Women have that rounded bit at the side of the knee that men don't.

SabrinaThwaite · 06/08/2024 10:44

And there was me just thinking I have fat knees. Who knew.

WTF? It doesn't matter that a sporting federation - one that you all think is so wonderful right now - is corrupt? Baked-in corruption means any and all decisions and actions made by an organisation are suspect. Of course it matters. It does also matter who is controlling the federation.

If you think that the IOC hasn’t got a very lengthy and well documented history of corruption, then I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

I'll throw in a little bag of magic beans.

Rightsraptor · 06/08/2024 10:49

I was watching a Triggernometry with an American TW, can't recall who, who was wearing a short dress with legs crossed and all I could think (ok, maybe not all) was how very male the thigh and knee were and I'd have recognised that anywhere. Sharron Davies has said it's not about how someone looks, and it isn't on that 'oh, she's not feminine-looking enough for you, then?' sneery way the TRAs tend to mean it. But is IS about appearance in that we know pretty much immediately on sight if someone is male or female. I can look out of my window and decide that on appearance alone for most of the time and it's not about pink swirly skirts and painted nails, as we all know.

This whole fiasco is really showing up the IOC for what it is, and I am not saying any other organisation is any better, btw. Money has corrupted it, as it will corrupt anything.

Ross Tucker told us in his podcast that the cheek swab sex test was done away with at the behest of the male athletes who didn't like it, never mind that the vast majority of the female athletes wanted it. Cui bono? It's always to the advantage of males.

Zeugma · 06/08/2024 10:51

@Datun yes, they took 'advice' from the fragrant ‘my PhD is in how to lie and get away with it' Veronica Ivy. And from 'I did a survey with a few of my mates and the IOC took it as the basis of their policy' Joanna Harper. Who on national TV, said as long as Anthony Joshua made the weight category, it would be FINE for him to fight against women.

We're way, way, way beyond basic sanity now, let alone facts and science.

Datun · 06/08/2024 10:52

Also, it's not about looking feminine, it's about looking female.

If women are having to scrutinise athletes to decide if they're men, it's because some of them bloody are.

Nothing to do with women judging femininity.

It's the same with crime. People getting up in arms that we are scrutinising pictures or wording.

Stop attributing male crime to women, and we won't have to do that.

ChaChaChooey · 06/08/2024 10:54

Quite. We don’t give a rats arse about their short hair! It’s their male bodies we object to!

Cailin66 · 06/08/2024 10:55

Algerian was beaten by the Irish boxer Kellie Harrington in Tokyo, oddly the BBC has deleted part of the reporting, I'm in the UK so maybe it's just not available for me to see.

Tokyo Olympics: Ireland's Kellie Harrington beats Algeria's Imane Khelif to guarantee a -60kg medal - BBC Sport

After that Khelif, who is not a great boxer, went on to train for the Paris Olympics. Basically a mediocre male boxer able to cheat his way by entering competitions for women.

Harrington guaranteed medal after reaching -60kg semis

What i've learnt from these threads and talking in real life is that people are confused and don't understand what is really going on because of what they see in the news and on social media and it's easier to not to bother scratching the surface and seeing the truth. Nevermind what you can see with your own eyes, it's complicated!

It's so sad and it boils down to no one really cares about these women atheletes who are being cheated and having to put up with having their years of hard work undone. It just makes me angry.

Right that's me off my high horse, I need to go get ready for work.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 06/08/2024 10:58

From that Taiwan News article, I'll just point out there is a difference between "has never failed a gender test in the past" and having always passed gender tests in the past.

I agree. And If I recall correctly, Harper introduced two separate times that showed the athletes deffo had a reduction in power.

But neglecting to tell anyone that the times were taken 20 years apart.

This isn't just about these two boxers, it's about the whole, fetid misogynistic mess that has been creeping up to engulf women.

Fortunately, sport was always going to involve more outrage, but it's not the problem, it's just a very stark example of it.

I thought the same when people were banging on about "never failed a gender test in the past"; it begs the question, have they actually taken any such tests?

All so easy to clear up. Simple swap test. The fact neither boxer appealed the decision says it all really. They know they would fail the test.

Anyway let's see how the boxing match goes today And if that isn't good enough, we have another one tomorrow.

Zeugma · 06/08/2024 11:02

exactly. I was watching Nikki Hiltz in the track events earlier. There's been loads of fuss about trans! Non-binary!! Yay!!!

She's a woman with short hair 🙄 running against, y'know, other women.

(Just editing to say: I mean ultimately that athletes compete with their bodies, not their appearances or their identities)

Agreed. The amount of obfuscation by the media has muddied the waters so that average people relying on mainstream media don’t understand what’s going on. They see a man, but are told it’s a ‘hormonal issue’ and that it’s definitely a woman. All they feel confident to say is ‘it’s all very controversial’.

I have explained 5-ARD to a few people now and watched the penny drop.

Women have that rounded bit at the side of the knee that men don't.

And the lifted foot is directly behind the leg where the male’s knee points outward so the calf is angled inward showing the foot.

FFS. The poor diddums men having to have their cheek swabbed. What an ordeal.

I thought the same when people were banging on about "never failed a gender test in the past"; it begs the question, have they actually taken any such tests?

I read earlier the IOC did away with gender tests a long time ago, and also read somewhere else they are costly to do. Of course they are not actually gender tests. They are Sex tests. To decide if you are male or female.

What I don't get is since the IOC knew the two were men, having known about the banning in Tokyo, why did they allow the two men to compete in Paris. Is there any chance, of corruption, that the Algerian's and Taiwanise federations asked the IOC to allow their known winners compete.

We already know the IOC is a corrupt organisation, but it seems beyond stupid to allow them take part given what they knew.

Of course when I say that, the head of the IOC Thomas Bach is an idiot, the other day he didn't even get his statement correct, or he doesn't understand the difference between a trans athlete and one with a sex problem such as DSD's !!
