doctor AH hounding of Caroline Farrow. The way they were laughing and gloating about their bullying behaviour, like nasty little school boys. It was so unpleasant and such a glaring example of why women wouldn’t want to share any kind of single-sex space with SH. And then SH joined the thread! Blimey. It was shocking watching it play out in real time.

Mine is a personal one, going to a menapause webinar for HR people and most of the questions from the attendees being about how to include trans women.

Personally being kicked off twitter for stating moj figures about the occurrence if sex crimes in the trans identifying male prison population. Being on twitter with about 400 women and glinner and everyone absolutely hating us for saying tw were men. Having to meet women locally and form a group to campaign but having to be vetted in secret due to the fear of being outed as gc and losing jobs and friends or being targeted. Being at a meeting with 100 middle aged women to discuss changes to the gra and having bag searches, security and the police there as there was a bomb threat. Fun times…

Those unusual pronouns- like ze-zir.

Imagine trying to talk about a group of people who have pronouns not matching their sex - or they /them or ze/zir - how difficult it would be to carefully say the correct thing and to remember each person’s pronoun.

And then because said film could no longer be given oscars another mediocre film that also featured the disempowerment of women and entrenched misogyny was somehow seen as 'thank god we have an alternative crap and misogynistic film ' and given all the other awards which was then lauded as a landmark somehow for women.

You've made me think of Dylan's friend - the dead eyed, genuinely sinister one but I've forgotten his name.
