Thanks to everyone on thread 1. I am pleased it generated such interest and conversations. I have learnt a lot from many very bright women.

Can you lobby how this place is run?

Yes. A thread was started and Justine made the decision.

Yes. A thread was started and Justine made the decision.

And so the split was made, creating a dichotomy: tumbleweedcrickets/busyboard.

Snowypeaks · 24/09/2024 23:54

When was this, was it more than a couple of years ago?

Yes. Because some posters felt that it should be done. So the split happened.

Years ago. I'll have a think.

lifeturnsonadime · 24/09/2024 23:57

Now I understand how the jealousy accusations have arisen.

lifeturnsonadime · 24/09/2024 23:59

And also why this board is being used to voice views which, on the face of it, seem the opposite of GC.

PollyDactyl · 25/09/2024 00:01

Possibly 2012, but I am tired and can't vouch for the veracity of this.

Snowypeaks · 25/09/2024 00:02

Thanks, PollyDactyl. I haven't been on Mumsnet all that long - compared to some - and I'd been posting for several months before I even realised there was another feminism board! I thought references to "the naughty step" were about the feminism section being separate from the rest of Mumsnet, not separate from a main feminism board.

Snowypeaks · 25/09/2024 00:07

Thanks, Helleofabore.

@CassieMaddox ”KJKs rallies are mostly known for attracting aggro. ”

Some right nasty bast*rds certainly turn up to try to attack and harangue women who are raising and speaking about issues which are trampling on our rights’. The police should stop and apprehend the violent thugs, shouldn’t they? Stop their ‘aggro’.

Then again nasty bugg*rs used to attack and harangue people on civil rights marches. It’s not a new thing.

One or two I’d probably remember. Maybe those horrible women who were haranguing a man by going on about his ‘nazi baby’. Not to mention the presence of ‘protesters’ who had prior accusations of sex assaults. At least one convicted kidnapper, torturer and murderer. Just the type you’d imagine don’t want women to be able to speak freely. Quite a nasty collection really.

lifeturnsonadime · 24/09/2024 23:29

And in saying that I’m not disparaging the value of the women of FWR I’m saying both are valuable.

i do believe that LWS has a wider audience because of the public nature and the media attention.

It is international as well. I think it KJK was truly inspired to start it. I think it gives women in different countries courage to organise. And co-operate. It makes you realise we are half the world - and shouldn’t let the bast*rds grind us down.

Snowypeaks · 25/09/2024 00:18

Thanks again.

CassieMaddox · 25/09/2024 00:24

Cailin66 · 24/09/2024 23:31

You hate KJK who is GC, and you clearly don’t like Moira Deeming. How are you on JKR?

Funny how there is not a single post of yours praiseworthy of those three women. Three women who were willing to put themselves out there in defence of women’s rights.

Edited

I like JKR. Because she's an actual feminist. I doubt Deeming calls herself a feminist and I know KJK doesn't.

CassieMaddox · 25/09/2024 00:28

Imnobody4 · 24/09/2024 23:37

Come off it Cassie. You lobbied mumsnet to separate the feminism threads because you didn't want to be bothered with all the 'anti trans' stuff.

'If you think KJKs rallies have been more influential to the progress we've made on sex based rights than mumsnet, then you are deluded.'

🤣

This is completely incorrect.
I started a thread a couple of years before the board actually split because I was finding feminism was getting lost in all the trans threads. It was declined.

If I didn't want to discuss trans stuff I wouldn't be here Confused

I'll find the thread to link in a mo and you'll see this is a total mischaracterisation. I feel like I say this every time it comes up and yet you all revert to the "you didn't want to be bothered with all the 'anti trans' stuff.". Which is nonsense.

CassieMaddox · 25/09/2024 00:29

This thread is not fully relevant is it - itz about the name not the split

Yes, it is truly inspiring to many women in a way most of the haters, both TRAs and socfems alike, don't fully understand, and disparage.

It is about the timing. June 2021.

If you care to notice I said that change had already occurred when posting the link.

But Thank you.

One or two I’d probably remember. Maybe those horrible women who were haranguing a man by going on about his ‘nazi baby’.

Yes one was Loyd Russell Moyle's staff member IIRC. Weird young women shouting at a baby.

Heres my thread - from 2017.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/2864237-Please-could-we-have-a-trans-issues-sub-board-in-feminism?page=1

The thread helle linked discussing the split was 2021.

So a bit unfair to 1) misrepresent my position repeatedly and 2) claim I had anything to do with the split.

Actually the trajectory I noticed happening then has got worse. Not much feminism, a lot of "sex based realism".

Maybe people can stop bringing it up in the manner of some sort of gotcha now.

Please could we have a trans issues sub board in feminism? | Mumsnet

The feminism chat board is getting overrun by trans threads at the moment and becoming the de facto trans board as a result. I understand people want...

Oh yes I remember her posts now.
