Memories of the last few years of madness

There have been so many issues over the last few years with trans rights clashing with women’s rights… its been fascinating, in a bad way.

some that come to mind:

A man photographed breastfeeding a newborn in a bus - and being used by the BBC to represent mothers for a story

A man running a rape crisis centre while saying he’s a women and telling women users of the service to ‘reframe their trauma’

a man saying he’s a women and being appointed to head a charity for endometriosis.

Male police officers who say they are women being allowed to strip search women.

What else…

Also, David Lammy claiming he couldn't possibly be sexist because he's black.

Obviously he's never heard of Black Patriarchy.

All the authors who write books for children with titles like:

My Dad is my Mum
Mummy, what’s my gender?
The Usborne lift-the-flap guide to Pride!
Topsy and Tim visit the library for the Drag Queen show

Or anime-style didactics aimed at YA about

Chloe looked in horror in the mirror at her growing breasts. She googled puberty blockers and howled in rage at her Mum saying no! If only she’d been allowed to become the boy she knew she really was [subtext: parents who parent are the enemy]

So many of them everywhere once you start looking 🤮

Chloe looked in horror in the mirror at her growing breasts.

In fairness, I feel like that about my tits and I'm 40 plus spare change. Hating these fatty lumps that turn up unbidden and are catnip to pervy men is probably the standard autistic female experience.

Talking of dogs, Stonewall’s head of inclusion at the Allison Bailey tribunal who could only give evidence with his mum and emotional support dog in attendance.

AllIwantedwasanMOT · 21/04/2025 21:16

Thank you everyone for this. I have just emailed Milli Hill to express my support to her. I read her book when I was pregnant and found it really good, and had no idea how she'd been treated for her GC views.

When Millwall cancelled a ‘Let Women Speak’ event (or maybe Women’s Place) because of security issues.

It was Venice Allan’s “We Need to Talk”, it was held at the HoP in the end thanks to the intervention of MP David TC Davies. He was later investigated after TRA complaints by Parliamentary Standards or similar but I think they found no case to answer.

Mumsnet was dubbed “More Balls Than Millwall” after that because they were prepared to face down TRAs, unlike the football club with a reputation for being tough.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/04/2025 21:42

And talking of Houses of Parliament events, there was the breathtakingly ironic, clanging and tone deaf launch of the Kinder, Gentler Politics report there featuring as panel member none other than Lily Madigan, who was not happy to see our group, to put it mildly!

TheLongRider · 21/04/2025 22:05

Ooh thank you! I remember reading at the time and thinking it was an excellent description of the utter madness and disregard for women. I wonder if she's done an updated version. I know we're not out of the woods yet but it feels as if some sanity is returning.

I wonder what happened to Venice Allan, Helen Steel (of McLibel fame), and Lisa Muggeridge? They were so key to waking me up back in 2018.

Obvs, don't actually tell me because they might be staying quiet for their safety. But they went quiet and I hope they are all OK.

My sister was at school with Helen, my Mum taught her at primary school and her Dad was my maths teacher!

Clare Dimyon. I came to this thread to post about her.

She has an MBE for LGB rights campaigning, is a rape survivor who asked for a female breast screening professional.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust published its new trans policy – and included the letter as an example of “highly discriminatory” correspondence from patients which should be referred to the hospital’s equality diversity and inclusion team.

Edited

OMG that's so much more awful than I expected - the trust's response is horrific.
(in response to a rape survivor requesting a female to do her mammogram)
https://archive.ph/ygX73

On top of including her letter in their Trans Toolkit as an example of highly discriminatory transphobia, in their "apology" they say:

“However, it is not possible to guarantee to any patient that they will only be treated by a clinician assigned to a specific gender at birth and, as an organisation that prides itself on our commitment to diversity and inclusion, nor would we wish to do so.
It is also important that patients see the clinician most skilled to deal with their medical concern. We recognise our employees by the gender they identify as on a daily basis as it is essential that we respect the gender identity of all our staff".

RMW popping onto a support thread to chastise us all about bundles.

And them's comment, "I'll leave you all to your cauldrons."

Oh now this will be one for the history books, documentaries and films of the future. Says pretty much everything about the sheer arrogance, entitlement and stupidity (oh the irony of where this photo was taken) of gender wang.

twinklystar23 · 25/04/2025 07:27

Professor Winston (who engineeted the wirlds first tedt-tube baby) on question time stating something aling the lines of "I will likely receive a lot of hate (mail?) for this " before going on to say that people cant change sex, that EVERY cell of our bodies are part of our male or female DNA.

