Thanks to everyone on thread 1. I am pleased it generated such interest and conversations. I have learnt a lot from many very bright women.

i admire KJK for giving women a platform that has attracted the attention of the global media. I’m not a fan of hers at all outwith that.

very interested though in how she’d know who you are Cassie if you were to turn up to an event? The tras always turn up to her events , generally to cause trouble, silence women or to throw soup.

And claiming that Mumsnet provides anywhere near the equivalent is ridiculous.

Not sure how many times Kellie-Jay Keen has to repeat that any female person who wishes to speak, as long as it is speaking and not stealing a microphone or merely chanting mantras, is welcome to speak at the Let Women Speak events. What ever their view.

And I think that it is pretty clear from the number of guilt by association claims arising from people that women should never have allowed into the crowd to listen to them speak, that no one is there checking who is simply standing or sitting in the crowd listening respectfully. And that any respectful attendee is therefore 'welcome' regardless of a person's beliefs.

Considering that Jean Hatchet managed to come and speak on the weekend in view of her past relationship with Kellie-Jay, I think that shows that yes, even people who have major issues with things that KJK says and does can come and speak.

Hmm. Given some of the things she tweets at other GC feminists she's beefing with on Twitter, and the way she spoke to the receptionist and the practice manager at the doctors surgery, I'll give it a miss thanks. I don't need a microphone to talk about this stuff in any case.

And why would any organiser or steward think that that poster would not be welcome at the event?

Unless people cannot be respectful when there, why are someone’s beliefs a pre-requisite to attending? There is no test issued for entrance. And those present don’t have to agree with the speakers at all. There is usually a range of topics discussed.

A literal public microphone in a public place is not the same as a fairly hidden area of the internet. Especially with the media coverage that comes with it.

Nah. I know it's very hard for you to give up on incorrect ideas you are deeply wedded to, but I'm not a TRA, I'm a GC feminist. Mumsnet is the only place I post and I've posted here prolifically for around 13 years. I "know" KJK because we overlapped on the board.

Mumsnet is one of the highest traffic sites in the UK and FWR is the highest traffic board (or at least it was).

I've been outed on here more than once. And recognised people myself more than once. "Hidden corner of the internet" 😂

And in saying that I’m not disparaging the value of the women of FWR I’m saying both are valuable.

i do believe that LWS has a wider audience because of the public nature and the media attention.

And the fact that it lets ordinary women speak, take the microphone and have a voice.
