Always thought it was a shame that C19 meant Nicola didn't progress further in Strictly (I'm aware Strictly stinks quite a bit now too).

The thing is that the mixed-sex (not 'gender', as of course they keep calling it!) walking marathon doesn’t actually pit men directly against women. They walk separate legs, alternating male/female/male/female. So it’s not men going head-to-head with women. It’s a field of all men walking the first leg, swapping to all women, then so on till the end.

It seems to me this is OK and an example of where they can legitimately have a fair balance. But it doesn’t explain the utter batshittery of the boxing, and the media is deliberately fudging the difference by not pointing out what’s REALLY going on with Khelif and Lin.

Having watched clips of the boxing semi-final I am not completely convinced I wasn't watching two males compete to be honest. I am questioning the Thai boxer Janjaem Suwannapheng. Some photos on their instagram are a bit jarring to me. I could absolutely be mistaken and don't mean to cause offence. But this blatant corruption and the lie that men can be women in sport is leading me to question everything and I feel that the IOC has shown itself not to be able to be trusted. I'm genuinely confused.

Good for her - I, too, hope it catches on. Interesting that it was a Chinese athlete giving the double XX sign, given that Khelif's opponent in the final is Chinese.

Just looked up some pics and thinking you might be right.. What a disgusting situation where we're not even sure we're watching women in women's sports. Where the officials refused to test all the athletes. Where people will turn off women's sports because they want to see women.

Women are under represented in their own class.

I always tell my DDs not to worry about brushing their hair for school photos. It makes no difference to me if they look like they've been dragged through a hedge backwards as long as their fallopian tubes are looking pretty

I was surprised by the Thai boxer- I initially thought that Imane seemed not to be wearing any kind of sports bra, and wanted to compare with the Thai boxer. Who seemed equally without need, which mollified me 🤣.

You know how bulky you feel in a sports bra? Sort of confined and bound? Imane didn’t seem to have that thick bulky feeling layer beneath the vest, just a much lighter one.
