That video is so very telling, surprised it hasn't been removed.

It’s crazy, isn’t it? Everything about the way he looks, moves and acts says male.

ChateauMargaux · 05/11/2024 07:28

How many XY bodies competed in the Female Category at the Olympics? We know of at least 4.... 2 boxers and 2 footballers.

Why is no one talking about the footballers??? They didn't win medals but they are commanding record breaking transfer fees, nominations for global accolades and no doubt have an impact on the many women who have to play against them.

Why is there no pressure onbthe IOC to change the guidance on eligibility to competw in the female category?

ApocalipstickNow · 05/11/2024 07:29

i would just like to know why so many people think it’s less plausible that a child is born with a DSD and people with a financial interest in sport would exploit that for Olympic glory and financial gain than, what? White women’s racism, western standards of feminine beauty, Islamophobia , women being jealous and all the other bullshit that has been thrown around.

It’s almost as if there’s a massive bunch of people who just want to think the worst of women, even as they’re being punched in the face by someone with all the benefits of male puberty. 🤔

”people collude in unethical and cheating behaviour in sport? How could you!?”

“yeah, you know what women be like 🤷‍♀️”

YesterdaysFuture · 05/11/2024 07:45

There are a number of issues here, I think it's been well established that this is an XY individual with DSD, the individual was incorrectly assigned female at birth due to missing genitalia, in countries like Algeria a male with no penis is not considered "man enough" to be male, so either has to be "third gender" or female.

The IBO carried out the sex tests which the boxer failed, but the IOC have fallen out with IBO so didn't accept the test results. A lot of the media has used the trope of Russian interference to discredit the IBO and their tests.

CoteDAzur · 05/11/2024 07:46

"It is haram in Islam to wear clothing of the other sex. "

This is utter nonsense. "Muslim" is not one way of life, just like Catholic, Anglican, Jehovah's Witness, Mormon etc are not.

"Clothing of the other sex" - You mean like trousers, suits, and shorts? Muslim women wear them all the time.

"Guidelines of practicing sports in Islam for women... far removed from the eyes of men, whether they are trainers, teachers, students, administrators or spectators. ... it is not permissible to take pictures of women’s sport, so that they will not fall into the hands of men who will look at them"

Again, nonsense. You seem to have no idea that women's sport exists in Muslim countries, and that Muslim women in sports are visible, photographed, and promoted, regularly appearing in international competitions.

Feast your eyes on Turkey's women's volleyball team, who happen to be the current European champions. Their coach is an Italian man (Daniele Santarelli) and one of their star players is an out lesbian (Ebrar Karakurt). Like all other volleyball players around the world, they play in tiny shorts. They are hugely popular, photographed all the time, and they appear in ads for various products from sanitary pads to sports equipment. In their shorts.

"The game should not involve physical fighting where the face or head are struck."

Again, nonsense. I give you Turkish female boxer Esra Yildiz Kahraman who got bronze medal at the Paris Olympics a few months ago.

Your Muslim friend who told you all this sounds like a fundamentalist. You should try to meet some more Muslims whose views and lives are far more compatible with ours.

Ah… but we have had multiple threads on the footballers. Banda in particular.

What we are waiting for there is the Football federation’s review of their guidelines. They announced it a long time ago and still haven’t published any findings. I would have thought that by now they would be taking significant risk to allow these footballers to continue.

But money talks and if you knock the two or so highest paid players out with such a policy change, it is going to have quite an impact.

The MRA contributions to this thread have been frankly underwhelming.

He literally doesn't care.

He's trolling women.

MarieDeGournay · 05/11/2024 09:48

Thanks CoteDAzur for the balanced view of Muslim women's participation in sport. Here's another case: the Algerian women's football team. Head coach is a man.
Shorts, choice of hijab or not... not a problem.

