They do have sausage dogs (I think it's actually illegal for knitwear manufacturers not to have any in their range) however Colin thinks displaying them on a bed of mustard is in poor taste

I went for a walk this morning and either there was a coincidence to end all coincidences or Bassett hounds were having a get together. I counted at least 17 of the beasts, and one dachshund who wasn't fooling anybody.

Probably a get-together like the herd of dachshunds I met a few weeks ago.

Bassets are adorable (those ears!) but they must be quite impractical for countryside walks. A dachshund can get under or be lifted over stiles etc but those guys are big!

They've got a proper hound bark. I didn't see any very far from the car park. Some had such little legs I think a kerb would have been a serious obstacle.

Sadly not, as I'm having monofocal lenses as my eyesight is too weird to be corrected by fancy lenses. I shall still be speccyfuzzypuffling.

They certainly do have a proper hound bark, as do dachshunds (well, standards at any rate). And they were obviously very successful hunting dogs, completely wiping out all bassets.
