I can arrange to meet up with you somewhere to prove I'm not Neil Gaiman haha. Seriously, what level of discourse on mumsnet that permits this level of conspiracy theories. 😳 not a serious forum.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 28/01/2025 22:10

It’s a reaction to the ludicrous defences you are making on here @YourAmplePlumPoster. Given what he already admitted it is hard to understand anyone defending his so vehemently unless they are in his employment.

I don’t want meet you, thanks all the same Neil. I’d worry bout my arsehole integrity.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 28/01/2025 22:11

Seriously weird. I always identified with feminists but they seem to have gone weird on this site. Accusing people of being someone else. What is wrong with you?

You don't see anything weird with spamming up a feminist board, in defence of a despicable scumbag and insisting the women he abused were to blame?

Because NGL it seems pretty weird to me.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 28/01/2025 22:14

Identify with feminists after all that she was asking for it bullshit?! 😂😂😂😂

YourAmplePlumPoster · 28/01/2025 22:15

Poor old mumsnet, taken over by conspiracy theorists.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 28/01/2025 22:15

he probably loves women

YourAmplePlumPoster · 28/01/2025 22:17

If you read my posts, I didn't defend him. Just said I want a court case to prove the allegations.

No thanks mate, I wouldn't like to be alone with anyone who thinks what Neil Gaiman has done is ok

YourAmplePlumPoster · 28/01/2025 22:21

Oh, so now I'm not a woman but a man and I'm also Neil Gaiman. How funny are the conspiracy theorists on mumsnet. You make this site look ridiculous. Anyway, nighty night, ladies.

Who said that? I call my MIL mate and vice versa.

Perhaps I'm just too Northern and/or common for you?

Babadookinthewardrobe · 28/01/2025 22:25

Awww so sorry we couldn’t drum up the necessary sympathy for the poor misunderstood lamb and his harmless little kinks that must be catered to by staff. Maybe try Reddit.

Just leaving this here from the end of the Marina Hyde article in the guardian:

“You’ll note that people like Neil even react to sexual abuse allegations in a superior way. Honestly, I’m feeling somewhat lesser, here. I’ve literally never given $60,000 or $275,000 to people I haven’t sexually assaulted so that I can – hang on, let me get my reading glasses on – help them get therapy/“make up some of the damage”. Having said that, I have always paid my nanny via PAYE, and have never attempted to have sex with her. I recommend it.”

Beowulfa · 28/01/2025 15:26

I browse a lot in charity shops and have never noticed before how often Gaiman gets his name on a front cover with a recommendation.

I've come to notice this too.

Is this the money he promised one young lady that he had absolutely consensual sex with that he would give to a rape crisis charity?

Or is the therapy money for a different person who was in no way damaged by his actions?

teawamutu · 28/01/2025 22:51

Both. Although I don't believe he ever actually did donate to the charity.

Not only an abusive deviant scumbag, but a tightwad as well.

Of course. Disgusting.

On an unrelated note, people don't tend to donate to causes that act against their interests.

SionnachRuadh · 28/01/2025 19:23

Lots of young women on BookTube only seemed to notice it when the Vulture article dropped. I assume they were waiting for an acceptable source to cover it.

Now, of course, they're all over it, which should worry NG as that's very much his crowd.

I think it's difficult for people to know whether less mainstream sites are any good or not. They figure that if a story has merit, it will probably make it's way to mainstream media, so they don't bother trying to keep up.

I find I do that even though there is some non-mainstream stuff I trust. But there is just too much to keep track of for me.

hihelenhi · 28/01/2025 22:59

YourAmplePlumPoster · 28/01/2025 21:44

You think I'm Neil Gaiman? 🤔 lol 😆 😂 I have now listened to the entire podcast. About half a dozen women who want revenge on him for dumping them. One even paid 500 dollars to follow him onto a plane and got chucked off after he'd dumped her. He's not a nice guy. It's not enough for a prison sentence. Ladies, you all agree that women are capable of running countries and sitting at the top table but on the other hand you think women are poor, feeble, wimpy creatures who can't stand up for themselves and don't regard themselves as adults at the age of 23. Make your minds up.

No. He's a scumbag, an abuser, a possible rapist and a sleaze but his writing's not bad and is certainly not as charmless and overt in its misogyny as this comment is. Actually being able to fool people is how he's got away with it for so long. I don't agree with other posters - I don't think you're anything to do with him. More interested in having a pop at the "ladies" for some strange reason.

This was spot on.

The $275000 was actually to the artist who lived on his property. He asked her to leave when she rejected his sexual advances once and for all. He used her need for a home to illicit sex.

I initially was of the camp of ‘oh he’s just an arsehole’ when it all came out in the media. I’ve been a massive fan for 20 years. Read all the Sandman multiple times etc.

But listening to the podcasts a couple of times it really became clear to me that this was a pattern of behaviour which involved targeting a particular type of person and using his position to stomp over boundaries. The Vulture article to me sealed the deal for me that he is a rapist and is actually a really disturbed human being who should be exposed so that he doesn’t continue to have access to people and to protect his child.

AP is complicit in my opinion.
