This is attracting virtually no attention here in Ireland.

Meanwhile, we have a 'hate crime' bill that has been partly shelved, but is sure to be pushed through if the government win the upcoming election. If that goes through, it will be a crime to refer to Barbie as a man.

I despair 🤷‍♀️

Freemanhardyandwillis · 23/10/2024 16:58

Ms Kardashian was not permitted to mix with the rest of the female prison population (four in total including Ms Kardashian)
This sort of reporting should not be allowed as it makes a mockery of the truth.

It has been reported prominently by RTE, the Irish Times, the Irish Independent and the Journal.ie - maybe other media sources as well, that I haven't looked at today.
On another thread I said I noticed a change in the Irish Times' reporting, it clearly says he was born male, and manages to avoid using any pronouns at all in referring to BK.
That's a bit of movement in the right direction.

I'm not sure that stating in a court report that someone was born male but now 'identifies as female' and has a GRC would be illegal under Hate Crime legislation, so the reports in today's newspapers would probably still be OK - the 'hate speech' element has been dropped from the Hate Crime Bill.

TheKeatingFive · 23/10/2024 17:31

It's been dropped for now, but McEntee has said she thinks it's still very important and the likelihood of it popping up again seems high.

The juxtaposition of the op and this bill is, well I don’t know if the word is too strong

Has anyone been following the Countess on twitter? This is from the court yesterday.

Trigger warning, obviously.

"PRISONS: Barbie Kardashian. We are on the ground in Limerick Circuit Court reporting on the first ever trial in this jurisdiction pertaining to a trans identified male and their time in custody in a female prison.
Witness Roisín Linnane class officer in Limerick Women’s Prison said in her evidence that:
.On 25.04.2023 at around 10:30 am Barbie Kardashian. came in from being in the yard and went straight to the shower area to have a shower. At 11:15 officer Linnane went to the shower room to tell Kardashian to hurry up and go back to the cell. She also asked Kardashian to show her the shower room to see if it was clean. – Kardashian was in the area in front of the two shower rooms. Officer Linnane was outside the big security door, which had a glass panel to look into. She kept the door locked. - Kardashian refused to do this. Officer Linnane went and returned after 10 minutes. Kardashian was still sitting in the shower room on the chair with feet up. Linnane asked Kardashian again to open the shower room door. Kardashian got up and said: “I will seriously assault you and rape you like my previous victims.”
.On 09.06.2023 at around 3:20pm, Linnane heard Kardashian shouting abuse at Tegan McGhee. BK was locked in cell. Linnane went to the cell, which she kept locked. She told Kardashian to stop shouting. Kardashian pressed face at the glass and said:” I have not forgotten about you. I will rape you and molest you.
· On 09.06.2023, at 4:pm Kardashian came back into the landing with her food, which she had collected. (The prisoners are let out on their own to get their food). Linnane was on the corridor outside the office. Kardashian shouted at Linnane: “I will put my hands between your legs and rape you with an implement.”
· On 11.06.2023, at 7:00pm Linnane went to check on Kardashian who was in the special security cell, which has to be checked every 15 minutes. There is a full glass door to that cell. Kardashian said: “I am going to sexually assault and rape you”. At 7:15pm, Linnane checked Kardashian again. BK said again to Linnane: “I am going to rape you and sexually assault you.”
·After this evidence, the prosecutor asked Linnane how this had affected her. Linnane replied: “I was shocked, terrified , and feared for my safety. I never feared a prisoner. I fear for it and for the release date.”
Two officers who assisted class officer Linnane during these incidents and a civil employ in the prison corroborated Linnane’s evidence.
Court adjourned until tomorrow.

He is absolutely insane and evil. How on earth can the Irish government justify imprisoning this man with vulnerable women?

As if his intense hatred of women wasn't already obvious!

Just when I think I can't be shocked any longer.

UtopiaPlanitia · 24/10/2024 14:07

The Irish Govt and the justice system by allowing self-declared change of ‘sex’ have tied their own hands with regards to being able to effectively deal with this monster and others like him.

The prisoner is constantly telling officials what he will do if he’s kept in the female prison estate, and what he will do if he’s released, and yet I have no confidence that the justice system will do enough to protect women and girls from him. I have no confidence that he will be kept in any form of state detention be it in the prison system or in psychiatric care.

I mean, how much more does he have to say and do to get the State to realise he’s not safe to be allowed near women and girls?!? There’s no rehabilitating a man like this.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/10/2024 15:42

He basically needs to be contained like Hannibal Lecter in SOTL.

SparkyBlue · 24/10/2024 16:46

One issue here locally with this case is that the inmate who was threatened is in prison for causing the death of her partners young child so she is getting absolutely zero sympathy

maltravers · 24/10/2024 17:04

Women sacrificed on the altar of trans. Misogyny is alive and kicking in Ireland for sure.

Tippyey · 24/10/2024 17:10

Get this mad MALE cunt out of there and into a men's prison.

fashionqueen0123 · 24/10/2024 17:10

How did he get into a women’s prison in the first place?

fashionqueen0123 · 24/10/2024 17:10

By saying he’s a woman. Job done.

NitroNine · 25/10/2024 03:33

I did wonder, when I updated the GRA amendment thread on Tuesday, if I should start a new thread about the trial, but I wasn’t sure (remembering previous non-coverage) how/if that would work 🫤

So of course I just updated that one again before seeing this 🤦‍♀️

The Irish Times (cóip chartlannaithe) is a wee bit less forthcoming than The Irish Independent in their reporting of the trial, so if you don’t want to know the actual threats made, stick to the former. Looks as if someone is fibbing - & I don’t think it’s the prison officers.
At least multiple outlets are reporting this go round (eg RTÉ, The Irish Mirror & of course Gript). If you’re on TwiX, The Countess has people at Limerick Circuit Court to report on the trial.

(Ooh, hyperlinks now [seem to?] copy across! Will leave the link to thread in case they don’t because I need to get some sleep not mess about ensuring the 8 links in question all work, sorry).

ROI has self id.

I believe he was assessed by someone in the Tavistock and even they said he met no criteria to be considered a woman. But the Irish authorities went ahead and stuck him in a woman's prison anyway.

elgreco · 25/10/2024 08:46

They did move him eventually to a men's prison( I believe) but not before his horrendous behaviour.

TheKeatingFive · 25/10/2024 08:48

That's correct. However there are (I believe) at least two other men housed in limerick woman's prison

elgreco · 25/10/2024 08:51

Yes, one of them a child rapist....

OP posts:
RocketPanda · 25/10/2024 11:37

I know Tegan McGhee is not a sympathetic character but rape and threats of rape should never be part of the prison process.

OP posts:
elgreco · 25/10/2024 13:12

So BK's defence is: I am a liar, I don't mean what I say.
Unless of course it's when I say," I am a woman", then I am not a liar.
