There have been so many issues over the last few years with trans rights clashing with women’s rights… its been fascinating, in a bad way.

some that come to mind:

A man photographed breastfeeding a newborn in a bus - and being used by the BBC to represent mothers for a story

A man running a rape crisis centre while saying he’s a women and telling women users of the service to ‘reframe their trauma’

a man saying he’s a women and being appointed to head a charity for endometriosis.

Male police officers who say they are women being allowed to strip search women.

What else…

Going to a gig at a university to discover the toilets labelled as "with urinals" and "with cubicles".

Seeing posters at local hospital saying they have to ask everyone from the age of 12 if there is a possibility they might be pregnant.

Gender identity questions fucking everywhere and very few male/female options.

This aged well.

Thanks Supreme Court.

Wi Spa! And the guardian article about it!

Official Guidance for courts and the media etc on how to refer to trans people.

Athletes like CeCe Telfar - and others recently thrashing women in events like the high jump and the long jump.

It's all quite unbelievable looking back isn't it?

If someone were to make a film or write a blockbuster novel including the above it would be like science fiction. Unreal, and I just hope it really is over now.

Any bets on that?

From my own personal experience:
Arranging a residential visit for teenagers. Parents of a 16 year old girl asked if she could share a room with boys that she was good friends with, as she had experienced bullying from the other girls on the trip. No spare single rooms available and all parents agreed (all friends and regularly had sleep-overs together at home). Organisation head office said this was absolutely definitely not acceptable even with parental permission from all. On the SAME TRIP, advice from the same person at head office was that a ftm trans young person (with no surgery etc, just change of names/pronouns) must be accommodated with the boys.

Have you shared that story with a journalist?

Oh yes mermaids - susie green a former IT officer who somehow managed to persuade multiple organisations, politicians, clinicians and funders that she, a woman who transed her almost certainly gay son because of her homophobic husband, was the fount of all knowledge on so called “trans children”

I hope her son sues her and goes full NC.

Rosie Kay. The poor woman was hounded out of her own dance company. Bloody awful.

Was that the same guy who was filmed by the BBC in his house doing dishes and laundry. Clearly to subliminally reassure us he must definitely be a woman?

Yes, and pretty sure he was presented as a "housewife" on a piece about the cost of living. He was shown washing up a breast pump.

Jo Phoenix being hounded out of the open university

An older woman punched in the face at Speaker’s Corner by TRAs

I know her really well. It was really horrendous. They only caught one of them. And she was forced to wrong sex him in court and lost compensation as a result.

Also, back in 2016, me and a friend buying a ticket to an early Venice Allen event in Glasgow. Being emailed by Venice a few hours before the event began to say that the TRAs had got the event cancelled and to meet her in Royal Exchange Square where she would lead us to the new venue. Walking through Glasgow to the new venue of the Central Hotel with her being trailed by TRAs. The event starting and an aggressive, loud TRA standing up to shout down the speaker - years later we found out this was the fragrant Beth, beloved of the Scottish Lib Dems.

Another TRA who attended posting later on social media that we were a bunch of ‘rape obsessed TERFs’

Attending another event in Edinburgh where we had to run the gauntlet of TRAs banging pots and pans so loudly, which they continued to bang throughout the event so they almost drowned out the words of a rape victim.

The fact that The Family Sex Show almost happened (a live theatre show exploring gender and sexuality, which would apparently have been equally appropriate for adults and 5yo children, and which would have included full nudity on stage), and when it didn't happen, the Guardian ran a piece about how frightening cancel culture is.

OvaHere · 20/04/2025 18:21

Shout out to South Park who never betrayed their roots of taking the piss out of everything. No exceptions.

A man who fantasised about simulating pregnancy, then joined a pregnancy group, with the plan to fake a stillbirth at the end. A woman who had actually had a stillbirth objected that his LARP was awful and offensive and was kicked out of the female support group herself because women wanted to coddle the terrible man instead.

The male teacher in Canada with the absolutely enormous fake breasts!

Z cup fake boobies with equally large erect nipples in tight jumpers for full effect.

The school considered him untouchable.

I wouldn't get near enough to touch either, tbf!

Appalonia · 20/04/2025 18:22

I don't think I can bear to revisit them right now tbh. It still feels too raw, all the gaslighting and lack of regard for women and girls. At times, reading about it all over the years made me utterly depressed, hopeless and angry. The reaction to the utterly sane and sensible judgement by the SC from much of the media and the TRAs indicates that there's going to be a massive pushback ( a bit like when a woman is leaving an abusive relationship is the most dangerous time ), so although I was elated and crying with joy and relief on Weds, I feel a bit more despondent now.

But, that's just me. I want a bloody reckoning from all those pp and institutions that didn't listen to our genuine concerns and spouted utter nonsense for YEARS. I want an apology and I want change. We came SO CLOSE to losing our rights as women, I find it chilling and it's not over yet.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, enjoy the ridiculousness of it all, I'm just not quite there yet...x

Dawn Butler threatening us with the Rozzers.

JulesJules · 20/04/2025 18:28

The male boxers in the Olympics.

The BBC and their obsession with drag queens.

Tax payer funded organisations and services total capitulation to this idiocy, then wasting our money on court cases with no accountability, while we also have to crowd fund for the women fighting them.

And most recently, TRAs pissing on the Millicent Fawcett statue and displaying signs calling for women to be burnt alive and/or hanged while the police do nothing

That would be the cancel culture that they otherwise don’t think exists?

Oh yes that was terrifying...... ly ridiculous.

Alot of it has been utter surreal kafkaesque shit. But I have had a very great many laughs along the way on Mn with the intelligent, feisty, well-informed and educated women of MN just taking the piss out of it all.

I took annual leave in order to watch alot of the Allison Bailey tribunal in real time. I was in a law firm back then. Another (male) colleague took leave at the same time to watch the Rooney/Vardy trial. We would swap notes on whatsapp.

Ben Cooper's support wren was a highlight.

Plus the haikus.
