Discriminating against women is so entirely normal and justifiable and downright good to do that mostly it just passes everyone by without blinking.
They are the one group you can treat how you like. They don't get listened to by the media, police or courts, there's a 1% successful prosecution for raping one, and men are the most important and focused on clients in all women's spaces. Media will hide cases and avoid reporting fairly or reporting at all on cases affecting them if they might affect men negatively. You can sack and abuse one for thinking she should have equality of consideration and rights including to say no to the man who wants to compel her to undress with him to meet his (varied and unspecified) needs. The homosexual ones are supposed to provide free sex work uncomplainingly to straight men rather than jar the man's self expression and inner self, and not look for - well. Anything like enjoyment in sex, or equality, she's just there for him and she can 'learn to cope'. And this is apparently.... ok.
What's the true meaning of 'oppressed group' again?
They don't have equality before the law because crimes against them don't really matter, they're not fully human like real people and it's ok for real people to ill treat them. In fact its understandable and normal to do so.
They don't have equality of representation or a voice in the mainstream media (that is slowly SLOWLY starting to shift based on a few cracking journalists pushing hard for years)
They can be treated in ways that are against the law and no one minds. (Except when they crowd fund from £5 from lots of women to stand in court and FORCE government and civil servants to follow their own laws) You can shout in the streets about how they should die and it's basically ok, but heaven help them if they step out of line, the police and government are right on them.
They are required to provide labour for more privileged groups. Like warping their language, performing lies and taking their clothes off for them.
Women are actually oppressed.
The real stuff. Not the fun stuff. And yes, I share your disbelief that we have such a massive, international issue with sexism that the above feels normal and right to so many.
