What happens if you live below sea level, like in Amsterdam? Do you turn into a hairy male beast thing?

quantumbutterfly · 13/08/2024 12:33

ChishiyaBat · 13/08/2024 12:25

I live here, what is going to happen to me?

Do you feel the urge to join a male voice choir?

I think altitude makes you manly ( must be why men are on average taller ) in the lowlands you must be ultrafeminie, do you skip a lot?

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 13/08/2024 12:38

I need to know whether high altitude causes X chromosomes to become Y's, or whether it causes changes to sex chromosomes regardless.

Cause I'm not particularly bothered if I grow a Y - kids are birthed and fed, and I'm not an elite athlete!

But if my DS's Y's can also become X's, I may need to move to a lower altitude.

(Also does a very low altitude cause the opposite, or does it just prevent changes? This area definitely needs more study)

I skipped as a child but not since then. Mainly I was a tomboy, climbed trees, had fights with my brothers and such like. Maybe I'm multi-gender.

There must be grants available, I hear interested genderwang parties are well funded.

Perhaps you climbed trees to access your y chromosome. How tall were the trees?

misscockerspaniel · 13/08/2024 12:43

I live at sea level. (Just putting that out there in case anyone wants to throw money at researching this v imp issue).

Chemically induced menopause?

So you are now a man then? Just trying to get my head around where is safe to go.

Now you mention it, given my raised T levels due the PCOS as well, I probably am!

Makes as much sense as most of what were expected to accept!

Now, boss - about that pay gap…

They were mature Bramley apple trees so not that big, BUT I also spent a lot of time running about on the Long Mynd so maybe that was what caused the Y to activate.

@NoBinturongsHereMate

Medical testimony from Imane's own coaching team. Specifically, the doctor responsible.for hormone adjustments.- who confirmed both the chromosome and hormone 'abnormalities'.

This can mean a range of things.it doesn't automatically mean 'male'.

If the IBA were going to make something up to justify disqualifying these two boxers, don't you think falsely accusing them of being men would be the dumbest way to go about it, due to how easy it would be for the boxers to prove it's a lie?

Bit of a coincidence that the two boxers the IBA flagged as having male chromosomes and an unfair and unsafe advantage over women won every single round of all of their fights against women at the Olympics if the IBA are fibbing, isn't it? Something no other boxers in the women's category managed.

Maybe the IBA have a crystal ball and concocted their dastardly plan based on what they saw in the future.

Or maybe they're just telling the truth because there's no reason to lie about it?

Do they really think women are THAT thick?

Only one chromosome genotype would mean non-eligibility to the IBA XX specification.

And only one group of humans have to ‘suppress testosterone’ to compete in a female sports category under any specification that had been widened to include some male athletes.

Well, given the confirmations were specifically of chromosome abnormalities that made him devastated to learn he was 'not a girl' and of testosterone levels too high to compete as a woman if the Olympics did any testing (which have now supposedly been reduced to what the coach says is 'equivalent to a woman-woman-woman'), I think we can be pretty clear that it does indeed mean male.

Yes, quite.

The words used by the coach were as follows:

“After the 2023 World Championships, where she was disqualified, I took the lead by contacting a renowned endocrinologist at the Paris University Hospital, Kremlin-Bicêtre, who examined her. He confirmed that Imane is indeed a woman, despite her karyotype and testosterone level."

@MessinaBloom

There would be no need for him to use the word "despite" if the results of the karyotype and testosterone were actually that of a female person. He is obviously using some other unsaid definition of woman that is unrelated to those the rest of society uses.

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 13/08/2024 14:29

Which given he goes on to mention "her sensitivity" is probably a case of him believing in ladybrain

Given that the results of their own testing caused them to drop the appeal against the IBA ruling it is self evident what the results were.

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 13/08/2024 14:44

@GargoylesofBeelzebub I hadn't put those two things together, but obviously that's why they dropped the appeal! 😮

Given that the results of their own testing caused them to drop the appeal against the IBA ruling it is self evident what the results were.

Yes. Quite. When I heard about the French doctor's assessment, I too assumed that it was why the appeal was dropped.

But, I suspect that because none of it has come directly from Khelif or the team management, it will conveniently be dismissed as 'hearsay'. I don't believe that anything will not be treated this way unless it is presented in court and I don't believe that it will get to that point ever.

In the meantime, anyone who questions and who argues the point with more certainty than some posters like will be censured and dismissed. Inadvertently this situation has created a perfect opportunity to vilify and demonise people who are raising questions and stating that the IOC has allowed female athlete's human rights to be violated. There are threads and threads of this happening on MN and all over social media and news media.

WomaninBoots · 13/08/2024 14:56

If I was a dastardly villainous sports federation who wanted to be rid of an athlete from the sport or the championship or whatever, for my dastardly mysterious Russian purposes I wouldn't concoct a fake "gender" test that could be easily disproved. I'd dump some banned substance of some kind in their sample by sleight of hand before sending it to the independent laboratory. I'm sure there's procedures to stop this kind of thing happening but it'd be harder to prove my dastardly deed than, you know, getting a cheek swab of a static feature and sharing the results.

Fair.

Could mean goldfish. They have chromosomal and hormonal differences from women.

More likely to mean ‘male’ though.

Probably clownfish.

MarieDeGournay · 13/08/2024 16:11

Helleofabore But, I suspect that because none of it has come directly from Khelif or the team management, it will conveniently be dismissed as 'hearsay'.

But that's what makes the Georges Cazorla interview with Le Point so valuable - his words, direct speech, no doubts about meaning:

" At the end of 2022, Nasser contacted me to offer me the chance to help Imane Khelif prepare for the World Championships, the African Championships and the Olympic Games. So I came out of retirement ....
He [an unnamed endocrinologist] confirmed that Imane is indeed a woman, despite her karyotype and her testosterone level. He said: "There is a problem with her hormones, with her chromosomes, but she is a woman." That's all that mattered to us. "

That's not hearsay, it's straight de la bouche du cheval, and it pretty much puts the tin lid on any of the IKIAW arguments.

For those determined to write-off anything but a released statement from the boxers along with test results or strangely, the IOC, stating that they are male athletes with a specified DSD, we will have posters who will continue to cycle around with the 'no evidence presented' argument. That is where we are at the moment it seems.
