How to object to NHS Fife wanting to deny public access to Peggie tribunal

Pluvia · 12/04/2025 16:54

Word has filtered down to me that Edinburgh Employment Tribunal has received very few objections to NHS Fife's attempts to deny public access (in person or remote) to the second part of the hearing due in July. It may be that people have been confused about where to send objections.

Please, if you object to Fife NHS's attempt to have justice done behind closed doors, with no one of a GC persuasion permitted to attend, email
[email protected]
quoting case ref: 4104864/2024 - Peggie v Fife Health Board edited by MNHQ

and tell them why you think this needs to be heard in public, with ordinary members of the public allowed to watch remotely and in person.

This needs to be done in the next 48 hours or so. Decisions are swayed by complaints received. No complaints, the assumption is that no one cares.

Thanks, and please pass this information on.

Done.

Thanks for spoonfeeding us on this one!

TartanMammy · 12/04/2025 18:17

I've sent an email.

Mailed.

Just to say explicitly for everyone: you can and, I think, should email even if you have no intention of attending yourself, if it's important to you that Tribunal Tweets or indeed other people should be able to attend so that the case can be discussed.

CriticalCondition · 12/04/2025 18:48

Email sent.

Pleasealexa · 12/04/2025 18:51

Email sent. Thank you for the prompt

CriticalCondition · 12/04/2025 18:55

I sent my email.starting 'Dear Clerks' but marked it FAO Judge Kemp along with the case details in the subject line and asked the clerks to draw it to his attention.
A great suggestion from someone on the Sandie Peggie thread!

Peregrina · 12/04/2025 19:57

Sent my email. I quoted the case number which was useful to know, but asked for my email to be drawn to the judge's attention.

So unlike in the Sandie Peggie case, the excuse, no one else has objected won't wash.

Peregrina · 12/04/2025 20:00

I have counted 23 emails sent on this thread and there will be others on the Sandie Peggie threads.

Best of all I think, is that they will be very individual emails making different points.

Mmmnotsure · 12/04/2025 20:10

@Pluvia
Thank you for the thread.

NHS Fife are trying to stop public access online, and also - separately - trying to stop Tribunal Tweets from covering the case (which would mean we would have no online record of what has been said).

If people are writing in, could you ask both for public access and for Tribunal Tweets to be allowed to cover - or send an email for each if you've already written?

I really want to watch online (Dr Upton is seared into my brain!). But it's also important to have a public record of the proceedings, for everyone who can't be available to watch it live, and for people to refer back to - sunlight and all that.

Swashbuckled · 12/04/2025 20:26

I have sent an email.
Thanks for the alert 😊.

Hoydenish · 12/04/2025 20:28

Thank you for the thread.

I have emailed.

Made the points that

  • Open justice must be seen to be open as well as actually be open
  • NHS Fife caused a delay in proceedings, by not producing docs that the judge ordered to be disclosed
  • TT are a source of info for those who cannot attend in person or online

It was a bit jumbly and from-the-heart, hopefully helpful.

ApocalypseNowt · 12/04/2025 20:38

Done.

IslandsAround · 12/04/2025 20:42

Done - thank you for raising it.

Skyellaskerry · 12/04/2025 20:54

Thank you for highlighting. Must say I am confused how they can try again to keep this behind closed doors and assumed that the ruling from last time would have carried over, as it’s the same case. More waste of money. I will be emailing along with you all.

PachacutisBadAuntie · 12/04/2025 21:04

Done. Mentioned 'restricting access would make a mockery of the constitutional principle of open justice' and suggested broadcast on YouTube as with Horizon enquiry.

Hi OP have you got the case reference correct? Somebody posted a few days ago about this and the case reference no is -

4104864/2024**

emmsie39 · 12/04/2025 21:08

Just logged in to say I have sent an email.

Crap, well spotted. Don't think I'll resend it though, I'm sure they'll know what I mean and two emails saying the same thing might piss them off more than a slightly wrong case number.

Mmmnotsure · 12/04/2025 21:19

@Pluvia
Do you want to ask MNHQ if they can change the case ref in your OP to
4104864/2024?
(In your OP the 1 and 0 are the wrong way round)

SigourneyHoward · 12/04/2025 21:24

Done - had missed this blatant action so thank you for posting tonight to make it on to active!

lcakethereforeIam · 12/04/2025 21:26

Sent an email. Kept it short.

Peregrina · 12/04/2025 21:32

I won't resend either. They will spot that it's a transposition and will know which case it is anyway.
