The more I see parts of this post, the more it seems to the fuckwittery.
How many of us have ever had our chromosomes checked at birth? Most of us simply take our identity for granted, without ever having to prove it to anyone.
This is also irrelevant as a discussion point unless the person involved wants to enter a protected category of sport that requires eligibility to be established. Would people make these ‘privacy is paramount’ comments for people needing to establish eligibility for any other category: age, ability, amateur status, nationality?
This statement is used often, but it is simply a weak argument considering all categories that are based around protected categories require some kind of proof.
But also, again, as said over and over, many athletes find they have medical reasons that they cannot control that mean they cannot compete in sport they way they wish too. At all levels.
And yet, people use this weak argument as if simply saying you are in a protected category, or feeling you should be in that protected category, means that you gain access. This is, quite simply, entitlement. And those who are using this argument fail to understand this.
perhaps because they are being spoonfed their arguments from others while not actually having understood the argument or thought it through. Whereas building your argument from using original source material and having a deeper understanding of the situation and how discrimination, and how equity works means that you don’t make such glaring inconsistencies.
