Here are all the Olympic presidents.

I am mystified by your point Arabella, obviously. What sex are these people? 🙃

user1471538275 · 10/08/2024 00:04

@annejumps You don't need to be a boomer to have those memories.

I have had a life full of restrictions around my femaleness, especially in childhood.

I have also seen opportunities open up, and have taken them where I can.

Don't we have a responsibility to keep those opportunities available for the next generation of girls and women?

£8billion roughly for this Olympics.
Millions coming from American sponsors to IOC,
in the case of Coca Cola, billions.
Money money money

Was it on this thread or another, an excellent link to that guy Alan Abrahamson, going into some detail about the money side of things, and what a massive organisation the IOC is.

It will be interesting to see if these Olympics can become anymore farcical.

Presumably its going to get more silly though as more countries join the arms (penis?) race.

More and more special men will be put forward to compete in the women's category. Eventually it will become two categories for males: elite sportsmen and mediocre men. Although the mediocre league won't be so fun for the participants when they have to compete against their male peers rather than women.

So the Olympic committee runs a series of competitions where each competition is split between men and women, but they can’t tell men and women apart?

They are a bunch of lying, gaslighting, conniving, cowardly shysters.

Also huge investment in Khelif by the Algerian Olympic committee, with the stated objective of winning Gold in Paris 2024, according to the Algerian paper El Watan dz.
Mondiaux 2023 et les JO-2024 de Boxe : Imane Khelif à New Delhi - El watan.dz (elwatan-dz.com)

At the end of this article Khelif says they/he took up boxing after watching the Rio Olympics on TV -(where three male athletes won bronze silver and gold in the women 800m) and says that it was difficult in the beginning because of 'social conditions', but the only difficulty mentioned is the cost of getting to the boxing centre from home - no mention of any issue with being a girl wanting to take up boxing.

Those games will be in Los Angeles. Whether the president is Trump or Harris in 2028 could well be significant.

In what way? The host nation doesn't get any special input into the rules. If they did there would be no women competing in a hijab in the current games - France banned it for their own team but couldn't impose that on any other country.

AbsolutelyFemale · 10/08/2024 00:49

I'm just coming here from Twitter where the gloating is incredible. There seem to be the Muslim gloaters who hate women and are delighted that he has won, and the LGBTetc gloaters who hate women and are delighted that he has won. I'm in despair about the overwhelming amount of woman hate I see nowadays.

annejumps · 10/08/2024 00:51

In fairness Twitter/X is really nasty nowadays. I hadn't logged in since Musk took over but I did the other day because otherwise you can't view someone's entire feed of posts (ugh), and the difference since I last logged in was remarkable.

Thank you, thats very very interesting.
Has that been posted on X yet?
I'm not on, but someone should tout de suite

InWalksBarberalla · 10/08/2024 01:05

I do wonder just how many males are competing in female competitions at this Olympics. These two boxers are talked about because they had previously failed sex based eligibility testing - but we don't know how many sports even test.

Runningupthecurtains · 10/08/2024 01:08

ArabellaScott · 09/08/2024 22:43

The IOC has just stated clearly that they can't tell the difference between men and women, and indeed there is no earthly way to do so.

All Olympic sports are therefore mixed sex.

Yeah but they are only mixed sex in the female category because it never goes the other way does it.

Another interesting quote from a French-language source - Moroccan, I think -about Imane Khelif, written at the time of the Tokyo Olympics, pointing out that Khelif reached the Olypmics only 5 years after taking up boxing, and attributing this to 'determination and tenacity'...

Dodgier and dodgier.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 10/08/2024 01:39

Determination and tenacity that didn't include jogging 5 miles to the boxing gym when the bus fare was unaffordable. Or cycling. Did nobody in the village have a bike to borrow?

It's the downvotes

I can't see those, either, just a large, blank space under the article. It may be because I'm on a Belgian satellite - in another part of Europe!

NoBinturongsHereMate · 10/08/2024 01:45

So saw the Rio Olympics and was inspired, coincidentally just at the same time as being spotted by a boxing coach while playing football. As a 17 year-old girl in a culture where only boys play outside and women rarely leave the house.

This jigsaw is not jigsawing.

I can't see any votes on the article at all. ... Votes are on the live updates feed

Thanks, the proportion is roughly 3 to 5 pro to anti.

InWalksBarberalla · 10/08/2024 02:36

When did it become an accepted narrative that an adult human can't visually distinguish between the male and female sex of other adult humans? Nobody was denying this human ability 20 odd years ago. (Maybe it was around Rio 2016)

I feel like women have ceded ground here - in a very '1984's the Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command' manner.

BBC viewers are not as supportive as commentators.

I've looked at the article, but can't see any comments. What am I doing wrong?

It's quite interesting seeing the up votes and down votes on the live feed too.

Mark Adams is a lot of a prick, isn't he?

He's from the BBC? Is there something in the water there?

Helleofabore · 10/08/2024 06:24

Yeah, I doubt the Chinese want to throw stones about male athletes in the femal category. I suspect they have done this themselves in athletics previously.

Bring back sex screening.

That is one of the consequences of the 'woke' gender identitarians joining forces with Muslims ( over the war between Israel and Hamas); and i suspect that is why it is Khelif that has taken up all of the attention and not the other male boxer - so it could be inserted into an obvious victim narrative.

Yes, I'm sure they have...in fact I've got photo which very much suggests this is the case.
