I've just seen someone say on Fb that the excess testosterone causes the XY chromosomes, and swyer syndrome causes excess testosterone. I give up. I am so done with social media on this

Almost like ‘she’ knew that by not challenging the IBA at CAS (when it would become very public), that ‘she’ could qualify for the Olympics just by having that F in the passport.

I stumbled across this article, it suggests spending too much time thinking about trans people or genitalia may not be healthy.

I think many of us would love to stop hearing about them!
Anyway, TRAs like to snipe that no one plays sports with their genitals; well no, they play with their sexed bodies which sometimes will have gone through male puberty. Maybe everyone does need a refresher on the differences between male and female post-puberty bodies.

Seeing how much they can get away with just seems like a very male MO to me.

@LiveInTheLandAndDoGood

I don't know! To punish the IOC for kicking them out maybe? It just seems extremely unlikely to me, but he's been sold it, probably because he's a political progressive who has never thought about the protection of women's sport before.

He's on the right track, though. The IBA is the first sporting federation to be ousted from the IOC. They aren't going to go away without causing significant tremors in their wake, and they've done this quite effectively, IMO.

Oooh i was wondering where you'd been this last week or so

tellmewhoareyou · 07/08/2024 07:50

Ah @Christinapple bless again. The comments on that Indy article show that the world sees through this, and those who don't are working very hard to keep those scales over their eyes.

XY advantage is XY advantage regardless of observed genitalia, as Semenya has proven. But genitals! is just the shrieking distraction argument by people who have no other rational thinking to fall back on.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 07/08/2024 08:17

I thought genital inspections were a no no? Luckily they aren’t needed. A passing glance and genetic testing covers all bases.

TheKeatingFive · 07/08/2024 08:18

That article is pretty confused and unhelpful. Quite clearly neither of these boxes have CAIS so why interview that individual? They don't even specify what DSD the other woman has. They should have included a man with 5-ARD.

kiterunning · 07/08/2024 08:21

Surely it's time for an undercover investigation.
I feel that the press have been silenced.
Maybe they've been told they'll lose accreditation for future Olympics.
The contrast between their pathetic articles and the comments from the public is very obvious.
Intelligent women, and a large proportion of men get this.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 07/08/2024 08:23

I like ‘Being male is not a talent and shouldn’t be rewarded’.

And the inclusion of those women in the article gave the requisite ‘feels’ without in anyway contradicting the obvious argument. You read those statements and think, ‘well yes, you would feel like that, but you aren’t objective.’.

Quite. We need a Hannah Barnes type of journo to take it up.

They have been v busy compiling a list of names for "mirax", though what an online casino has to do with it, I don't know.

It was such a good idea too! There are people with 5-ARD who live as men (they could be interviewed anonymously/blurred if their friends don't know). They got the test for distinguishing the conditions wrong as well (CAIS have high T too). A missed opportunity.

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."
George Orwell, 1984

The IOC do not care about women's safety. I just do not know why so many people are prepared to go along with this sham. They allow male bodied boxers to fight women yet see fit to disqualify a women for being 100grams over the weight limit as a point of safety. I implore the female competitors to pull out. No medal is worth it.

I wonder about the pressure being put on the women competing by their national Olympic committees, coaches etc. They must be under so much stress, being told to ignore what their own eyes a tell them and carry on for the sake of their country etc, etc. And of course this is what they have trained years for. Let's have a sympathetic article on them on the BBC

I know, it's sickening

But the BBC couldn't give a flying about women. They really, genuinely couldn't care less.

Keep up Marge, we’re talking about Caster Semenya’s testicles now (and Caster brought them up, not us!)

Wrestling - Vinesh Phogat is disqualified for being 100g overweight.
Weight categories are clear VERY important.

I am interested that the IAB say that they tested (in 2022) because of queries raised by coaches and fighters taking part in their tournament. So either:

  1. Such complaints have not happened to the IOC at the Olympics.
  2. The IOC has ignored complaints and not acted on them.
  3. There were no complaints made to the IAB (totally bogus and in the IOC's words 'ad hoc' and 'arbitrary'.

Someone needs to ask the IOC whether it has received complaints from fighters, NOCs etc. about these fighters and what they have done with those. If the situation is 2) (strongly suspect this myself) the IOC argument that the truth is 3) above is not very credible.

Yes I'm sure there is enormous pressure on these competitors to keep their head down and not make a fuss. But in boxing it is far from hyperbolic to say women's health and safety is in real danger. Yes it is a dangerous sport regardless but the effects of a male punch has the potential for such devasting injuries. It is madness and I feel the Italian athlete Carini made the most sensible decision.
