This man had not even discussed his social "transition" with his employer, he had just started to use the women's changing room without asking or discussing it. He is also legally male and was at the time too. Women should not have to deal with these men who just decide they can use women's facilities and waltz in expecting women to be bit part players in their main character life.

From reading the article, McDonalds may have some difficulty defending this because they offered compensation at an earlier stage of negotiations, which could be taken as an admission of liability. No idea if that's actually possible, or just bluster from this chap's lawyer.

He's not interested in having somewhere to change, he's interested in having access to the spaces women are using, while the women are in there. He rejected the offer of using the management's lockable changing room.

It is necessary to offer and ensure 3rd spaces, It's the rational reasonable and compassionate response of an answer that works for all, and takes at face value the statements of 'I do not identify as a man/feel safe in the men's space.'

We can then move on to establishing that when the response is 'no, I demand access to non consenting women in a state of undress without any power to hold boundaries against me that I find inconvenient', that this is not rational, reasonable or going to be permitted.

A similar one, Alfonso Pantisano, last year was appointed the land-level queer commissioner for Berlin. He'd previously made waves on Twitter by calling journalists at Germany's oldest (and very much second generation) feminist magazine "bitches defecating [on a memorial]." He's also lectured women on feminism while calling himself a feminist.
