i find this a difficult topic to explain to people as there are so many strands to go through .. the convoluted legislation, the overlay of case law, the capture of every branch of government, health and education and professional regulators . The bias of the mainstream media. The average person in the street has not got a clue what is going on and it is so unbelievable that we have rapists in women's prisons that you sound like a tin foil hat conspiracy theorist.

Absolutely. The issue for me is the lack of legal consensus about what the Equality Act means by 'sex' and specifically what is changed by possessing a GRC.

It's the law that's the problem. Tossing in the word 'biological' - which as far as I'm aware, isn't mentioned in the EA - doesn't change the fact that the law isn't clear.

Labour could promise to clarity the Equality Act, and a year or so ago (if I remember correctly) they were broadly supportive of the idea doing so. Now they say it's not necessary. Why?

I think the sub text is that men with a GRC don't have an automatic right to use female toilets, but if individual service providers choose to do otherwise and permit that, then that would be within the law. They seem to be abdicating responsibility onto individual employers, businesses, providers etc

So it looks very much like Labour did support clarification, caved in under pressure from LGTB+ Labour (and I'm going to stick my neck out and guess from Stonewall too) and now they're trying to pretend they don't think it's necessary.

I think the subtext is that he thinks men with a GRC do have an automatic right to use female toilets and the headline writer has just imagined some meaning he didnt say.

I can imagine that Stonewall and all the Labour gender faithful would be quite happy to have a coup and replace Keir with a true beiever once the elecetion is won.

Wikipedia states how much good Starmer previously did for women when working as a lawyer. I’m confused 🫤

If Starmer is genuine, Labour can start with schools by ensuring that all boys are educated that boys can wear whatever they like but that if born male, they will always be male and that mean that they must always use the male toilets etc.

Or maybe he plans to make all loos unisex. That will teach us, uppity women.

I think Starmer will be ousted very quickly after the election and replaced with a twaw hardliner. We are screwed. We will be rubbing the handmaidens noses in all the crap they're going to suddenly find to whine about within months. And yes, I will say "we fucking told you".