To be fair, the thread which came from that was very witty!

www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4967923-everyone-scarper-the-rozzers-are-coming

I missed that thread and I am only just learning I could have hidden out at Rocket Pandas place where I would have been kept company by an overly social donkey.

I'm not sure how long it will take me to recover from the disappointment.

ClareBDimyon · 02/08/2025 07:20

for human rights & responsibilities of 'lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender' people in fact. I am not against anyone but I am for myself and my own lesbian (& gay & bisexual) people. The BT got added, bisexuals were never excluded, transgender is a whole new value proposition but I was supportive of a transsexual* as early as 1980 (1st TV programme on the late Julia Grant) and a transman disclosed to me in 1991. Who has been supportive longer than I have? As I said in Brighton Crown Ct (24 July 2025).
The judge endorsed the decision of the trial that my actions were not in the least transphobic and the placing of the transphobic bigot before the crime horse...well she awarded costs AGAINST the police & CPS. 😎😎😎
£180 compo and not one but 2 days in court at the expense of the misogynist Brighton police & CPS? Wirth every single penny!

Toseland · 02/08/2025 08:08

Just to add Biden's White House lawn party, where an overexcited transactivist, Rose Montoya, exposed and played with his new boobs in front of everyone!

A few which I think didn’t get their due back in April:

  • Lesbian online magazine Autostraddle publishing a guide on how to fellate your partner (2018)
  • A British police officer telling Harry Miller that although Miller hadn’t committed a crime, “I need to check your thinking” because of a crude limerick on Twitter (2019)
  • Dawn Butler telling a TV interviewer “a child is born without [a] sex” (2020)

Or carefully worded articles about women’s health issues where there is no mention of women e.g ‘people’ experience menopause.

My work does this and it drives me totally mad. I will say something eventually. Sent out a request for people on maternity leave for a case study of their policies. The word women was omitted completely.

Also there's a menopause support group for all genders. Insane.

Hope I'm not crossposting (haven't read the full thread - saving it up to read properly when I'm not quite so busy!), have we had the delicate feminine beauty of the Piss Protest outside the EHRC yet? That act of compliant and sensitive grace got me over my silly Terf notions instantly, obviously - clearly the actions of a woman pushed to her limit by those nasty transphobes..

The Scottish Government appointing a man (Jason Grant) as their first Period Dignity Officer.

That was a really low point for me.

Edited

The appointment process was so dodgy, even aside from the inappropriateness of his sex.

"Our Freedom of Information (FOI) inquiries confirmed one of the four-person Period Dignity Working Group who made the controversial hire – understood to be Katie Baxter – headhunted the former tobacco salesman for numerous posts at the college."

https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/dundee/4631908/tayside-period-dignity-jason-grant-recap/

Three existing part time period officers who were pushed out of their jobs for this guy described how he was ushered into an internal post.

"We were all wondering who this guy was, he was in private meetings, next thing he is coming into the office to be involved in interview prep and endless coffees with Katie. Jason told us that he had been promised a new role. This was prior to the job advertisement and interview for the period dignity role. Meanwhile, my colleagues and I, who had been working for months on the period project, found it impossible to carry on working there as the environment was so toxic."

https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/scottish-news/male-period-tsar-pushed-out-27978908

I don't think any papers claimed he was having an affair with Katie Baxter but the repeated references to him being a "former personal trainer" seemed suggestive...but maybe she was just being stunning and brave in appointing a bloke.

GirlsInGreen · 02/08/2025 11:19

Lisa Nandy, Rebecca Long-Bailey, Angela Rayner, Dawn Butler signing the 12 point pledge card call8ng for expulsion of LP members with "transphobic views" & naming WPUK as "an exclusionary hate group".

Chilled to my bones.

We very nearly went full Tranada & I'm in awe of everywoman who raised a voice, stuck a sticker, got out on the street, had a conversation.

Quite tearful thinking of what we (women who said NO) have been through.
The day after Maya Forstaters first judgement, I watched my twitter count fall through the floor(I was/am lucky enough never to fear for my income/job) as women deleted profiles.

I sat & cried. I thought "we're fucked - we're fucked".
Looked at my then 13 year old girl & thought NO.
Phoned a terf friend, made plans, carried on.

But we came within inches.
