Good. I hope some of them come on and chat.

I'll be happy to discuss the threats women face from men, and the reasons we need women only services and spaces.

Hepwo · 08/07/2024 20:26

This one!

"It's painful to read so many British cis women hating on trans women. I know it's transphobia in feminist clothing but, even if they see trans women as men I still don't understand the hate. When I was a guy I wouldn't have dreamed of having a problem with trans men, even if I had been close-minded enough to see them as women. Maybe it's male privilege or something (on my part) that could never imagine trans men as a 'threat to the rights of men and boys', idk. Surely at least, if you exist on the oppressed side of the patriarchy and you didn't see trans women as women, wouldn't you want some of the 'oppressors' on your team?"

And we know you couldn't care less what impact women who think they are trans have, because women don't really register with you at all do they? It's just something you play act at.

No we don't want oppressors on our team! You are still a guy mate!

ArabellaScott · 08/07/2024 20:36

It's telling that women asking for services and spaces for themselves is perceived or framed as 'hating' men.

CassieMaddox · 08/07/2024 20:48

lonelywater · 08/07/2024 19:57

I guess that was me then. Fancy answering the question, which, again was asking if you were/are ok with bloke in dress still in post?

No. But it's hardly Labour's fault he is there and 3 days is a bit ridiculous to expect him to be out.

IwantToRetire · 08/07/2024 20:49

According to the .gov.uk web site the Minister for Women and Equalities:

The Minister for Women and Equalities has responsibility for:

  • promoting equality of opportunity for everyone, and reducing negative disparities
  • strategic oversight of Government’s equality policy, for women, ethnicity and LGBT
  • sponsorship of the Social Mobility Commission and Equality and Human Rights Commission
  • overview of the overarching equalities legislative framework, including the Equality Act

Current role holder: Bridget Phillipson MP
Bridget Phillipson was appointed Secretary of State for Education on 5 July 2024 and Minister for Woman and Equalities on 8 July 2024. She was elected as the MP for Houghton and Sunderland South in 2010.

There is no reference to anyone else - https://www.gov.uk/government/ministers/minister-for-women-and-equalities--3

And it is only if you search .gov.uk inspired by this thread on FWR do you see that on the page about Anneliese Dodds that in addition to her Minister of State that she is also said to be minister for W&E.
https://www.gov.uk/government/people/anneliese-dodds

Does anyone know why this post is now part of Department for Education (which has no information about anyone being appointed to anything!).

Update - just seen a totally different page on .gov.uk which doesn't reference the first one. https://www.gov.uk/government/ministers/minister-for-women-and-equalities--4

This is really bad. I hope they sort it out.

Not just for us(!) but if you are an innocent member of the public searching the government web site for a relevant minister, how does it help them to have 2 different pages saying 2 different things.

Maybe that's part of the ploy. Each of the 2 ministers can say they never got contacted, and all queries or comments to them will just fall into the vacuum of no coordination.

This comment sums up their rhetoric perfectly - women as stereotypes, and comparison to Nazis:

"Mumsnet acts like the embroidery wing of the NSDAP"

It's kind of funny when you remember it's just some sad bloke on his computer angry that we're women and he's not.

Skimmed through reddit thread, full of blokes with blue eyeshadow and greasy ponytails I imagine 😂

Is it even worth responding to these loons? Whatever you say, they'll throw it back in your face. Not worth the bandwidth, IMO.

no, unless you enjoy banging your head against a wall. These nutters are completely hatstand. I am becoming more convinced they have a filter in their heads which translates anything at all other than full capitulation to "TWAW" as twansphobia.

duc748 · 08/07/2024 21:23

That's my experience. I mentioned on another thread that I was rash enough to dip into a TG thread on an Aussie, sports-based talkboard I've been posting on for 15 years or so. All complete loons, and that was just the moderators! As they were telling women to suck it up and not whinge about having to compete against TW in sports, I posted a link to the shewon site. Within a few hours, I'd been denounced as a bigot, and collected a week's banhammer! I shan't make that mistake again.

FondOfOwls · 08/07/2024 21:26

All that happens on reddit are moderators deleting comments and banning users who don't fit in their echo chamber. They delete lots on there...

