humans being a dimorphic species who require producers of large gametes (women) and small gametes (men) in order to reproduce is not an opinion it is a fact

but you know this

Well the concept of womanhood rather predates genetics!

And if you take that out of the equation what biology are you tying it to? Having a womb? Reproductive capability?!

What.

How on earth can «the concept of womanhood» predate genetics?
Who do you think gave birth during the millennia (7-8 approx) in our evolution towards becoming humans?

And yes, you are a woman if you are born a female but for any reason do not carry own offspring.

I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions.

What do you understand the terms "man" and "male" to mean?

How do you differentiate a male who claims to be a woman (a TW) from a male who does not make that claim - objectively?

Do you believe it is not possible to discern a person's sex accurately without a chromosome test? And if so, why would the test tell you whether they are male or female?

Does this (chromosomes test) apply to other animals, or just humans?

What is sexual reproduction?

What do you call a male person who produces small gametes?

Do you embrace feminine gender stereotypes for yourself?

That's a lot of questions, but I hope you will indulge me by answering.

Edited to add another question!

Possibly that was shorthand, I assumed the meaning would be obvious to all but those determined to misunderstand. The concept of womanhood predates (by some millennia) the modern understanding of genetics. If your definition of womanhood rests on XX chromosomes, how would you have differentiated before being able to do a DNA test?

Take for example the boxers in the olympics that everyone on here was so het up about. If you believe that her DNA test showed her to be XY (noting that I’m not aware of any conclusive evidence that this is the case- but I’m willing told that this is now in the public domain), how would you have excluded her from being a woman before genetic testing, given that she was assigned female at birth so presumably has cis female sex organs?

Screamingabdabz · 30/09/2024 20:26

“It’s uniquely vulnerable, to feminize your appearance and your personality, and to put yourself out there for the world’s approval.”

🤦🏻‍♀️

Nope. Sorry to tell you. Less and less people are now willing to play along with this concept that any male can claim to be a woman.

And the logic simply doesn’t hold up even any more. After all, if a rapist has had all the surgeries and all the other ‘requirements’ and still will be treated as the sex they are, and victims can use correct sex language, it means that this always was a philosophical belief of that particular male person. And no one has to comply to another’s philosophical belief.

And less and less people are feeling like they even want to.

So, I think you will find that the echo chamber is not here. If you think it is any where approaching a majority view that male people can be women, I think you are resorting to merely projection at this point.

Notaflippinclue · 30/09/2024 20:31

Well - the most ridiculous bit was he bought some kind of shack in Mexico so he could visit and just walk about in a dress now and again - well ElleWood15 - no real woman (refuse to say the c word) would ever ever ever in the real world have time for this nonsense. If you think he's a woman then just go walk about in a dress but he ain't no woman so he doesn't!

A male person with 5 ARD will have been identified as being male when they virilised. Or do you honestly think people without the current medical training would not have seen this happening in areas with clusters of these conditions.

But way to politicise people’s medical conditions to attempt to destabilise established meanings of words.

Now we just need someone to chime in with ‘but cognitive dissonance!!’ I however have a DC to get to bed so I’m going to have to miss out on that one….!

Nobody believes they are women.

There are people who pretend to believe they are women, and people who don't pretend. And more and more people are moving from the former group to the latter.

turbonerd · 30/09/2024 20:47

@ElleWoods15

People with ambiguous genitals at birth are very few and far between.

And in your example they could take a DNA test, yes.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/09/2024 20:48

The concept of womanhood predates (by some millennia) the modern understanding of genetics.

Genetics is the science of sex development (and other biological development). "The concept of womanhood" is based on the shared lived experiences of female people, many of them either directly related to their female biology, or as a result of it. The female chromosome pathway is XX. There are disorders of sex development. The boxer had one such (male) disorder, by all available evidence.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/09/2024 20:49

Cognitive dissonance is absolutely something many "allies" have. It's been explained repeatedly what this means.

TheKeatingFive · 30/09/2024 18:50

I'm always curious as to what characteristics 'transwomen' share with all women, but no non-trans-identifying men.

To warrant us being lumped in together, you'd think that criteria would be obvious. But no answer (that makes any sense) is ever forthcoming.

We could start with an easy one: what characteristics do women share with Suzy Izzard but not with Eddie Izzard?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/09/2024 20:51

There are "different opinions" I respect, and plenty I don't, on a range of issues.

Why would you want to see in someone's pants, it's weird that you're obsessed with genitals....
