She writes:

Men with profitable platforms who are just beginning to realise it may no longer be in your best interests to call us feminists/allies 'bigots' and 'transphobes', and now pretend to understand that the tide is turning, do you REALLY think we haven't kept all the receipts....?!

Oh dear, Campbell and Stuart, I think she might have hit on something there ... YOur dismissive attitudes to women's rights (to single sex spaces, fair sports, safety if imprisoned, ability to name what and who we are, ability to use our language about our bodies) - yes all those unimportant things - turns out they were actually pretty significant in the world's most powerful country.

Brava Ms Duffield!

Why do people with gender critical views keep saying "the tide is turning"?

Looking at any group photo of the LGBAlliance or the KJK rallies almost everyone there is from the older generations. Amongst the younger generations almost everyone is LGBT supportive including trans. And anytime the two groups meet at a rally/protest you can clearly see it's basically older generation vs younger generation.

What are the plans for the great gender critical movement in 10, 20, 30 years? The number of gender critical people will be much lower and the remaining ones will be mostly elderly and the now-young generation who are trans-supportive will be the ones in charge of the Gov and media.

The tide will turn yes, but not the way you think or want it to.

If ageism is all you can bring to a conversation about reality, you're in trouble.

I'm just chuckling to myself at the memory of when there was to be a Hollywood movie made about Stewart's time in Afghanistan with Brad Pitt in the title role! Grin

He has a wee bit of the Willem Dafoe about him.

Ageism is literally the only response many have. It's risible. And when it comes from people older than me, frankly absurd.

You wish it was going your way, your only doing a head count of the women who are in a position to fight back, you haven't factored in the 'silent majority', most of whom think this genderwang is a load of shite.

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 11/11/2024 16:45

God these men are so fucking mediocre.

They can't get their head around women's sex based rights, seem to be entirely ignorant that working class women are a thing, and seem to think that relying on the opinions of women relatives is a reasonable level of knowledge with no shame for their lack of professionalism in doing basic research.

The fact they have the platform they do despite this self professed lack of journalistic integrity lack of basic research and all round lack of professional integrity is depressing.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 11/11/2024 16:46

Campbell doing what he does best Spin Spin Spin. 🥱

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 11/11/2024 16:49

Genderwang. 😂.

C'mon Mitchell and Webb, give us the genderwang skit.

They could also re-do the 'are we the baddies' for the US medical establishment.

FranticFrankie · 11/11/2024 16:49

Exactly @teawamutu;exactly

lonelywater · 11/11/2024 16:49

the quickest way to open the eyes of these guys would be a round table "discussion" with Himdia and Fred (pissed or otherwise). ten minutes should do it.

RandySavage · 11/11/2024 16:51

"Ageism is literally the only response many have"

I won't have it! That is simply not true!

... they like to pretend that GC people are racist too.

lechiffre55 · 11/11/2024 16:52

Is it me or do women and their wisdom only exist in that short window of confusion after something has gone horribly wrong? A brief window of existence only as long as the current news cycle that fades back to the netherworld of transparency where women are but ghosts knocking over ornaments just to prove to themselves that they do indeed exist.

The tide HAS turned in the USA and a lot of women on here correctly called it.

I would rather listen to any two regular posters on here chat for an hour than these wankers.

RedToothBrush · 11/11/2024 16:56

Firstfrost · 11/11/2024 16:38

When did Campbell suddenly realise the tide might be turning and want to 'learn'?Asking as it was only a few days ago that he was sneering at women's rights by dismissing women's concerns, saying that hardly anyone knows someone who's had a sex change anyway. I tweeted him about it at the time

I know a number of women have attempted to broach the subject with Campbell and Stewart.

They just didn't want to acknowledge or listen or investigate why so many women were talking about it and were concerned.

It demonstrates arrogance and contempt.

That's actually really what the whole thing in the US is about - arrogance and contempt and how you can't have a meaningful or nuanced conversation about certain 'difficult' subjects. The reality is the difficult subjects are the ones you should be talking about most for all kinds of reasons.

Legitimate concerns that could and should have been dealt, and frankly put to bed years ago but actually dealing with issue that arise, have instead been left to fester and in festering have become a lot bigger as a problem than they should have.

Because they didn't want to listen to people they thought beneath them.

They just wanted to perform and show off how good they were to the 'in crowd'.

Trouble is the 'in crowd' hadn't got a socially agree consensus who has a majority.

It's fascinating to see that Trump getting in is definitely having a ripple effect and the Labour strategists are shocked and appear to be having a bit of a meltdown over it.

The 'Right Side of History' thing doesn't look so clever now does it?

Change starts at the top....with the adults in the room who are enabling this stuff, and the organisations pushing it.....in the universities too.

And to be honest, the generation coming up now is not having any of it; they're actually quite cynical about it....having been subject to it in school. My daughter is currently a secondary school teacher......and she says they just roll their eyes and say " Not that trans stuff again"; or else " There are only two genders - male and female". My neice said that the trans and NB identified people at her school are just " attention seekers".

History doesn't always move in a straight line. This will end up being seen as the fad it is.

I think reading Helen Joyce or Kathleen Stock might be too much effort for Alastair. We should just direct him to Magdalen Berns's YouTube videos. Accessible, forthright, funny.

What about Hannah Barnes book?

Too difficult? Too many words?

Interesting, meanwhile back in the real world.

Democrats may no longer be able to rely on young voters to boost numbers, as Harris appears on track to have the lowest support among voters aged 18-29 in this century.

Harris clearly wasn't appealing to the young voters either, which doesn't bode too well for your theory that only dinosaurs believe that women exist.

How Trump forced his way back into the White House

Why did Trump win? It’s simple, really, writes Sean O’Grady – ‘the economy, stupid’

Written by a woman. Words invisible. Would just look like empty pages to them.

Edited

The comments are that the other kids now all eye roll or think the trans kids are attention seeking.

If they are forced to use the wrong sex pronouns, what do we think the eventual outcome of this will be?

There was always going to be a backlash amongst this because of how it's been forced. The idea they are more tolerant is silly. They just haven't spoken up yet because they haven't had the power to.

I note the uptick in trump voters in the youngest age groups...
