Pretty scathing. Wadhwa cannot stay surely?

Anita Rani's question above about where can rape survivors go now make it sound as though she thinks MW 's departure is a loss of some kind. Out of context, obviously, and I'm not listening to Woman's Hour so I've probably misunderstood.

And surely this must have implications for England and Wales? I'm thinking of Sarah Summers's case in Brighton & Hove, which I thought was coming to court this month.

The other woman seems to have changed Wadhwa's gender to non binary half way through, she started off she/hering and then moved to "they".

Lorna read out a statement from the review (?) which used she.

Lorna only used they when she was discussing him.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/09/2024 10:21

Thank you!

maltravers · 13/09/2024 10:21

The answer given - Beira’s Place, set up by JKRowling to offer woman centred/woman only care. I’d love to have seen Rani’s face.

I think it got put back to November

No it doesn't come across like that on the radio.

Lorna described JKR's recent tweets and beiras place and that recommendations are that ERC make links with them.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/09/2024 10:23

Did they explicitly acknowledge MW's non femaleness at any point? As I missed the first part of the report.

Yes, Lorna mentioned he was a "transgender woman" when describing the background.

littlbrowndog · 13/09/2024 10:28

They need to get rid of Sandy brindly. She called MW a mother and feted him

CriticalCondition · 13/09/2024 10:34

I've just listened again in case I'd made unfair assumptions. But no, Lorna Gordon used 'she' and 'her' in the first part of the piece when she was quoting or referring to the report. When she was using her 'own' words she used MW's name (so often it was clear she was avoiding pronouns) and 'they'.
Anita Rani responded to this by referring to MW as 'she'.

And swiftly moved on into the following piece about queer something or other with obvious relish.

WarriorN · 13/09/2024 10:34

Queer Bollywood or somat

maltravers · 13/09/2024 10:36

Yes, I noticed Rani had to follow up with a “queer” story to reestablish her credentials.

Are you able to give those of us not on Twitter a sample of the comments please? It doesn't show me any when I click on that.

I think this is a shame. Lorna Gordon is a BBC reporter based in Scotland - so the home of trans x 2. I imagine it took quite a lot of bravery to report this straight (which she did in my view).

The ones I’m reading are getting the knives out for not denouncing MW as a man etc. not helpful IMO.

The MAN who lied on HIS job application, the MAN who doesn't even have a Gender Recognition Certificate, the MAN who bullied rape survivors who would not affirm HIS fantasy womanhood has stepped down when HE should have been fired and publicly shamed.

This is abysmal reporting A MAN , who gained perverted kicks out of positioning himself into a level of control and authority within a women’s only service as well as causing additional distress to extremely vulnerable , traumatised women has stepped down My God

Why not mention that the reason it failed women was because it employed a man who lied on his application as CEO, and said man then proceeded to infect the place with genderism and insist they the women had to accede to men like him.

Men have no business coming next or near a rape crisis Center or women’s shelter. Report the facts. The chief executive was a lying manipulative dangerous man who has caused untold harm to women and women’s services. .

I gave a jump for joy when Lorna Gordon stated victims can go and use Beitas Place, set up by JK. Plus the review had stated ERCC should liaise with Beiras Place in future Grin
Mind you, I doubt anyone at BP will want to!

I'm struggling with tech (iPhoto doesn't like my X screenshots).

'Women only services

We have been trans inclusive since 2008. This means that we have a diverse group of women and non-binary workers and volunteers.

In a survivors initial meeting, the worker will give a clear overview of the services that we offer, including our trans inclusivity. This meeting will be held by a woman who has always lived as a woman and will include exploration of the type of support a survivor wishes and would benefit from. This conversation will also explore any concerns or preferences a survivor has around the support, and who they receive it from. The survivor is then supported by someone who meets their needs. It is important to us to provide safe access to all survivors of sexual violence, and we will continue to do so. '

Evil JKR again, supporting women who have been harmed by genderist bullshit.

HPFA · 13/09/2024 10:54

They were obviously completely unsuited to be in that post, regardless of their trans status.

Their successor is also going to have quite a job on her (let's hope an actual Her) hands.
