TWO “Female Boxers” Set To Compete At Paris 2024 Were Previously Disqualified From Women’s World Championship For Having “XY Chromosomes” | Mumsnet

Surely this cannot be true. In boxing of all sports. I thought boxing had told men they needed to compete with other men? *”Two athletes competing at...

Interesting report, has a good go at jk Rowling, has a go at everyone over the Dutch pedophile. Does seem to overall suggest they shouldn't be in the women's, probably, but then when I scroll down to the next story its appropriately about a penis. Its almost like the reporter knows they have to say these are women but reading between the lines concedes they aren't.

Sun reporter "helpfully" wonders aloud if they have swyers 🤔🙄

duc748 · 06/08/2024 00:17

Even so, I'd say that Sun report is closer to giving readers the facts than much of what we've seen from the so-called quality press.

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 06/08/2024 00:28

I'm watching the sky news take on things now, and... 😬

Summing up with "This all an attempt to dismantle the credibility of the olympics, stirring more disruption before the boxers return to the ring"

And I thought the BBC take was biased!

Vespanest · 06/08/2024 00:42

I’m finding it so difficult with the knots people tie themselves up in to a pretty simple question. Do you think it’s acceptable for mixed sex boxing, if the answer is yes they could at least own it and if the answer is no then they should be outraged that the IOC choose no enforcement criteria to ensure all competitors are female. The rest is just noise

Times article. Quite late in the day considering the press conference was at lunchtime.

Mark Adams, the committee’s spokesman, said: “These athletes have been competing in senior competitions for six years with no issues.

No issues apart from being banned.

The IOC is sacrificing their own credibility.

Simple, they just claim this isn't mixed-sex boxing.

The tattered remains of IOC credibility are hanging on the bent nail, by the back door.

"If you are biologically male & you KNOW it because you’ve been shown the result of a blood test, who is bullying who in a boxing ring with a female competitor ?"

@CorruptedCauldron

As for the Russia stuff... I don’t think it matters too much whether the IBA is corrupt. Isn’t this all a bit “I won’t listen to information I don’t like if it comes from bad people or right-wingers, lalala”?

What actually matters is the fact there is a question mark over the sex of two boxers in the women’s category. This confusion could so easily be resolved but the IOC doesn’t want to know. Even though they could be putting women’s lives at risk.

WTF? It doesn't matter that a sporting federation - one that you all think is so wonderful right now - is corrupt? Baked-in corruption means any and all decisions and actions made by an organisation are suspect. Of course it matters. It does also matter who is controlling the federation.

And yes, sometimes it's important to know the source of information and why it's being given to you in a particular manner.

So we have not just the IBA, but the WBO and the European boxing confederation presidents saying these boxers are male. We have two independent WADA and CAS accredited labs saying these boxers are male.

At what point will it sink in that these boxers are in fact male?

It doesn't matter because it doesn't affect the results of the chromosome tests, which showed that the boxers are male.

The IBA did not do the tests - the tests (on two separate occasions for both boxers) were done by accredited labs and the boxers accepted their accuracy at the time. So twice.

The IOC is also corrupt, so presumably we should not believe anything they say about anything at all for that reason.

The results cannot be released to the media without the permission of the boxers. The boxers and their federation have blocked publication but the test results have been leaked and the results confirmed.

The IOC is casting doubt on the tests because they don't want it to be widely known that the boxers are male. They consider the women's category to be a gender identity category. It is their goal to put men into women's sport.
They do not regard putting male people in a boxing ring with women as problematic, but are aware that much of the world does.

Both the IOC and the IBA could be corrupt. But this doesn’t change the fact that the tests are highly likely to be true.

The issue is the two very different policies.

Shall we go through the timeline of how the IOC ended up prioritising inclusion over fairness knowingly?

How after devolving the responsibility to each disciplines international federation, the IOC left a gaping wide loophole? Knowingly.

How the IOC have lied and been shown to have had the information they denied they have?

That puts “Baked-in corruption means any and all decisions and actions made by an organisation are suspect”, into a whole different light.

Kucinghitam · 06/08/2024 06:47

Maybe "corruption" is an irregular noun? Grin

PepeParapluie · 06/08/2024 06:51

Well said @Helleofabore and @Snowypeaks

I would also add that the IOC has at no point said the contemporaneous letters released by the IBA are fake. They haven’t denied that the athletes have XY chromosomes. They have confirmed it’s a DSD issue, but they have said that the athletes are female based on their passports.

The IOC knows they are male. It doesn’t care. So the IBA is corrupt looks like a pretty hollow argument to me, because the IOC itself doesn’t have an issue with XY athletes in women’s boxing.

CorruptedCauldron · 06/08/2024 07:01

@MessinaBloom The people discrediting the IBA are missing - or avoiding - the bigger picture. I’m not saying I support an organisation being corrupt! Far from it. I just think all the attempts to discredit the IBA are missing the point that the female boxing category is clearly not being protected by the IOC. The IOC is only interested in what it says on a boxer’s passport, it does not want anyone to have a sex test, so that’s effectively self-ID.

The IOC has chosen to ignore the lab results because they hate the IBA. It wouldn’t be difficult, however, to confirm or debunk those lab results. They just don’t care. Meanwhile, women’s safety is compromised, not to mention the integrity of women’s sport.

Maaate · 06/08/2024 07:18

I'm liking the attempt to argue that because the IBA is corrupt it means that it's OK for men to fight women.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 06/08/2024 07:22

Agree that corruption isn’t the issue. Even if the motivation of the IBA, WBA, and EUBA is to make Trump president and make sure all schools serve icecream, the tests they ordered were performed by reputable qualified labs and the boxers are male.

So that’s straightforward. The boxers are male- and the IOC knows.

The less straightforward bit- the IOC is happy to justify men boxing with women based on their paperwork.
And they are happy to vilify, hound and bully women who object.

Maaate · 06/08/2024 07:18

And apparently, those posters are on the right side of history!

It must feel so good there. Warm and snuggly.

kiterunning · 06/08/2024 07:58

I was really angered by the IBA press conference yesterday.
The facts were all there but they were hidden by inarticulate men who completely failed to describe what were obviously blood tests that showed high testosterone leading to chromosome tests showing that both boxers were male.
Yet again women have been let down.

BreatheAndFocus · 06/08/2024 08:01

The IOC has chosen to ignore the lab results because they hate the IBA

I think the reason is that the IOC are determined to have a ‘gender diverse’ Olympics and therefore are quite happy with men in the women’s boxing, whether they’re trans or have DSDs like these two men probably do. They can’t admit the sex tests are important because then they’d be saying that ‘women can’t have penises’ and all those dreadful transphobic things 🙄 Obviously, it’s not transphobic to say that, but in the nonsense land of gender ideology such things are blasphemy.

Signalbox · 06/08/2024 08:01

The IOC has chosen to ignore the lab results because they hate the IBA.

And women apparently.

I don't think the test result will have been a surprise.
