She writes:

Men with profitable platforms who are just beginning to realise it may no longer be in your best interests to call us feminists/allies 'bigots' and 'transphobes', and now pretend to understand that the tide is turning, do you REALLY think we haven't kept all the receipts....?!

Oh dear, Campbell and Stuart, I think she might have hit on something there ... YOur dismissive attitudes to women's rights (to single sex spaces, fair sports, safety if imprisoned, ability to name what and who we are, ability to use our language about our bodies) - yes all those unimportant things - turns out they were actually pretty significant in the world's most powerful country.

Brava Ms Duffield!

Written by a woman. Words invisible. Would just look like empty pages to them.

Did they switch off Newsnight too? I thought they were the type to watch Newsnight religiously.

Oh wait. Just more women to ignore.

The sexism of them ignoring something that was brought to them and was loudly talked about in quarters they DO mix in, is even more telling than ignoring the anonymous nobody of a woman out there.

nauticant · 11/11/2024 17:26

This is the most I've seen an Overton window shift before my very eyes.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 11/11/2024 17:27

They are both odious and one is a warmonger. Why on earth anyone should listen to their ruminations is beyond me. Campbell was the reason I stopped voting Labour.

Change starts at the top....with the adults in the room who are enabling this stuff, and the organisations pushing it.....in the universities too.

And to be honest, the generation coming up now is not having any of it; they're actually quite cynical about it....having been subject to it in school. My daughter is currently a secondary school teacher......and she says they just roll their eyes and say " Not that trans stuff again"; or else " There are only two genders - male and female". My neice said that the trans and NB identified people at her school are just " attention seekers".

History doesn't always move in a straight line. This will end up being seen as the fad it is.

Edited

My dd is at secondary school, y8 so lower school, it's all a big joke to them - current insult in favour is to call someone a furry. Forget the younger generation believing in gender ideology it's old news and stupid now.

It's funny how the north v south thing comes up in this conversation time and again.

Women of the North seem to be particularly focused on rights.

The fact that class or how much you mix outside your class is very much linked to geographical location in this country is fascinating.

Men who live in a middle class bubble seem to be amongst the most tone deaf there are.

KS knew. It just didn’t suit his agenda. Plenty of North London women are GC.

GailBlancheViola · 11/11/2024 17:54

So Alastair didn't understand/get the changing room issue Why the fuck not? It's not difficult is it? The question all these It's difficult/It's polarised/RSOH/woke bros need to answer is why they are so determined to get males into female spaces so women and girls have to undress in front of them.

The two of them calling Trump a misogynist is laughable when they themselves are steeped in misogyny the examples of them being so are legion.

Me too. A nasty piece of work if there ever was one.

I'm sick of hearing that 'trans rights are too complicated to discuss'. It's just an excuse. They're not complicated. The only thing we are asking is that men are not treated as women in spaces where sex matters and that children are left the fuck alone.

It's beyond patronising. I am glad of a bit of sanity today with this and JKRs post. These men can fuck off. It's not complicated, not one bit.

YellowAsteroid · 11/11/2024 18:12

It's particularly of why, I'm just so unsurprised by the US last week.

Yes, I always thought Trump would win, although not to the extent that he did.

I'd love them to do a video of them watching Magdalene Berns videos. That would be worth watching.

I'd pay real money to watch that.

I always thought AC was a bit of a wanker (anyone whose job is spin can hardly escape being one). I had higher hopes of RS. I know someone who knows him and says he is v nice.

illinivich · 11/11/2024 18:24

The only way its possible to think tra is a movement dominated by the young is to ignore the 90% who're middle aged blokes either with beards or in a wig. If you can let me know how you can unsee these chaps let me know, Christinapple.

It's complicated if you consider men's feelings to be at least equal to, and probably more important than women's privacy, safety and dignity - but dimly perceive that saying so isn't the best look.

illinivich · 11/11/2024 18:36

This isn’t complicated for AC. He just isn't an orginal thinker and isn't prepared to go against labour policy. He's just blindly followed the views of the establishment.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 11/11/2024 18:40

Those pictures of the Labour MPs with their quotes attached look terrible don’t they. Embarrassing.

OuchyEars · 11/11/2024 18:42

I also used to think well of RS, but not AC ever. It has all been very disappointing.
I am now waiting for Ian Hisplop to wake up and do his job.
Very disappointing.

Similar thoughts on all three here.

OuchyEars · 11/11/2024 18:49

I just have to say that "Hisplop" was a typo, not a name calling. 😳

Rory Stewart really riled me in the last TRIP podcast.

He was moaning about being attacked on X for his views that Harris would be better, he was suggesting that that was an attack on his 'free speech'.

He ought to have tried being JKR or any other woman castigated for not toeing the party line.

He’s several times referred to The Witch Trials of JK Rowling as though he understands the points she’s making

Deflection strategy.

He's blagging in a way to make it sound like he knows more than he does.

Devil is always in the detail. Or lack of.

I no longer listen to the smug self-congratulating pair.

I said it at the time but it's worth repeating - on a Q&A they were asked what their parents did and both answered by telling what their fathers did, with no mention of their mothers. It was corrected the following week when listeners pointed out their omissions.

No it was not. Someone pointed it out. RS asked AC to talk about his mother, and he talked about his father.

PermanentTemporary · 11/11/2024 19:17

I certainly see Grace Campbell and Fiona Millar as women, who doesn't? Trouble is that AC has taken their word for it that it's really obvious and simple and no need to look further. It wasn't JKR's best tweet but at least it goaded AC to actually engage. There are plenty of TRA women, weird though i find it. And RS has recommended 'The Witch Trials of JK Rowling' to his followers.
