Well this will add to the confusion.

Have just heard him use the word gender, even though earlier news reports had said he would say only 2 sexes.

Trump to sign order proclaiming there are only two sexes

Donald Trump's government is set to recognise only two genders, male and female. The move will come as part of a swathe of executive orders the incoming president will sign on his first day back in the White House. It is one of two branded as "common...

thinks there’s a whole until we reach even 1 pct of US politicians being transgender. But yes you found one. And one in the UK. An epidemic of transgender influence, clearly

People have mentioned more than one in the US.

Levine is a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine, and previously served as the Pennsylvania physician general from 2015 to 2017 and as secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health from 2017 to 2021.[3]Levine is one of only a few openlytransgender government officials in the United States,[4] and is the first to hold an office that requires Senate confirmation.[5][6]On 19 October 2021, Levine became the first openly transgender four-star officer in the nation's eight uniformed services.[7]

Sam Brinton is American. The thing they both have in common is that they are male people. Rachel Levine had a lot of power and influence when it came to pushing the transitioning of children and trying to extend the practice.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/01/2025 13:46

Why did you ignore suitcase stealer Sam Brinton @leftorrightnow ?

And Levine was responsible for policy around "gender affirming care" for minors so pretty influential.

The right is given to them by legislation in some countries. It was part of the legislation in some states previously.

congratulations you speak French

Can you outline the states whose current laws protect transgender rights and how the EO affects them? Maybe also how you think it affects Title vii

LOL. You were totally wrong, don't you. Don't be a bad loser, it's ok to get things wrong sometimes

I think there's probably an even longer way to go before we reach the point where 51% of politicians are female

lechiffre55 · 21/01/2025 13:49

When people are listing trans males in the roles you say they don't exist in, and yet you ignore them, is that the terrible denying of trans existence that you speak of?

Signalbox · 21/01/2025 13:50

This is pretty TERFy stuff. Trump may not care about women but someone within his administration appears to care quite a lot. If the Republicans are only doing this for the votes perhaps the Democrats should take on board that this is a vote winner and do likewise.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/01/2025 13:50

I know @lechiffre55 how terrible for them to be disrespected in that way.

Datun · 21/01/2025 13:52

I mean leftorrightnow, it looks to me like you agree with everyone here about how women should have their own sex segregated spaces and services.

Is that correct?

Are we going to find that this all comes down to toilets?

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 21/01/2025 13:53

Is there a reason they can't legislate for biological women only in women's spaces and still let trans women exist?

Why would adults who have transitioned or are choosing to transition not have access to hormone treatment?

Why can't they have unisex spaces as well?

Why do people insist on calling trans women, men? Why can't they be called trans women?

I get a little confused about what people actually would like the outcome to be?

For those who have already transitioned what does this mean exactly?

What would make women fighting on behalf of this executive order feel good?

Is it just protecting women's spaces, or do women need the eradication of trans people to feel protected?

spannasaurus · 21/01/2025 13:54

I have a question for leftorrightnow.

If a democrat had issued the same EO would you be objecting to it?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/01/2025 13:55

Ask your trans friends if that's acceptable to them then, then float the idea. Good luck.

MalagaNights · 21/01/2025 13:55

When I see signs that removal of legitimate protections of trans people is approaching, I expect to speak up in protection of them.
What would a removal of legitimate protections be* *@RapidOnsetGenderCritic?
Genuine question.

If we presume they are not going to be rounded up into camps by Elon Musk doing Nazi salutes...
Would it be sex based dress codes at work? Refusal to serve Trans people (similar cases to the gay cake I presume? Refusal to employ a trans person?

I think they are much more complex issues than they first appear. There was much debate and disagreement on here, and in the GC world ,about men wearing dresses to work depending whether they are AGP or not and how enforceable that is. Even JKR's 'wear what you want' isn't as straightforward as it first seemed when we all agreed with it.

There are likely to be some high profile court cases to work out the constitutional rights.

Is 1 pct of politicians in the US trans? Or are a few politicians trans? Just for the record I think it’s great down transpeople survive in politics it isn’t easy for them, even harder than for women

so yea there are a few very few so Jo I want totally wrong

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/01/2025 13:56

Why do people insist on calling trans women, men? Why can't they be called trans women?

Because it isn't a thing in my eyes. They are just a particular type of man, and I don't like the obfuscation or the insistence that I tiptoe around their feelings. They're not tiptoeing around mine.

Of course I've discussed this with trans people. Lol

There have been trans women who have supported this as well.

Not all trans people have the same opinion. It's like anything you hear the most extreme voices in the media.

I'm very open with my opinion.

You really think that Levine faced more obstacles than̈ a woman in his position would have?

MalagaNights · 21/01/2025 13:58

They are doing exactly this. Men who identify as trans women still exist you'll be relieved to know. It's just they now can't go into women's spaces.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/01/2025 13:58

Glad to hear it 👍🏻 pop along to Reddit and convince r/MTF then.

MarieDeGournay · 21/01/2025 13:58

This is a report drawn up by an organisation that does not distinguish between LGB and TQ+ communities. Their stats and conclusions are muddled and not very helpful, because they mix together attacks on lesbian and gay people with attacks on transgender people, although these are two different groups with different identities. Put most simply, LGB identity is around sexual orientation, TQ+ is about gender identity, and these are not the same thing.
That's why it is so important to separate the LGB from the TQ+ in collecting data, compiling statistics etc - it makes no sense to group together disparate groups.

However, the report does start off by making a statement about the scale of the worst possible form of persecution - death - suffered by, specifically, the transgender population of the USA:
Since the day after the last Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20, 2023, at least 36 transgender and gender-expansive people have been killed in the U.S.

36 tragedies for the families and friends of the victims, whether or not they were killed because they were trans, or for any other reason, RIP to each and every one.

But 36? In a population of 340 million? 'One of the most persecuted groups in society'?

MalagaNights · 21/01/2025 13:59

Why do people insist on calling trans women, men? Why can't they be called trans women?

Because we are free to use whatever language we chose to describe the world. as we see it.
They can call themselves trans women.
We can call them men.

Everyone has the same rights to free speech.
