My point is that no, this isn't what is happening. And creating safe spaces needs more than just banning men from toilets. We need to look at what is needed. All this is leading to it women being abused for looking like they might possibly be a trans woman. It isn't actually protecting women at all. Men won't attack in a toilet with others around. Men will wait till there is a woman alone. Banning men from toilets won't actually change this. Work is needed on making spaces truly safe.

@justteanbiscuits I would really like to look at what is needed too. However, men lead girls into public toilets. Men attack women in nightclub toilets when there’s lots of others around. Children get raped in schools every school day (BBC investigation and an FOI from Essex). I think you need to rephrase:

@justteanbiscuits I was sexually assaulted by a transwoman in a ladies when I was seventeen, as I mentioned upthread. That's the only sexual assault I've ever been subjected to in a toilet.

Other forms of SA and assault are of course problematic - the reason opening what are ostensibly women's single sex spaces up to men who say they wish to use them is particularly dangerous is surely obvious? It gives predators cover.

Campaigning for other ways to address MVAWG and SA is great, though. This is especially a good board to start threads on ways to do this - letter writing campaigns, women's meetings, charities to support, etc.

I can assure you I have never said that. Just like all the other things I've been accused of saying in this thread. Do I know trans people? Yes. It's over 30 years since I first knew and worked with trans people. That doesn't make my husband trans.
