It's 1984 on steroids. Do they not realize people can see? They can read the IBA statement, which is very clear (in contrast to IOC doublethink). That other humans don't just have to accept the lies of Big Brother / the IOC. The ideological zealotry is like nothing I've ever seen.

We all saw a male bodied person battering a woman.

Do IOC officials need to go through some kind of 'denying reality' training?!

The IOC have just had to walk back their earlier statement, pretty much confirming that this is a case of DSD.

I think they just let slip the ‘elephant’ in their own mind!

Zeugma · 03/08/2024 12:07

Bach now asking for scientific definitions of 'women' because the IOC apparently don’t know must be proof positive that the world has gone utterly barking mad

(obviously I do know it’s because they wilfully refuse to acknowledge what’s staring them in the face but I’m just SO ANGRY at this point)

Insanity. How on earth can the IOC come back from this now?

They've been a byword for ignorance and corruption for decades. They've consistently been helmed by a circle of men with influence. There's no declared intention to change this.

Interesting discussion of why IOC restricted women's ski-jump in Winter Olympics for so long (sadly, I can't find the interview with the IOC official who used to claim that women couldn't ski jump because the uterus would fall out): https://content.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1963484_1963490_1963447,00.html

The Dystopian History of Sex Testing in Women’s Sports

How the International Olympic Committee (IOC) failed women by undermining sex-based eligibility in sports.

A woman is nothing like a man who has a disorder of sexual developement, it is insane.

I thought the picture from CaveMum of what the IOC had said would come up but was wrong. Here it is:

I also copied and pasted the text on another thread so will add here in case people can't read the image clearly:

CORRECTION

In today’s IOC – Paris 2024 press briefing, IOC President Bach said:
“But I repeat, here, this is not a DSD case, this is about a woman taking part in a women’s competition, and I think I have explained this many times.”

What was intended was:
“But I repeat, here, this is not a transgender case, this is about a woman taking part in a women’s competition, and I think I have explained this many times.”

OMG the IOC are so laughingly incompetent, it’s incredible. They’ve just confirmed what many of us who are well versed in this topic had thought.

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 03/08/2024 12:20

Urgh I am so sick of having the same argument over and over on this. Men pulling the "what are your qualifications" ad infinitum 😩 (fyi bro, biochemistry and genetics, unlike yours!!)

Anywho, just marking my place in this bastion of sanity

yourhairiswinterfire · 03/08/2024 12:21

I cannot see what activists actually believe that they will achieve in the end with this, 'the IBA are wrong'. Because, the IOC has not once refuted the IBA findings head on. It is been completely relying on undermining the IBA authority.

The fact that IBA have doubled down in a second statement, going further by adding 'The IBA will never support any boxing bouts between the genders' is very telling, I think. They don't seem at all concerned about being sued, do they, and I'm sure the lawyers would have been in touch after the first statement if what they're saying isn't true.

Also, if the IBA are so corrupt and made all of this up for shits and giggles, why didn't Lin and Imane appeal to the independent Court Of Arbitration for Sport? If a corrupt organisation told the world I was male and disqualified me from the sport I love, when I knew full well I was female, there's no fucking way I'd take that lying down. I'd do everything in my power to prove them wrong. CAS is the perfect way to do so, with the outcome becoming public knowledge and settling the matter. But for some reason Lin and Imane didn't want that...

The IBA are being very clear and consistent, whilst the IOC are coming across as immoral, slippery, slimy, weaselly wankers. The best they have is emotional manipulation, crying about ''witch hunts'' and hurty feelings (because feelings are far more important than women's physical safety, of course.)

International Olympic Committee Was Warned About Male Boxers, World Boxing Organization Vice President Says

A Hungarian sports official has come out and stated that Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is not female. István Kovács, the European Vice President of the World Boxing Organization and former Secretary General of the International Boxing Association, told Hungarian press that he had warned the International Olympic Committee about males participating in women’s boxing as early as 2022, but that nothing was done.

I am now waiting for the pivot from the activists to say that WBO is also corrupt, not to be trusted, and whatever they can throw.

This issue is unfolding to peel back the negligence of the IOC.

The WBO are now saying that they are male too.

Yes.

The IOC is looking very much like the dodgy ones now.

I'm really fucking sick of men making all the decisions about women's sports. They just don't care about it in the same way women do.

Zeugma · 03/08/2024 12:29

The only positive is that they tried very hard to smother any discussion of this.

Going well, isn’t it? 🤷‍♀️

On X the current take on the WBO announcement is that it's by a Hungarian and khelif is due to fight a Hungarian so statement obviously made in bad faith

Letting men with DSD's compete in women's sport has been a scandal for years.

The inclusion of men with DSD's was a gateway for trans atheletes as it broke the rules and allowed men to compete legally with women.
It has been used to muddy the waters and allows one group to claim womanhood because of a physical disability and one group for a mental disability.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/08/2024 12:36

I agree @Iamonsocialmediatoomuch