The fear and panic and need to try and erase any mention of unwanted reality. It's sad and it's ridiculous.

duc748 · 08/07/2024 21:48

Yes, and Australia certainly seems like a warning of what could come here.

Andthereitis · 08/07/2024 21:57

Is this why sir Starmer wants to empty the prisons out... To make room for the people who believe in biology.

Not unexpected that they have no respect for single sex spaces.

WarriorN · 08/07/2024 21:59

lol to the reddit monitors Grin

Think we are panicking? Nope. We've the tools and organisation to lobby now.

They've no idea how big the underground networks now are. Mumsnet is the tip of the iceberg. Most women who are active in this area aren't on mn.

I can now chat openly to mums at the school gate about this stuff.

Letters to new MPs have already started 😈

WarriorN · 08/07/2024 22:03

Also, more female MPs, more likelihood that they'll care about single sex spaces....

CaveMum · 08/07/2024 22:05

In more bad news, Stephen Kinnock has been appointed as a Minister of State in the Department of Health and Social Care.

That’s Stephen Kinnock, father to “Milo”, named Camilla at birth, who underwent a double mastectomy aged 22.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11344003/amp/Grandson-former-Labour-leader-Neil-Kinnock-happier-gender-transition-surgery.html

Cant see him being unbiased when it comes to issues like women requesting dedicated female care….

Grandson of Neil Kinnock 'couldn't be happier' after double mastectomy

Milo Kinnock, who was born as Camilla and revealed earlier this year that he was non-binary, has had a double mastectomy.

YOUR MUM'S A TERF

Good evening to the boys on Reddit.
Is this what you do for fun?
You sit fiddling in your bedroom
whilst spying online on your mum?

Presumably Labour have recruited plenty of Probation Officers to accommodate these early releases?

It looks as though Keir certainly got up to some dissembling before the election.

Look at him go now.

ArtfullyCrumpled · 08/07/2024 23:21

I live in hope that she is a stooge on the way out. She was flying high in the Shadow Cabinet and has now been sidelined to a job-share in DofEd. It's possible that the plan is for her to continue spouting out the written answers "depends what the context is" etc and if we hold on a bit longer the masses will peak and then we can sack her. All those new women Labour MP's will surely be a catalyst for change.

I think the level of deception by Starmer is beyond belief - but in line with party politics.

What we should all be discussing is that Labour has a 300(?) majority of the Tories, and in no time they could amend the GRA to line up with the suspended GRR (Scotland) and then not amend the EA. The result being that with the GRA aligning with the GRR Scotland can then pass it into law, and in no time Wales and Northen Ireland will follow.

Unless there is a very well coordinated campaign to try and get more new Labour MPs to understand the thread to biological women, we are sunk.

And even if Kemi Baddenoch has time to make speeches against in the HoC, her main job now is levelling up.

And suspect splitting the Women and Equalities position will allow ample opportunity for things to slip through.

TheABC · 09/07/2024 06:12

When I saw the split brief my first thought was "he's trying to bury it."

There's a ton of more urgent stuff to make the headlines and cross the desks, so things like GRA reform will be slipped into the legislative agenda as "tidying up." I think Wes Streeting will make the right noises on single sex spaces - he has a lot of angry nurses to placate - and I'm concerned about the schools guidance. That's another one which could be quietly kicked into the long grass. I also think they will keep the Tories amendment on prisons, especially with Timpson in charge.

EdithStourton · 09/07/2024 07:03

Just catching up with the thread.
Those Reddit peeps really don't like us much, do they?
<waves>

In all seriousness, this is what I expected from Labour. There is no cash in the kitty so unless they have the balls to raise taxes, the best they can do is placate the special interest groups that support them with legislative tinkering.

And whichever one of you it was who invented 'lawyerly sex fudge', you should go and wash your mouth out with soap.

CaveMum · 09/07/2024 07:15

@EdithStourton never mind washing their mouths out, I think the rest of us could do with a whole bucket of brain bleach to get rid of the mental images “lawyerly sex fudge” conjures up 🤢
