There have been so many issues over the last few years with trans rights clashing with women’s rights… its been fascinating, in a bad way.

some that come to mind:

A man photographed breastfeeding a newborn in a bus - and being used by the BBC to represent mothers for a story

A man running a rape crisis centre while saying he’s a women and telling women users of the service to ‘reframe their trauma’

a man saying he’s a women and being appointed to head a charity for endometriosis.

Male police officers who say they are women being allowed to strip search women.

What else…

Seeing and hearing the words "Her penis". Said by various academics, lawyers, police, journalists, with absolute conviction. Meanwhile I'm inwardly screaming what the fuck are you idiots saying!

The bullying of Rachel Rooney by the whole industry for writing 'My body is me!'.

Still feel sick when I think about it, the hounding of one of the most gentle people I've ever met.

When Rachel reads 'My body is me!' for the CBBC bedtime story is when I believe the capture is over here.

That thread was the best Christmas present.

Worse than that for me was the footage from the spa incident in LA, where passers-by were coming out with the ‘her penis’ line during the altercation. It’s one thing officials overthinking themselves into nonsense, but really chilling to see normal members of the public acting like drones impromptu.

(uttered at some insane American demonstration outside the Netflix office, iirc) still makes me laugh. I often have the urge to say it in conversation but I don't know anyone in real life who would get the allusion.
