How to object to NHS Fife wanting to deny public access to Peggie tribunal

Pluvia · 12/04/2025 16:54

Word has filtered down to me that Edinburgh Employment Tribunal has received very few objections to NHS Fife's attempts to deny public access (in person or remote) to the second part of the hearing due in July. It may be that people have been confused about where to send objections.

Please, if you object to Fife NHS's attempt to have justice done behind closed doors, with no one of a GC persuasion permitted to attend, email
[email protected]
quoting case ref: 4104864/2024 - Peggie v Fife Health Board edited by MNHQ

and tell them why you think this needs to be heard in public, with ordinary members of the public allowed to watch remotely and in person.

This needs to be done in the next 48 hours or so. Decisions are swayed by complaints received. No complaints, the assumption is that no one cares.

Thanks, and please pass this information on.

This is the body of my email

I'm writing to you to support the need for this case to continue to be heard in Public.
I followed the initial proceedings via Tribunal Tweets and have booked the time off work to access the case remotely in July.
As the case progressed, I compared what was happening within the court to what was being reported by Journalists. Some were reporting reasonably accurately, however the BBC and other supposedly mainstream, respected!! media were omitting key parts of testimony leading to a disjointed and inaccurate account of what was happening. If the testimony was such that BBC couldn't push a pro Trans agenda, then they didn't report on that day's proceedings at all.
It is therefore imperative that open access to this case continues so that people can follow the case themselves and not rely on reporting from Journalists that have their own bias and personal agenda.

Sent Saturday and confirmation email back

You're right, got the automatic reply for the ET but not the EAT one - as you were folks and many apologies (Google is clearly a TA)

The eat version is the one given in the AI overview, which is incredibly unhelpful of it!!

@Igmum
The judge is deciding tomorrow (Tuesday) - so save yourself a stamp, but never too late to send an email.

Igmum · 14/04/2025 18:54

Have emailed both addresses 😃

AnotherVice · 14/04/2025 19:10

I emailed and got this reply:

'Good morning

The Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) is a department that deal with appeals against Judgment and decisions from the Employment Tribunal instigated by parties in the case .

The matter you refer to is not within the remit of the EAT to deal with .

Kind regards'

Projectme · 15/04/2025 09:54

I've tried the email in the OP but it just sits in my outbox as the email address isn't recognised? I've tried the other email address provided by another PP on page 5 of this thread and had the above reply?

fanOfBen · 15/04/2025 10:11

Somebody posted a mailto link (probably because the mumsnet interface tries to be clever, as I just experienced), and when I c&ped that into my mail client it mangled it so that the mail address had a / at the end of it, which is wrong. Might be worth just retyping [email protected] (or c&ping if I've managed to get that in here with no mangling!)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/04/2025 10:16

Yes it’s not at EAT stage. Yet!

Peregrina · 15/04/2025 10:17

[email protected]

that's what I put and I received an automated reply.

MarkWithaC · 15/04/2025 10:30

I emailed [email protected] and got 'Thank you for contacting the Employment Tribunal. Our opening hours are 8:30am – 5pm. Your e-mail has been safely received by this office. There is no need to call us for confirmation of receipt. We aim to respond to correspondence within 10 working days. If
your correspondence is in relation to a hearing that is due to take place within 10 working days, it will be given priority.'
and some more guff.
But I think this is the right address.

ScottishSheepie · 15/04/2025 10:57

Email sent.
Thanks for highlighting this.

NImumconfused · 15/04/2025 18:09

Just seen on the other thread that they received 634 emails!

Pluvia · 15/04/2025 19:37

Well done, everyone!

This was posted over on the other thread by @justabaker. Fingers crossed.

Good evening wonderful Mumsnetters. Thank you so much for writing to the Tribunal and for sharing some of your emails with us. We won't have a decision for a couple of weeks, but I'm confident we will prevail. Your support has been fantastic. From all of us all atTribunal Tweets
