Me too. Thank you @TheSandgroper

💃💃
This is Moira Deeming.
And also my placemark.

borntobequiet · 13/12/2024 07:16

Still not being reported on the BBC, as far as I can make out. And they have a whole Australia section. There’s a “Raygun” story that’s been hanging around for ages, though, rubbish fake street dance clearly considered more important than women’s right to speak.

AlisonDonut · 13/12/2024 07:26

Clocking in.

AlisonDonut · 13/12/2024 08:12

I remember listening in to Australian and New Zealand women calling in to KJK's you tube channel before she went, and them saying 'it's really, really bad here'.

Over and over again.

kiterunning · 13/12/2024 08:26

👋👋👋 cmon BBC!
We're waiting for your 'unbiased' reporting.

MarieDeGournay · 13/12/2024 11:21

We are not just thrilled by her well-deserved and hard-won victory, we are also emboldened.
Sorry that should be emboldenedSmile

TheSandgroper

Thanks for the new thread!

UtopiaPlanitia · 13/12/2024 15:09

Ta very much for the new thread @TheSandgroper I look forward to following the fallout for Pesutto from his egregious behaviour but also to keeping an eye on developments for Moira and any potential changes that might now occur in Australian politics for women, given the defamation ruling in Moira’s favour.

Fenlandia · 13/12/2024 15:22

Thanks for the new thread. I haven't followed the case as closely as I would have liked as there's too damn much TRA madness around, but I'm thrilled with the outcome for Moira Deeming. Australia seems to rival Canada for misogyny and TRA capture so this is a fightback.

TheSandgroper · 13/12/2024 15:29

I have only read the headlines in The Age, the Herald Sun and the ABC but I am starting to really think that the Killing Season has opened. Whether any killing happens is to be decided.

You know the saying, women are scared they will get killed. Men are scared they will be laughed at. The world and his wife is laughing at the (alpha, Big Swinging Dicks - thanks Julie Bishop) men of the Victorian Liberal Party right now.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 13/12/2024 15:32

Thanks for the thread. Haven't followed in detail but knew of the case, so will catch up.

WinterCrow · 13/12/2024 15:42

I'm so happy about this. Relieved, full of admiration, and fucking delighted about what it means and the doors it potentially opens up for women seeking justice, rights, and redress.

timenowplease · 13/12/2024 21:21

Oooh, it didn't look good...

Nah, only kidding! What a massive win for Moira Deeming. 🍾🍾🥂🏆

nauticant · 14/12/2024 08:14

I did smile at this from a while back:

Liberal Party elder Tony Barry described the situation as “The Victorian Liberal Party is like the space shuttle Columbia slamming into the Hindenburg and then landing on the deck of the Titanic".

That's a fair description of Pesutto's credit rating

lifeturnsonadime · 14/12/2024 10:07

Just popping over @TheSandgroper , thanks for the new thread.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/12/2024 11:51

Agree, very encouraging.

Helleofabore · 17/12/2024 11:57

And this:

Friday's party room meeting will be a major test for Pesutto after Liberal MP Sam Groth resigned from the frontbench last week.

Will they call for a 'spill'?

And either way, this is certainly keeping women's rights in focus as a beacon to the Federal Libs to watch and surely they will start to make some statements about supporting the needs of female people.

FeralWoman · 19/12/2024 07:06

Pesutto has agreed to pay Deeming’s legal costs, and not say particular defamatory statements about her. Documents relating to costs to be submitted in January and February 2025.

Pleasing. But to get it paid, I wonder who he is beholden to now besides Jeff Kennet.

Cailleach1 · 19/12/2024 08:32

Under ‘The Court Notes’,(i.e things Pesutto is not to repeat or republish) 8(e), ‘Mrs Deeming had so conducted herself on 18th March 2023 in relation to a public rally that it warranted her expulsion from the Victorian Parliamentary Liberal Party.’

So, I presume he can’t use his little porkie pie canard about her again to say it was well and proper she was expelled, and that she shouldn’t be readmitted.