Imane Khelif medical report reported in Reduxx
MarieDeGournay · 05/11/2024 09:49

The photo didn't post correctly - the player on the left is wearing a hijab, the others aren't.

monkeyspaw · 05/11/2024 02:15

You're very kind, and your empathy does you credit.
BUT, as was pointed out to me by my Muslim friend:

Imane Khelif is Muslim. He says he is a woman.
He is almost exclusively photographed wearing men's suits/clothing. It is haram in Islam to wear clothing of the other sex. I'm sorry, but he DOES "do it like a dude"
He has been repeatedly photographed on his male trainers shoulders wearing his boxing shorts with his genitals pressed against the male trainers neck. This would absolutely not be possible if he or any of his circle thought he was female. Even very, very liberal Muslims would not do this.

Guidelines of practicing sports in Islam for women include the following:

  • Engaging in sport should be far removed from the eyes of men, whether they are trainers, teachers, students, administrators or spectators. In order to fulfil this condition, it is not permissible to take pictures of women’s sport, so that they will not fall into the hands of men who will look at them, which would be contrary to the condition which makes it permissible for women to engage in that sport.
  • The game should not involve physical fighting where the face or head are struck.

He cannot be both a faithful Muslim and a woman behaving the way he behaves, and the way all his support staff behave.

That may not all hold true for more liberal Muslims, but his male coaches regularly pat him.on the chest. The prohibition on that is by no means religion specific.

Helleofabore · 05/11/2024 10:10

"his male coaches regularly pat him.on the chest. The prohibition on that is by no means religion specific."

Yes, I have said this before too.

It is like the Semenya wedding photo that was widely published. People don't rest their hands on or pat female breast tissue when that image is expected to be shown world wide.

Khelif's coaches would be rightfully made to account for this contact if there was any belief that Khelif was a female boxer. They would likely lose their jobs very quickly.

But I have never seen anyone come up with a plausible reason why this behaviour is unremarked on or has not been stopped instantly. In fact, most people ignore it.

If I was a female boxer and any one was touching my breast area, I would not be accepting that in any way. When I saw that and Khelif's lack of reaction, lingering doubts disappeared. Clothing, meh. Being touched on the breast area by a coach.... most certainly a sign this male boxer has understood they are male for a long time.

WarriorN · 05/11/2024 10:23

Omg listening to woman's hour - rightly questioning the tennis event in Saudi and their record women's rights. But also lgbt, and specifically mentioning transphobia. Ffs.

duc748 · 05/11/2024 10:26

Wondering if the story is ever going to re-surface in the MSM now.

Chersfrozenface · 05/11/2024 10:35

It won't resurface in the captured MSM like the BBC, Grauniad, Independent, because ideology.

It may not resurface in some outlets if they're afraid of losing accreditation at the next Olympics. Remember the IOC portrayal guidelines
https://stillmed.olympics.com/media/Documents/Beyond-the-Games/Gender-Equality-in-Sport/IOC-Portrayal-Guidelines.pdf

Also remember that the 2028 Olympics are in Los Angeles, in the batshit US, in particularly batshit California.

WarriorN · 05/11/2024 10:55

Off topic, ish, thought I'd investigate Gia's podcast.

Omg the episode with Adam 🤣

The other thing about the training video - it's not just his body shape and how he moves and acts. It's who he's with. He's running with men, sparring with men. A whole women's team went to the Olympics - why is he training with the men instead of the other women?

I think there was a post upthread that quoted a source saying every time he sparred with women they would get injured so he sparred with male boxers.

I think this was a report from a female boxer or from a coach from a boxing 'training camp' in Spain where at the camp, each female boxer was injured. So the management stopped the bouts and instead Khelif boxed with the male boxers ... and none of the male boxers were injured.

HootyMcBooby · 05/11/2024 12:21

Hang on, but there was a photograph of him wearing earrings!
EARRINGS I tell ya!
How could he possibly be anything other than a bona fide card carrying woman?????

Sadly, this will not change many people's opinions. To many, Caster Semenya is still a poor persecuted woman with high testosterone, and woman can have XY chromosomes and lady penises.
