I'm going to my nearest march tomorrow.

I'm meeting up with some fellow terfs but after everything that's happened today, I'm planning on mingling with ordinary women who don't have a clue what's going on, asking them why they're marching and then asking them - in my best shocked, naive voice - if they have heard about the violent man who had been invited to speak at the London march.

I should be able to peak a few women.

This is outstanding infiltration @cariadlet how did it go? I see you as the Scarlet Pimperterf rescuing fine women from the throes of Ideological Terror

The march was an embarrassment - smaller than I'd expected and it felt like a SWP march.
But I walked in the middle with a few fellow Terfs and we had our Suffragette flags. We were glad that we did it.
There's a few photos and videos on Twitter and Facebook.

There's also some excellent videos of Manchester Terfs singing and waving their flags.

Video of Manchester Terfs here.

😍😍

Beautiful singing, well done those wims.

Thank you. Maybe next time I'll be brave enough (and not working) and be able to join them

Igmum · 20/01/2025 11:03

Well done Manchester terfs (though slightly confusing- presumably automatically generated captions). And yes I need to get out and support a march. Is there one for actual women by actual women?

NoBinturongsHereMate · 20/01/2025 11:12

I think Million Women Rise (March) is both by and for women.

Million women march is strictly biological women and their children marching for the rights of children and against the rape gangs and government cover ups.

But not for women. And there are rumours that it's Reform Party backed (I've not been able to confirm this, but their FB page follows Lee Anderson).

But better alternative than the WRM. I would much prefer to march for my little girl and against the rape gangs than what the WRM had to offer.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 20/01/2025 11:30

Addendum to above post - I've had a look at the FB page and it does state several times that it's apolitical. So the Reform rumour may well be only a rumour.

Yeah I don't think they are aligning themselves with any political party.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 20/01/2025 11:45

It's very much the type of bandwaggon some politicians will jump on, though. So they need to watch for being co-opted.

A march for children's rights and specifically against the sexual abuse of children is an excellent idea. But it's not a march for and about women.

In the interests of clarity it should be renamed. Always putting the rights of some other group before our own rights hasn't done us any good historically.

So far there's a march which was about lots of things, from Palestine to trans, and a march that will be about children. Both claiming to be about women.

A woman's place is...? ...on her own march, solely focused on our own rights, not somebody else's. It's OK to look out just for ourselves sometimes, we don't always have to be marching for other people.

Snowypeaks · 20/01/2025 11:56

Great post, Marie
Even feminism itself - to some people -has come to mean "Women against all bad stuff - except for sexism and misogyny (unless male people claim victimhood).

Amazing post but can't we argue that the march is for young women? It is young women who were and unfortunately still are getting abused and raped by these gangs?

You can’t bow to the demands of dangerous men like Baker, while respecting the needs of women who have been victims of male violence. You can’t claim that sex work is work, while decrying objectification of women’s bodies. And you can’t whinge about boys’ clubs when you are a member of a self-serving elite girls’ club.

Women’s March madness | Josephine Bartosch | The Critic Magazine

This Saturday, barrister Dr Charlotte Proudman (she/her) found a window in her schedule of self-promotion to address the crowd at the London Women’s March. It was one of several organised in the UK…

It's very much the type of bandwaggon some politicians will jump on, though. So they need to watch for being co-opted.

They've already had some publicity on GB News etc. I think it's fair to say they are not a left wing feminist (or faux-feminist as we've seen on the other march) group, but the organisers don't want any men involved at all because they know it would end up as a race based right/left shitshow and I genuinely think they do want to keep politics out of it as far as possible.

As I said to another poster they are going to mainly be working class women marching and organising. The type of women who often speak at LWS and don't traditionally form part of organised activism. The lead organiser is someone I have followed for a long time on social media, although I don't agree with her on everything. I believe she absolutely cares about safeguarding children and women's sex based rights.

I think they can call the march what they want to. If it's not your cup of tea, you don't have to support it.

I think the 'no men' rule is a good idea for that - keeps Robinson et al out so does reduce the odds of co-option.

Yes I’d agree with this. You can say children but it’s not children in general the grooming gangs went after. This is marching for women and girls and those are totally joint goals in my mind.
