A continuation of threads 1 & 2 now that things have moved on considerably, what with further episodes on the Tortoise podcast and the Vulture Article which blew the story out further into the mainstream

Thanks @hihelenhi for the new thread

Thank you for the new thread.

DrMaxwell · 28/01/2025 14:38

Thank you

Beowulfa · 28/01/2025 15:26

I browse a lot in charity shops and have never noticed before how often Gaiman gets his name on a front cover with a recommendation.

JazzyJelly · 28/01/2025 15:47

Thanks for starting a new thread!

INeedAPensieve · 28/01/2025 16:34

Thank you for the new thread! Saving to see more updates. Still shocked it took so long since the original podcast before anything happened in the news.

Dervel · 28/01/2025 17:08

Thanks.

Same here. No one on this thread has said that Gaiman should be jailed or given a criminal record without due process. This is a man with enough money that he need never work again. The principal "harm" to him through cancelling is no more easy access to vulnerable women.

Yes, there appears to be a bit of retconning going on. It's as if the Vulture article is counted as "the first time" this was reported (so it only counted when it was by "the right sort of people" I think - even though I do think great additional work was done in the latest report too).

But we had over six months where it HAD been reported and was largely being handwaved away and not mentioned in the mainstream liberal media at all.

I genuinely saw people ignoring the initial allegations as they were reported on a 'TERF podcast'.

Thus revealing exactly how much of a fuck they really give about women. Allegations need not be considered or believed unless an approved source repeats them.

SionnachRuadh · 28/01/2025 19:23

Lots of young women on BookTube only seemed to notice it when the Vulture article dropped. I assume they were waiting for an acceptable source to cover it.

Now, of course, they're all over it, which should worry NG as that's very much his crowd.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 28/01/2025 19:28

I've now listened to the entire podcast. He's a sleaze and a prick but if men were to be jailed for that, there wouldn't be enough jails for everyone. I'd also like Rachel Johnson to do a number on her own sleazy prick of a brother, Boris, who exhibits all the same traits as NG. NG is a beta male who got famous and attracts females and loves the attention. A bit like ugly looking rock stars who shagged young female fans back in the day. Pretty straightforward really.

Yes, definitely.

He's done.

And we will see what the police investigation reveals about the alleged rape(s). Consent doesn't seem to be something he was interested in several of the reported cases (unless he could coerce it, of course - but it's not just those situations in the frame.)

It sounds like an active lack of consent is what interested him.

Indeed.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 28/01/2025 20:41

Thanks for the new thread. Following with satisfaction as the coercive creep gets what he deserves. I think he may have been commenting as Plum on the previous thread, such desperation to excuse the inexcusable. Bad luck Neil, game over now. About time too.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 28/01/2025 21:44

You think I'm Neil Gaiman? 🤔 lol 😆 😂 I have now listened to the entire podcast. About half a dozen women who want revenge on him for dumping them. One even paid 500 dollars to follow him onto a plane and got chucked off after he'd dumped her. He's not a nice guy. It's not enough for a prison sentence. Ladies, you all agree that women are capable of running countries and sitting at the top table but on the other hand you think women are poor, feeble, wimpy creatures who can't stand up for themselves and don't regard themselves as adults at the age of 23. Make your minds up.

Women can't run countries if women can be rape victims? What?

Honestly if this poster isn't Neil Gaiman, they need paying more. Surely a soul is worth at least 30 pieces of silver?

Despicable as he is, he's better with words than that.

Pretty sure this one's just one of those empathy-deficient types who think the right kinds of women never get abused.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 28/01/2025 22:04

Funny isn’t it. He maintained his silence
for months in the desperate hope his gross conduct somehow remained below the radar. Now he is losing friends and contracts hand over fist, up pops a poster insisting the women asked for it, were super happy with painful anal from
a stranger and he cannot be criticised for what he has admitted without a full trial.

Whatever Neil / Neil’s PR firm / Neil’s super fan…. his career lies in ruins as a result of the behaviour that he has admitted which is completely unacceptable. I would be escorted
from the office and summarily dismissed for the same - rightly so.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke.

I am taking a bit of comfort in that fact that even though it took so long, the story just would not go away - as I'm sure he was hoping it would.

I suspect the Vulture article was many months in the making because it's so densely reported, and probably had a few weeks of intense lawyer scrutiny before it was published as well.
