What's your opinion on this case? A trans man (born female, identifies as male) is in a woman's prison for the crime of murder (of an old woman), and has committed further violent crimes whilst in prison. Are you ok with this individual being in a woman's prison?

She’s a woman, so should be a women’s prison. As I suspect most people on here would agree, because we are sex realists.

Unfortunately, violent women do exist (though far more rare than violent men). And giving a violent woman testosterone is probably a very bad idea.

The problem, @Christinapple, with coming on here & making assertions about, for example, why Bryson was incarcerated in the male estate, is that the posters here are very well equated with the reality & as such have the receipts. We also remember the 2014 policy - ScotGov might not want it kicking about the interwebs, but apparently the Council of Europe didn’t get that memo.

Whinging about Rowling being a billionaire only serves to make you look even more ill-informed I’m afraid: it’s very well-known that she chooses not to be via paying her taxes in full (many wealthy people in the UK engage in legal tax avoidance [as distinct from the crime of tax evasion]) & the incredible amount she donates to philanthropic causes (primarily the two charities she created; setting up the MS centre named for her mother will have cost several million; obviously she’s funding Beira’s Place; & who knows how many things like paying for a flight to get Afghan women out as the country was collapsing she does - she said nothing publicly until it was mentioned in the House & subsequently covered in the press). Or are you just rounding up? 🙄🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

“How dare someone wealthy & successful have an opinion?!” - I notice the issue is only when it’s the “wrong” opinion. Wealthy & successful people are considered free to cheerlead for males in female spaces & for children to take drugs that are very much not “safe & reversible” - indeed they’re actively expected to do so.

To be fair, Nitro, it's not just 'someone wealthy and successful' that detractors object to. It's being wealthy and successful while in being possession of XX chromosomes.

Apologies if I've missed this.

But if a man who identifies as not a man is charged with an extremely violent crime or murder but there's no sexual element to that crime is that man then treated as a woman by the police as he didn't use his penis to commit said crime?

Yes.

Alucard55 · 27/09/2024 10:09

This is really starting to make sense now.

The decision on whether to place trans woman convicts is made on a case by case basis. This has been the case for a while and isn't related to self-id.

Isla was mentioned above, worth noting she was placed in a male prison to serve time. Initially she was held in a woman's prison while on remand and in solitary only until a decision was made where to put her.

Will you stop excusing these violent men!

Pluvia · 27/09/2024 11:48

Indeed, and will you also stop calling men 'she'!

RedToothBrush · 27/09/2024 14:33

Why do the police get to decide what a woman is, not the biologists or actual women?

334bu · 27/09/2024 15:16

I find it incredibly offensive that anyone should refer to a man convicted of raping two vulnerable women "she". How dare you!

I just remembered dear Nicola S who steadfastly answered the question of whether Isla Bryson was a man or a woman with «IB is a rapist». It is its own gender apparently.
Solves it all.

Let me also fix your last paragraph: Isla is a he, and a him. And why the fuck was he put in a women’s prison at any point?

Anastomosisrex · 27/09/2024 16:57

Quite. And Nicola has since been proven to be a model of sanity, ethics, common sense and morality.

Not.

Anastomosisrex · 03/10/2024 13:40

Where 'female' now means 'large bloke who says so'.

Yeah. Lala land.

Oh that’s alright then. As long as the dangerous male rapist pretending to be a woman despite flashing his cock and balls to the world in those fetching pink leggings was only housed with vulnerable women whilst on remand, all is good with the world.

And he is a man. A violent vicious rapist man - it’s absolutely insulting and offensive that you refer to him as her but then you know that don’t you? It really says a lot about people who pander to the whims and delusions of violent male criminals rather than have empathy for the vulnerable women who should be segregated and protected a long way from these beasts.
